Ziggy’s pride works overtime. Remi pushes Bree to report Jacob. Eden seeks out Cash for advice.
Extended Summary
Ziggy joins Dean on the beach and notices him looking guilty. Dean admits that he spoke to Justin but didn’t say anything about the pregnancy scare, just accused him of dropping the ball. He thinks she should tell Justin the truth but Ziggy insists she’ll take care of Justin herself. Meanwhile, Remi gets Bree a glass of water. He asks if Jacob hurt her. Bree says he’s gone back to WA after she convinced him to do one last stint in the mines. Remi tries to convince her that’s a good thing.
Irene serves Cash a takeaway at the Diner; he has just finished a long shift. John comes in, complaining about Justin mucking him around and telling him to service the car himself, before noting it’s a good job Justin has a monopoly on the garage business. Eden comes in and shares a few awkward words with Cash before taking a seat.
Ziggy arrives at the garage where Justin points out he’s busy since she gave herself the day off. Ziggy says Justin gave her the day off by cutting her hours. Justin says it wasn’t effective immediately but admits he should have been clear while Ziggy admits she could have checked. He’s still too busy to talk however so Ziggy offers to help.
Cash arrives home and finds the note from Remi. Over the road, Bree explains what happened with Jacob. Remi thinks it’s good that he’s gone for three months but Bree points out then he’ll come back for good. Remi suggests it gives her time to work out her next move but Bree has no idea what that is. Remi suggests going to the police. Bree isn’t sure about doing that to him. Cash knocks on the door. Remi assures Bree he hasn’t called the police and will get rid of him.
Remi goes outside and Cash asks if the note was about Eden. Remi says he’s in the middle of something and what he asked for advice about is sorted. Cash says Remi’s got his number if he needs anything. Remi goes back inside and admits he left Cash a note because he was worried. Bree isn’t happy.
Ziggy and Justin are both now working at the garage but it quickly descends into an argument about whether Ziggy is up to the job or not. Justin says she’ll have to do less in the future and Ziggy snaps she’ll be able to fit in her doctor’s appointments in the free time he’s just given her. John arrives and asks if it’s a bad time, saying he’s been mucked about three times now. Ziggy explains she called John and told him to bring his car in. Justin apologises for snapping and John suggests a discount would make him feel better. Justin says he’ll sort out the paperwork.
Bree asks Remi about the note. Remi admits he asked Cash for advice but didn’t give him any names or details. Bree insists she’s not ready to call the police and leaves, passing Eden. Later, Eden goes over to see Cash. They discuss how things were awkward between them before, then Eden explains she’s there to ask for help. Cash says Remi was being weird before and Eden says she needs advice.
Justin tells Ziggy they should finish for the night. However, Ziggy is determined to find the cause of a fuel block on John’s car. Justin offers to stay and help but Ziggy insists she’s the manager and it’s up to her to close up, even though she lets out an exhausted sigh once Justin’s gone.
Remi turns up at the hospital. Bree isn’t happy about him turning up at her workplace. Remi has just brought her food, since he suspected she might not have had a chance to eat. He’s happy to leave it at that but Bree asks him to stay. Meanwhile, Ziggy arrives home. Dean says he was about to call Justin and ask if something had happened. Ziggy collapses on the sofa and asks for a pillow (and not the first one he picks up). Ziggy explains about working on John’s car and says they wouldn’t be having this conversation if she was a man. Dean quips that then she wouldn’t be pregnant. He still tries to get her to tell Justin about the scan but she still refuses.
Eden has explained to Cash that she has a friend in an abusive relationship, both physical and emotional, but not in immediate danger. Cash asks if Eden’s witnessed any violence she could report and Eden admits she hasn’t. Cash says it’s up to her friend to report it and admits some people never leave an abusive relationship. He guesses both she and Remi are involved with this friend. Eden thanks him for offering to let them talk.
Remi and Bree are eating in the office. Bree recalls how she felt lucky to have Jacob when she was in uni and he paid for everything so she could become a doctor. Remi suggests she could have done it on her own and it’s not about keeping score. Bree says she still sees glimpses of the man Jacob was. Remi asks why things changed. Bree says it’s not easy for him to spend months down mines while she’s surfing and having coffee with other men. She says she misses the man he was. Remi says the man he is now isn’t someone she should start a family with and that’s what he’ll expect when he comes back.
Next morning, Ziggy is on the beach with Dean, complaining that she has a sore back and breasts, can’t surf and is hungry all the time, so work is the only normal thing she has left. John comes over and jokes that you never saw a pregnant mechanic in his day, before babbling about how wonderful feminism is and then asking how his car is. Ziggy says she’s waiting on a part and John quickly retreats. Dean spots Justin and convinces Ziggy to talk to him.
Justin and Ziggy go back to the surf club. Justin admits he’s been focusing on the band but he promoted Ziggy so she could pick up the slack. Ziggy insists she can do the job but Justin points out eventually she’ll have a baby. Ziggy accepts he’s right and Justin asks her what the plan is, because the pregnancy doesn’t just affect her.
Eden greets Remi, who admits he didn’t get much sleep and Bree isn’t ready to go to the police. Bree arrives with breakfast and convinces Eden to join them. Eden asks if she’s thought about the next step but then Bree’s phone rings with a call from Jacob. Remi says she doesn’t have to answer but Bree says he’ll freak out if she doesn’t. She retreats to answer the call, asking him about his flight.
