Extended Summary

Tane chases after Felicity along the headland, telling her to stop and talk to him. He says it wasn’t the grief talking and he really does see her in his future. Felicity says he caught her off guard and it’s too early to have the conversation, saying they’ll catch up later and hurrying away. Nikau arrives and comments on Tane taking his advice and hanging out with her. Down on the beach, Bella and Chloe are walking, with Chloe saying she’s glad to be out of the house but doesn’t want to cause trouble between Bella and Nik. She asks what plans they had that she ruined but Bella says the only plan she has is to have lunch with Chloe.

At the Diner, Cash and Jasmine comment on night shifts that last past lunch the next day and dream of crashing out together. Cash says Jasmine’s the hottest housemate he’s had and Jasmine quips she’ll tell Irene he’s said that. Chloe and Bella come in. Jasmine asks Chloe how she is and Chloe says in some ways it’s harder than it was to start with but she has people like Bella in her corner. Jasmine says they’re in her corner too. At the gym, Nikau asks Tane about Felicity then tells him about Chloe having a meltdown at work. Tane feels bad for not checking on her but doesn’t think it’s a big deal. Nikau tells him about Chloe crying in the bathroom and wonders if they should call Mia. Tane doesn’t want to bother her and says he’ll handle it.

At the beach house, Felicity rants to Irene about how she just walked away from Tane and blames Irene for telling her to be honest with him, babbling that she doesn’t think about the future. Cash and Jasmine arrive and Felicity instantly drags Cash off for a chat. Soon after, down on the beach, Felicity is now ranting to Cash about Tane planning her future. Cash says Felicity likes Tane and he’s been straight about how he feels. He reminds her she pushed him to live with Jasmine and draws male and female stick figures and a love heart in the sand, asking what she’s afraid of.

Now at the Parata house, Chloe gets Bella a glass of water and Bella gives her a new journal to replace the one that got burnt. Tane and Nikau arrive and Tane asks to talk to Chloe while Nikau takes Bella for a juice. Tane tells Chloe that Nikau’s worried about her. Chloe claims Nikau’s the one that’s struggling and he’s deflecting. Later, Tane queries her about leaning on Bella. Chloe suggests Nikau’s jealous and pushed her to get back to work. She asks why Nikau didn’t invite her to Salt and claims he was wearing one of Ari’s t-shirts.

At the surf club, Nikau and Bella agree it’s good to spend time together. Bella gets a text saying Dean and Ziggy have a school thing for Jai tonight and they have the place to themselves, suggesting he stay over. Nikau quickly finishes his drink and says he’ll see her when his shift ends. Down on the beach, Felicity tells Cash that Tane sees a family in his future and she doesn’t think she could cope with that given her family history. She wonders how to tell Tane and suggests Cash and Jasmine have picked out baby names. Cash looks awkward but tells her to be straight with Tane. Not too far away, Tane approaches Nikau and tells him what Chloe said. Nikau doesn’t understand why she’d say that. Tane tells him what she said about the t-shirt and Nikau says it’s not true. Tane doesn’t seem entirely convinced.

Jasmine emerges from the bathroom. Irene offers to get her something to eat but Jasmine wants to stay awake for Cash. Cash comes home and asks to talk to Jasmine. Irene heads out shopping. Cash says he and Jasmine have never had a conversation about their future and wonders if they want the same things. Jasmine says she wants a shower and a sleep, as well as marriage, kids, a puppy and a big loan. Cash says he wants that too, although he’s more of a cat person. He recalls she was married before. Jasmine says it didn’t turn out as planned and she thought those things were off the table until she met him. Later, Irene comes home and heads into the pair’s bedroom but finds them asleep.

Nikau arrives home and Chloe asks where Bella is. Nikau says she’s at home. He asks Chloe why she said what she did to Tane. Chloe claims Tane is just making a big deal. Nikau says he’s going to stay at Bella’s and wants alone time with his girlfriend. Chloe suggests Bella could come there. Nikau says Tane will be home soon and leaves. Later, Tane finds Chloe packing a bag and tells her Nikau said she was wrong. Chloe says he had a go at her about it and tells Tane to stay out of it. Felicity arrives and offers to wait outside but Chloe leaves. Tane offers her takeaway but Felicity asks to talk outside. Tane says he doesn’t have a diamond ring for her. Felicity says that’s a shame and Tane points out mixed messages. Felicity suggests she might not ever want to settle down or have kids and asks if that’s a deal-breaker. Tane says he can’t do this right now and asks her to go.

Bella and Nikau are getting the table set for dinner. Nikau says she looks amazing and Bella notes Ziggy said she could borrow whatever she wanted. Just as they’re sitting down to eat, there’s a knock at the door. Bella answers it and lets Chloe in. Chloe asks if they sorted dessert and says she brought cake. She says Felicity turned up and she thought Tane didn’t want her around. She offers to leave but Bella tells her to stay. Nikau doesn’t say anything but doesn’t look happy.
