Extended Summary

Eden and Remi head down the beach. Eden wonders if they should invite Theo and Kirby but Remi thinks the pair should be concentrating on the PR work. Eden makes a joke about “personal relations” which falls flat because Remi has just seen Bree. He jokingly asks Bree if she’s following him and is playing hard to get. She cheerily retorts that she’s not playing anything. Eden and Remi head into the water, just as Eden’s phone rings with a call from Kirby.

Theo suggests Kirby try Remi, only for them to find his phone in the house. Kirby thinks they should put the interview off but Theo points out Tully is only coming because he’s close by. Kirby agrees, saying she’ll message Eden and hope they turn up in time. Theo admits he’s never done an interview before and Kirby reassures him.

Ziggy tells Dean she’s going for a surf. Dean offers to go with her but Ziggy points out he has to go to Jai’s footy match. Mackenzie, who has been sitting at the table throughout, asks what’s going on. Dean says Ziggy had a wobble in the surf but Ziggy dismisses it as nothing. After Ziggy’s gone, Mackenzie asks Dean why he’s being so attentive to Ziggy, asking if he’s been jealous, got in a fight or got weird about her surfing. Dean says he just wants her to be happy. He asks to borrow her car to get to Jai’s game. Mackenzie agrees if he gives her a lift first.

Justin finds Bree showering and asks her about the surf. She notes it tends to get more crowded where she used to live. Irene comes along and introduces the pair to each other. Bree asks her about Cash and Irene says he needs to pull his head in, before saying she was just venting. Inside the surf club, Remi and Eden are playing pool. Eden suggests Theo and Kirby might come up with some great ideas. Remi knows they were having breakfast before and Eden notes at least Bob always put the band first.

Kirby and Theo are setting up outside the house. Kirby says she’ll talk about the band’s history and he can talk about where they’re going, and Tully will probably ask about their lyrics. Tully arrives and Theo shows him through. Kirby tells him the rest of the band aren’t there yet. Tully didn’t know there was four of them but says he can’t wait. They agree to go ahead with the interview.

Ziggy arrives at the surf club and is accosted by Mackenzie, who wants to know what’s going on at home. Ziggy asks what Dean told her, which Mackenzie takes as confirmation that there is something. She takes Ziggy upstairs and pours shots, asking what Dean’s done and trying to get her to forgive him. Ziggy says there’s nothing to forgive. Mackenzie tells her to drink up, since Ziggy never turns down free shots, then realises she’s pregnant.

Theo and Kirby talk about how Remi’s good at playing the crowd and Eden’s great at bass. Tully picks up on the fact that the pair are a couple and asks how they got together, saying it’ll be a good angle for the article. They talk about how they were with other people when the band came to town but got on well when they started jamming. Tully takes photos of them and they check he’ll use photos of the entire band, saying they can send him some. Tully briefly meets Remi and Eden when they arrive home, bemused at what’s going on.

Bree turns up at the Diner, where Irene is wiping tables. Bree asks if there’s a problem with Cash. Irene says she’s just getting used to having an empty house again. Back at the Lyrik house, Remi and Eden are unhappy that Theo and Kirby did the interview without them. Theo points out they tried to call them. Eden finds her battery’s flat and Kirby tell Remi he left his phone at home. They accuse the pair of being the ones not committed to the band.

Mackenzie joins Ziggy on the Salt balcony for a glass of water out of solidarity. She apologises for forcing the news out of Ziggy. Ziggy alludes to Mackenzie’s miscarriage as why she was reluctant to talk to her before saying she’s not made a decision yet and Dean says he’ll support any decision she makes. Dean arrives bragging about Jai winning player of the match. He guesses something is going on but is sent to get pizzas.

Eden and Remi argue Theo and Kirby could have come looking for them. Theo says they couldn’t leave Tully in the back yard. He and Kirby assure the others the article will be good for the band. Remi accepts they didn’t do the wrong thing but decides to reserve judgement until he’s seen it. Theo suggests there’s no such thing as bad publicity while Kirby sends Tully the group shots.

Ziggy, Dean and Mackenzie are back home. Ziggy goes to bed, telling Dean he doesn’t have to come with her. Dean guesses that Mackenzie knows about the pregnancy. Mackenzie asks Dean if he’s told Ziggy how he feels about it. Dean says he didn’t want to put pressure on her. Mackenzie reminds him he told her the father needed to have a say and he regrets missing out on milestones with Jai, saying this is a second chance. Dean admits he wants to do it.

Next morning, Theo, Remi, Kirby and Eden are playing pool at the surf club while waiting for the article to be posted. Theo gets the link but when they open it up, the headline is “Lyrik lovers are the next hot duo”, all about their relationship with only a passing reference to “backup musicians”. Kirby protests they spent 99% of the interview talking about the band. Remi walks out. Theo says the relationship was just meant to be an angle. Eden says an angle is the whole article and asks for some space.

Eden finds Remi at the house and says she thinks Theo and Kirby were just played. Remi isn’t convinced, showing her how the article refers to Tully finding out about them from a video, which there’s a link to. Eden watches the video of Theo and Kirby on their own. Remi wonders that if Theo and Kirby are Lyrik, who are he and Eden.

At the farm house, Dean asks to talk to Ziggy, who reiterates she hasn’t made a decision. Dean says it’s her decision and he will support whatever she decides but he wouldn’t want anything more than to have a child with her.
