Wedding planning forces Cash and Eden together. Theo discovers Kirby’s secret. Marilyn doesn’t want to be found.
Extended Summary
On the beach, Cash is leaving a phone message for Marilyn, saying he’s going to come looking for her if she doesn’t call back. Felicity comes up and asks if that was Eden, saying whatever was between Cash and Eden was fine until she interfered. Cash says their break-up was nothing to do with her and to concentrate on organising her wedding.
At the Lyrik house, Theo reads a message to Kirby from a fan whose boyfriend has threatened to dump her if she keeps playing the video, and asks if she’s heard from any more trolls. Kirby says she missed him last night, then gets a text from Bob apologising for being a jerk and asking to meet. She lets Theo think it’s another troll. Eden comes through and hears part of the conversation before going outside.
Kirby follows her and Eden says if Cash wanted to call he would have done. She asks Kirby about the trolls and Kirby admits she made them up and Bob keeps texting her. Eden offers to deal with him but Kirby is considering meeting him, saying it could give her closure. She doesn’t want to go behind Theo’s back. Eden warns her it could get messy.
Felicity finds Tane by the beach and tells him she’s worried about Eden and Cash. Tane advises her to give them space and then drags her down the beach. Felicity is bemused until Tane says he wants to have the wedding there. Felicity looks uncertain, then says she loves it, planning a champagne table, bonfire, band and lighting. Tane says that sounds more like a party and Maori have a special connection to the sea: Committing to each other the rest of their lives should be done somewhere special. Felicity nods in agreement, but looks uncertain again as they hug.
At the Diner, John complains to Irene that Cash said he’d get back to them. Irene reminds him Cash only said he’d do that if he heard anything. Alf comes in and says they did the right thing calling the police. John asks if Alf should still be in bed. Alf says he tried to convince Marilyn that what happened with Heather wasn’t her fault but feels he said all the wrong things and that her note sounded final.
Outside the Parata house, Cash finishes a phone conversation with Marilyn. Seeing Eden, he goes over and chats to her about the music video, explaining Felicity was worried about her and so is he. Eden says that her feelings aren’t his problem any more.
Felicity is seeing to some customers on the balcony at Salt when Eden appears and tells Felicity to stop talking to Cash about her. She also says their split was nothing to do with Felicity, admitting she has feelings for Cash and he doesn’t have them for her, so him reaching out to her just makes things harder. Felicity changes the subject, calling her Eden Marie Fowler and asking her to be her “bridesperson thingie”. Eden asks if she can pick her own outfit.
Theo tells Kirby they have requests from two radio stations for interviews, the indie one in Yabbie Creek and the university one. He talks about building on momentum, then worries he sounds like Justin. He wonders what’s going on with Eden and Remi. Kirby tells him in broad terms about Eden’s problems with Cash. Theo agrees dealing with an ex can be tough. Kirby says there’s nothing else wrong. She then goes to the bathroom and texts Bob back, asking when and where.
At the Diner, Cash fills Irene and John in on his conversation with Marilyn: She’s safe and fine but has asked him not to pass on her address. John insists Marilyn shouldn’t be on her own but Cash says his hands are tied and he has to respect her wishes but he’ll keep reaching out to her. Irene morosely says they should start spreading the word.
At the surf club, Felicity says goodbye to Eden. She tells Tane that things with Cash are more complicated than she realised but she’s convinced Eden to be the first member of her “bride tribe”. John complains about their public display of affection before going to see Alf in the office, explaining Cash has spoken to Marilyn and she’s fine but she’s not coming back to the Bay.
Theo and Kirby are working on a new song. Theo’s guitar makes a crackling noise and he tries to fix the lead. While Kirby’s making coffee, Theo sees a text from Bob on her phone thanking her for agreeing to meet. He doesn’t say anything and they decide to go out for a burger. At the Diner, Alf complains to Irene that Cash was supposed to be bringing Marilyn back to the Bay. Irene suggests they need to trust he knows what he’s doing. Alf exits, passing Theo and Kirby without a word. Kirby asks Theo if they should ask the radio station what they’re going to ask. Theo wonders what they’ll say about the band’s history. Kirby says to just skim over it and turns her phone over.
Tane and Felicity exit the surf club with Felicity admitting she hasn’t been to many weddings. Tane says Mikaere had a traditional wedding and he once went to a house party that turned out to be a surprise wedding. Tane says he’s already thought about his vows. Felicity tries to pretend she has, before saying he knew she was the type to wing it on the day. John comes past and says his invite to the wedding better not get lost, adding that he can put them onto cheap suit and car hire and offering to walk Felicity down the aisle. Felicity wonders if they’re doing that. She goes home and asks Cash if he’ll do it, in a rather fumbling way. Cash says he’d be honoured and asks if he needs to do anything. Felicity initially says no, but changes her mind when she gets a text from Eden inviting her for a drink.
Cash, Tane and Felicity meet at Salt to discuss wedding ideas. Felicity describes what cake she wants, Cash points out they need a celebrant and Tane wonders if they’ll need a permit for the beach. Eden comes in and Felicity calls her over to help with wedding planning, before telling Cash to put flowers down on his list. Cash and Eden both look awkward (as does Tane) and Felicity asks them to put their problems aside to help her. Meanwhile, Theo and Kirby arrive back at the Lyrik house. Theo reveals he knows she’s been messaging Bob. Kirby says it’s not what it looks like and Theo asks what’s going on.
Felicity and Tane have retreated to the bar. Tane thinks this is a terrible idea but Felicity thinks Cash and Eden need to talk it out. Tane points out that they’re just sitting there in silence. Cash tries to apologise to Eden and offers to help her find a way out of working with him. Eden says it’s not about them so they should just get it done.
