Extended Summary
Ziggy and Dean are preparing for a surf. Ziggy is feeling ill and Dean protests he had to stop twice on the way there. Ziggy insists a surf is what she needs. Bree comes up and asks if Ziggy’s fine after the other day. Ziggy says she is. After Bree has gone, Dean tells Ziggy she needs to let Justin know. Ziggy says she’s waiting for the right time.
Back at the Morgan house, Justin tells Leah he’s looking for a calendar app so the band can keep track of gigs and rehearsals. He comments on Mackenzie having to swallow her pride about the car breaking down and says she was just doing what was right for her business. Leah points out he’s spending less time at the garage now he’s Lyrik’s manager and he says he has a plan. Leah notes that’s hot and softly kisses him: She was meant to be going to work to do the accounts but that can wait until tomorrow. Justin says that works for him as they go to the bedroom.
Rose and Xander are on the balcony at Salt and she wonders if they’re going to talk or get drunk. Xander says Cash must have known she’d give a statement. Rose says Cash would have if he’d been thinking straight but feels betrayed. She recalls he was a good guy doing the right thing when they first met. Xander wonders if Cash had a psych evaluation before going back to work. Rose doesn’t think he’s even doing counselling at the hospital. She asks for another drink. Xander drains his glass and goes to get them.
Outside the surf club, Remi bumps into Bree, who has just bought a pizza. She asks about rehearsals and he says it was ordinary and his guitar solo was awesome. He reveals the others have gone to see a band in Yabbie Creek so he’s feeding himself. Bree offers to share the pizza and Remi says he’s got a bottle of cheap red wine at his if she doesn’t mind going back there. Bree agrees.
At the Diner, Alf comments to Roo that he hasn’t seen Marilyn around the house. Roo says she’s been leaving early and coming back late and is avoiding them. Marilyn appears at that moment and they call her over, saying Alf’s just back. Marilyn apologises for the stress she’s caused, for Alf needing to ban her from the caravan park and for affecting Roo’s relationship with Heather, promising she’s going to be fine.
Xander finds Rose getting a glass of water during the night. She says it’s taking a lot of willpower not to phone Cash but he probably wouldn’t answer and if he did they’d probably fight. Xander says Cash wouldn’t want to hear what she has to say, just like he didn’t when he had problems, and she needs to let him work through it on his own.
Remi and Bree are relaxing after the meal and lament that they didn’t get gelato. Bree admits she saw him on the beach this afternoon, meaning either rehearsals were short or he lied. She says it looked like he was having fun and Remi says maybe she’s been married so long she doesn’t recognise it. He admits he know why he lied. They share a long look, which Bree breaks by suggesting they need more wine. Remi says he needs to go to bed, since he didn’t get much sleep last night, and shows her out. He leans against the closed door, while, outside, Bree hesitates and considers going back before leaving.
Next morning, Dean waits at the garage for Ziggy to emerge from the bathroom. She complains that making a baby means throwing up and then having to eat. Dean encourages her to tell Justin and she says she will today. Justin arrives and Dean leaves them to it. As Ziggy is about to say something, Justin says that, now he’s manager of Lyrik, he needs her to take on a bigger role at the garage, meaning a promotion and pay rise. Ziggy asks to hear more.
Marilyn arrives at the Diner, passing Xander. Leah says they haven’t seen each other much lately. Marilyn confirms she spoke to Heather, saying she was calm and honest and made a breakthrough, and they’ve been spending time together and she has a second chance to get to know her daughter. Leah gives Xander some coffees and he notes Rose didn’t sleep much last night.
Xander arrives back at the flat to overhear Rose leaving Cash a message wishing him luck for the meeting. Xander isn’t happy she ignored his advice. Rose doesn’t think Xander understands as much as he thinks he does and also doesn’t think he’s as all right as he says, saying it’s good he’s talking about it but he’s still hiding his tattoos. She says she can’t ignore what either he or Cash is going through.
Leah asks Marilyn if she can trust Heather after what happened. Marilyn says it came from a place of pain and sadness, and she deserved to be punished. Leah argues Marilyn was young and isolated and Marilyn responds that Heather had trauma from being abandoned. Leah asks if Marilyn’s going to tell Alf and Roo. Marilyn says she’s keeping quiet for now and Heather agrees. She goes to serve Bree, but when Remi comes in, Bree hastily leaves. Remi chases after her through a park area. Bree claims she was urgently called into work. Remi guess she’s avoiding him and says he was there too and thinks they should talk.
At the garage, Ziggy’s notes Mackenzie’s car needs an oil check and Justin says the fuel pump is on the way. They discuss Mackenzie not matching the other venue’s fee. Justin asks if the job promotion will get in the way of Ziggy’s pro surfing. Hiding the fact she’s feeling ill, Ziggy says she can juggle multiple careers like him and Theo, and told Dean she can have it all. Justin gets a text confirming his meeting with the manager of the Palace that afternoon. They can’t do any more on Mackenzie’s car until the fuel pump comes in and only have a few services to do, including Tane’s, so Justin suggests going for lunch to celebrate…at the Diner, not Salt.
At Salt, Remi tells Bree he wasn’t trying to get rid of her. Bree says he was but she understands. Remi says the vibe didn’t feel right. Bree agrees and says she realised she missed company and the intimacy with her husband not being around. She says it’s not about Remi at all (although she isn’t entirely convincing). They resolve to remain friends. Meanwhile, Rose finds Xander standing on the beach. She apologises for upsetting him. Xander says she had a point and takes his shirt off. Rose says he doesn’t have to if he’s not comfortable but Xander says this is who he is. He heads out into the water for a swim.
At the Diner, Alf and Roo discuss the fact Marilyn seems to be back to normal before leaving. Nearby, Ziggy complains manager is a boring title and asks for director of automotive operations. Justin says in that case he might as well call himself CEO. Dean arrives and Justin says they’re celebrating. Ziggy clarifies that she got a promotion. Justin goes to get coffees and Ziggy asks for decaf. When Justin’s out of earshot, Dean wonders why Ziggy didn’t tell him. Ziggy asks him to let her have her moment.
Later, Ziggy is working at the garage and is on the phone to someone saying it was just a regular service and they can pick up at any time before the garage closes. Ending the call, she gets out a bottle of solvent but the fumes make her dizzy and nauseous. She faints, bringing down a box full of tools with her, and lies unconscious.
