Extended Summary

Xander and Rose are walking on the beach. Xander jokes that he could get Dean to include Rose in a two for one offer. Rose is trying to get Xander to call Stacey. Xander points out that the deal was that he get her number, not ask her out. Rose tries to suggest that’s cruel and comments on his dry period. They reach Dean, and Xander tells him he tried surfing a short while back but wasn’t very good at it. To Rose’s amusement, Dean tells him he has to learn to stand on sand first.

Remi is fretting, saying Bree shouldn’t have answered Jacob’s call. Eden says ignoring one phone call won’t put Jacob off. Remi can’t understand how Bree can talk to someone who abuses her. Bree comes back in but the mood is tense and she ends up leaving. Eden tells Remi to let her go, pointing out that he’s barely slept and needs to rest.

Justin and Ziggy are talking at Salt. Ziggy says she doesn’t like them not getting on. Justin brings up workplace health and safety issues which Ziggy says she’s already doing. He says she’s been good at Theo’s apprenticeship until now. Ziggy asks if he thinks that’s suddenly going to change now she’s pregnant and insists he treats her the same. Justin obliges and bluntly tells her that she messed up and lost him a day’s business and needs to turn up on time with a better attitude. Ziggy responds by bursting into tears and rushing out. Dean and Xander are hosing down a board outside when Ziggy emerges. She tries to paint Justin as in the wrong, saying he made her cry and she’s not a crier. Dean says she cried last week when the biscuits ran out. Ziggy storms off, still emotional.

Xander runs into Rose in the surf club. He claims he did back flips and everything before admitting he didn’t go in the water. Rose again tries to get him to call Stacey. Xander suggests he instead get a wave tattoo on his back and Rose sarcastically suggests getting one on his face. After she’s gone, Xander calls someone.

Outside, Bree is staring out to sea. Eden approaches her and says they’re not judging her. Bree says it’s not Eden or Remi’s business. Eden says it is in a way: Bree asked Remi for help, so can’t really be surprised when he gives her some. She asks Bree to stop pushing Remi away, saying he really cares about her.

Dean accosts Justin and says he upset Ziggy. Justin says he thought they were making progress but then he offended her again and he’s not sure if they can work together. Dean says Ziggy’s always been there for him and Justin replies that she can’t even open up the garage on time. Dean blurts out that she was in hospital, explaining they thought they’d lose the baby.

The two men go for a walk outside with Dean explaining the doctor quickly gave them the all-clear. Justin wonders why Ziggy didn’t say anything, then realises she didn’t want him treating her differently, which he did by cutting her hours. He concludes he has to do a lot of grovelling.

At the Diner, Leah comments to Irene that she’s worried Justin is taking on too much. Xander joins Rose, who suspects he’s lost confidence because of bad experiences. She calls Irene over, saying they want the benefit of her experience, which she quickly changes to worldly wisdom. She asks her opinion on Xander’s confidence problem. Irene says she’s staying out of it and Rose should be nice to her brother. Rose continues to badger Xander.

Justin turns up at the farm house to see Ziggy, bringing corn chips and ice cream. Ziggy says that doesn’t make up for it, then asks what sort of ice cream. Justin says salted caramel, plus he’s brought a spoon. He hands it over and reveals he knows about her pregnancy scare. Ziggy agrees to have another go at talking things over.

Eden finds Remi outside the house and tells him about running into Bree. She says they can’t judge her. Remi says Jacob will keep doing it if Bree doesn’t change things, which Bree overhears, promptly walking away. Remi chases after her and Bree admits she’s frustrated she doesn’t have answers. Remi says he’s there for whatever she needs. Bree apologises for dragging him into it and then pushing him away and is grateful to have him and Eden looking out for her. Remi hugs her, which Eden watches with concern.

As Ziggy finishes off the tub of ice cream, Justin runs over what they’ve decided: She prioritises the apprenticeship and works what hours she wants. They also need to discuss maternity leave and Ziggy suggests putting her appointments in a shared calendar. Dean arrives home and Ziggy says Justin needed to know what happened but if Dean goes behind her back again he’s sleeping outside.

Xander arrives back at the Diner and tells Irene he has plans for tonight. Leah asks what and Irene realises he has a date. He says he did call the girl but Rose doesn’t know. After Leah has gone, Xander asks Irene not to tell Rose. Bree comes in and Jacob tells her about learning to surf, although the conversation is awkward. Bree gets a silent call from Jacob, which she doesn’t answer. Meanwhile, Eden brings Remi a beer; he is sat by a fire outside the house. She warns him to be careful: Not of Jacob but of how close he’s getting to Bree. She says he’d never go there with a married woman but needs to take a step back.

Rose arrives home and calls out asking if Xander wants takeaway. Xander appears, wearing smart clothes, and says it’s the 30th birthday of Phil from work. Rose protests that Phil looks about 50. Xander hastily says she can’t come as he exits. Downstairs, Justin tells Irene and Leah that he thinks things are sorted out with Ziggy after a lot of listening. Rose comes down to order lasagne for one, saying she has a night home alone. Leah says they heard about Xander’s big date at Salt. Irene tries to pointedly shake her head but Rose asks what date.

Xander is waiting at Salt when Rose comes in and comments on the lack of people at the birthday party and that she didn’t expect to see him at a table for two. Xander wonders if Irene or Leah told her. Rose tries to get him to admit he called Stacey, then says she’s not leaving until she’s eaten. Xander looks as though he wishes he was anywhere else.
