Extended Summary

Eden and Remi exit the surf club. They run into Dean who asks how Remi went with Bree and is amused when Eden tells him they shook hands. Remi asks Eden if she sorted things with Kirby, suggesting they do that. Dean heads up to Salt and asks Mackenzie what her plans are. Mackenzie says she was going to have a medi-pedi and cook a roast dinner…but she’s busy working and might even sleep there. Dean suggests they go to a movie but Mackenzie doesn’t have time until Felicity comes back to work and points out Dean has only been without Ziggy for a day. Dean decides to stick around there.

Leah and Justin arrive at the Diner. Leah says she’s spoken to a costume designer about outfits for the band, then laughs at Justin’s horrified expression. Theo comes past looking morose and Justin follows him onto the veranda. Theo says he and Kirby broke up so Justin’s advice sucked. Kirby looks equally miserable playing the keyboard as Remi and Eden arrive home. They have bought all her favourite foods and are preparing to cook dinner for her. Kirby isn’t appeased, saying she’s sick of carrying the load, and heads to her room.

Dean points out to Mackenzie that a table has dirty plates on it. Bree turns up to collect a pizza and Dean tells her that her board’s ready. Bree asks how much she owes him and Dean replies that the look on Remi’s face after she rejected him was payment enough. Mackenzie comes back with the pizza but Bree says to give it to Dean: She’s just been called into work. Mackenzie notes Dean never pays anyway.

Eden warns Remi not to touch the food before Kirby joins them. When she appears, they suggest locking in the gig and rehearsal schedule. Kirby isn’t keen on spending time with Theo and says the set lists are fine but Eden and Remi think they need to have alternatives for fans who’ve already seen them. Kirby ends up agreeing to invite Theo to a band meeting tomorrow.

Next morning, Dean is running a class on the beach, getting them to paddle and then pop up. Ziggy calls over that Dean helped her win her trophy. Dean rushes over, having not expected her back. She explains a big surf put much of the competition off so they brought the final between her and last year’s champion forward. She regales how she caught the second wave and won it in the last minute, saying she’ll show him the video loads of times.

Outside the surf club, Kirby joins Justin and Theo and tells Theo about the meeting. Theo says he’ll be there. Justin’s attempt at an ice-breaker fails to work and the pair part awkwardly. Justin wonders how they’re going to be in a band together if they can’t even talk. Theo joins Remi, Eden and Kirby at Salt and checks he isn’t late. Eden says she and Remi have picked five songs that suit Theo’s voice and they’ll meet every night for rehearsals after his work. Kirby tries to put them off but they’ve decided that she and Theo should work on lyrics while they do the set list.

At the Diner, Bree orders a coffee and chats to Leah about surfing. Leah mentions Justin’s the same, which he turns up to confirms, and declines the idea of joining them. She asks Justin how Theo is and Justin says he was fine until they met Kirby. Leah is confused. After a failed attempt at dodging the question, Justin admits they were together and then broke up. He asks her not to go protective aunt.

Heading out onto the balcony, Kirby again tries to argue against adding more songs but Eden and Remi repeat their old argument and remind her she wanted them to put the band first. Remi suggests Kirby and Theo work on PR ideas while they do the set list. Noticing the look pass between the pair, Remi and Eden ask what the problem is. Theo claims he upset Kirby by insulting some of her lyrics. Kirby promptly kisses Theo in front of the others. Remi and Eden don’t know where to look and Remi notes that’s what it’s about.

Remi and Eden head downstairs. Eden is worried about another incident like Bob but Remi doesn’t think Theo’s like Bob. Eden says there’s still a problem if they break up. Bree appears to collect her board and Remi nervously invites her to play pool as friends. She declines and Eden says Remi is never getting lucky again.

Dean and Ziggy arrive home and debate where to put her trophy. Mackenzie appears and welcomes Ziggy back, telling her to never leave Dean alone again. They discuss Ziggy finishing first and Ziggy notes a surf shop in the city has already offered to sponsor her: They’ll pay for her travel and competition fees in return for her wearing their logo. Later, Dean and Ziggy are walking by the beach. Dean thinks they should do something to celebrate but Ziggy just wants to go for a surf. She gets a call asking about sponsorship.

Theo and Kirby venture downstairs to join Remi and Eden. Remi says it’s okay and Eden says they can’t ever break up. Kirby thanks them before she and Theo head off. Eden wonders how Kirby goes from one relationship to another while they’re stuck there. Remi says that now the rule about not dating band members is gone, he needs to tell her he loves her. Eden looks freaked out and he cracks up laughing, saying she’s in the friend zone.

Leah and Justin see Theo and Kirby arrive at the Diner. Theo refers to Kirby as his girlfriend. Leah doesn’t let on she already knew and congratulates them. They say the band are fine with it. Leah wonders if she could put the dinner on now, then assures Justin she’s joking.

Ziggy comes back to the beach after her surf but suddenly collapses to her knees. Bree hurries over and asks if she’s eaten today. Ziggy says she wasn’t hungry that morning. Bree does a quick check, noting Ziggy doesn’t seem to have been stung by anything. Ziggy nearly falls again and Bree asks if she could be pregnant. Ziggy initially says no, but looks less certain when Bree asks if she’s sure.

At Salt, Dean chats about how everything’s falling into place for Ziggy. Mackenzie gives him some champagne for her, saying there’s a six-pack for Dean, and notes she’ll be working late so they’ve got the place to themselves. She wonders how Dean would feel if Ziggy goes on tour. Dean thinks Ziggy has the world at her feet.

At the farm house, Ziggy checks a countdown on her phone. She looks at the trophy, at a pregnancy test sat on the kitchen surface and at the photos on the fridge, which include a photo of her and Dean after winning the competition and ones of Jai with both Dean and Amber. Her alarm goes off and she looks at the test. It says she’s pregnant.
