Extended Summary

Eden arrives at the Lyrik house and notices Mercedes’ bike on the driveway. Theo comes out and confirms she’s there, saying he’s just going to get his guitar so they can rehearse. Eden has no interest in being involved, however, and walks away. Inside, Mercedes notes this is the nicest place Remi has ever lived aside from his parents’ place. Bree goes to get changed. Mercedes tells Remi not to let “them” wear his shirt or stay for breakfast. Remi says Bree’s not a one night stand: They’re in a relationship. He gets a text from Theo saying to talk to Eden but claims to Mercedes that there’s no drama.

Mali tells Rose he thought she wanted him to kiss her but obviously got it wrong. They are interrupted by a hungover Kirby, whose embarrassment increases when she sees Mali. Mali tells Rose to let him know when she’s ready to talk. Shortly after she’s gone, Eden turns up, telling Kirby they both need coffee and that Mercedes is back. Rose leaves them to it as Eden explains about Remi wanting Mercedes to play with them and to rehearse now. Meanwhile, Rose hurries after Mali. He gets a text about a delivery at the shop. Rose says she’ll come with him and wait to talk.

Remi and Mercedes explain to Bree that they both went to the same boarding school and both got expelled, with Mercedes saying she’s surprised Remi lasted that long. Remi says then he went to public school and met Eden. Bree asks what they did to get expelled and Remi says it’s a long story. Mercedes asks how they got together and Remi says that’s also a long story. Mercedes wonders about Eden and Kirby. She tells Bree that she was Remi’s bestie before Eden was and the sequel’s never as good as the original.

Eden and Kirby turn up at the Diner, complaining about Mercedes. Kirby is brought up short by the sight of Irene and apologises for leaving her shift yesterday. Irene says she had to call someone else in and if it happens again, they’ll have a problem. Kirby tells Eden she thought Theo would fight for them. They both get texts from Remi about rehearsals and accept they’ve got to go.

Theo chats with Mercedes: They’ve both listened to the other online. Bree asks Remi if she can stay and listen. Kirby and Eden arrive and Eden and Mercedes share tense greetings as Remi tries to get everyone fired up. Theo awkwardly asks Kirby how she is and she sarcastically says she’s fantastic. Later, the group (including Mercedes) are performing Someone Like You outside. Mercedes is accompanying them well, and also she and Remi seem to be enjoying playing together, which neither Eden nor Bree looks happy about. Kirby also looks upset but performs her part.

At the surf club, Mali apologises for keeping Rose waiting and she says she can’t complain after last night. She says she thought she wanted this but hadn’t thought it through: She likes being with him, so it’s easy to get drawn back in, but he bailed when they hit a speed bump and she’s not sure what’s changed. She asks if he’s only there because Elandra pushed him. Mali says she put the idea in his head but he’s sure. Rose says she can’t give him an answer right now.

Back at the rehearsal, Lyrik are now performing All of You but Eden seems to deliberately put Mercedes off by deviating from the set, bringing things to a halt. Eden says Mercedes needs to fit in with them, not the other way round. Kirby says if Mercedes can improvise then so can Eden. Theo says Mercedes is still learning and Kirby makes some barbed comments about loyalty. Theo and Kirby both storm off. Remi explains they just had a bad break-up. Another exchange of barbs sees Eden and Mercedes walk off too.

Eden and Mercedes continue their argument inside. Remi tries to calm them. Mercedes threatens to leave and Eden tells her she’s welcome to do so. Remi follows Mercedes out. Bree asks Eden what she’s missing. Down on the beach, Theo says Kirby would have kept attacking him if he’d stayed. Kirby says Theo broke up with her. Theo protests he just wanted to take a break and she said to break up. Kirby retorts that was just because he wasn’t being honest, which he doesn’t argue with. They both apologise and feel bad about walking out on Remi, but Kirby isn’t exactly responsive to him wanting to keep things separate.

Remi follows Mercedes to her bike. Mercedes says he should have told her about Theo and Kirby. Remi says Eden has a reason for feeling how she does and reminds her he used to drive her to orchestra auditions. He says the playing went well otherwise and offers to talk to Eden, Mercedes gives him one hour.

At the surf club, Theo offers to do whatever it takes to help Kirby. She asks for some space and also says it’s upsetting singing the songs they wrote together. After Theo has gone, Kirby gets a text from Rose inviting her up to Salt. She approaches Mali at the board shop and apologises for last night but also says she doesn’t understand him and Theo just deciding a relationship is too hard.

Kirby joins Rose upstairs and admits rehearsal was a disaster. Rose says she’s ordered some food to help with the hangover. She talks about Mali trying to kiss her and how she’s no longer sure it’s what she wants. Kirby admits she gave him a serve about bailing on her. Rose says it’s not all him and she needs to decide whether to give him a chance. Later, Mali goes to see Rose at the Diner flat. He guesses she spoke to Kirby and says he wants to fix things, asking her to tell him what to do.

Remi tries to convince Eden to give Mercedes a chance. Eden suggests he’s saying Lyrik can’t win without her and accuses him of having no faith. Remi says they need to rehearse day and night. Eden asks where Mercedes is staying and Remi admits he’s invited her to stay there and thought Eden could stay with Cash. Eden refuses to be kicked out of her house. Remi goes to get a drink. Bree says she’ll go for a surf but instead asks Eden exactly why she hates Mercedes. Eden says she doesn’t trust Mercedes and neither should Bree.
