Extended Summary

Outside the surf club next morning, Dean wonders how Ziggy thought she could have kept the accident secret when someone was hit on the head with one of his boards. Ziggy says she’s a good teacher and suggest it was Dean’s fault for sending Nikau to check up on her. John comes over and says he needs an incident report: He has eyes and ears everywhere, including on social media, and says concussions can be serious. Later, John tells Dean that the first lesson is meant to be on sand. Dean says it’s his call but John says it’s his lifesavers who have to intervene and it also affects Dean’s insurance. He tells him he needs to fire Ziggy.

At the Parata house, Ari hasn’t been able to get any news from the hospital. Mia says at least Tane isn’t any worse. Nikau and Bella appear and Bella asks to come to the hospital with them. Mia has to get down to the police station first to go over the list of people with access to the office. Nikau asks why they’re bothering when they all know who did it and wonders why they aren’t doing anything. Bella and Ari try to get him to leave it to the police. Nikau doesn’t trust them but Ari thinks they need to focus on Tane. Ari, Nikau and Bella go to the hospital and find the tent being removed. Logan says the danger of secondary contamination has passed but Tane still isn’t breathing on his own. Ari and Nikau go in, with Nikau placing the toki pendant on Tane’s chest.

At the Morgan house, Justin is leaving a phone message for Theo, wanting to know where he is, since he didn’t come home last night and Justin doesn’t want Leah to worry on her first day back at work. Leah emerges from her room and asks about Theo. Justin claims he came home late and has already left for work, showing Leah a special breakfast that Theo supposedly made. They head to the Diner where they run into Ziggy. Leah asks her about Theo. Ziggy says he’s a handful then, noticing Justin’s look, says that he uses his initiative and is great with customers.

Nikau joins Bella in the corridor. A nurse appears with a tray of red roses which she says were left for Tane. Nikau checks the note and sees it simply says “Get well soon.” He angrily dumps then in the bin, telling Bella that Felicity was sending Tane red roses. They head out to the pier where Bella suggests the roses could be from a friend or gym client. Nikau says Felicity’s playing a sick joke on them. Bella tries to get him to focus on Tane being out of isolation but Nikau says they could still lose him.

Mia joins Ari at Tane’s bedside and suggests it helps to see him. Ari wonders where Nikau is and Mia says he went for a walk. Logan comes in and says they’d hoped Tane would improve more. He has another suggestion: Bioscavengers, which are used by the military for preventative purpose during chemical warfare but which can also help afterwards. Ari realises it’s experimental and Logan needs his permission. Meanwhile, Bella goes to see Dean at the surf club and tells him she hasn’t spoken to Nikau because he’s focused on what’s happening with Tane. She then gets an alert on her phone letting her know that Nikau has made a post online dubbing Felicity dangerous and poisonous.

Leah turns up at the garage with lunch, asking Justin and Ziggy where Theo is. Justin claims that he’s gone out to get parts. Leah says she’ll leave the food for when he gets back. Justin tells an amused Ziggy that he needs to find Theo before Leah gets back. He heads to the house and calls out for Theo, but there’s no answer even though there are clothes strewn everywhere and the kitchen is a mess. He leaves Theo a message saying he needs to come back and clean it.

At Tane’s bedside, Ari is fretting over making the call. Mia suggests he needs more time but Ari is still torn. Meanwhile, Bella finds Nikau on the pier and tells him he can’t post things like that online. Nikau insists that people need to know and shows off the comments on the post. Bella says they’re just responding to what he’s written and it’s trolling. Nikau insists Felicity needs to pay for what she’s done and calls it justice, not caring that he might get charged with harassment. Bella says she can’t be a part of this and walks away.

Logan rejoins Ari and Mia and asks if they’ve made a decision yet. Ari grants him permission to use the drugs and signs the forms. Meanwhile, outside the surf club, John thanks Dean for the report and continues to press him to sack Ziggy. After John’s gone, Ziggy comes along, talking about Justin keeping secrets from Leah. Dean says it can be hard to say some things, before blurting out that she’s fired. Ziggy is relieved, since she hated teaching, and suggests they both focus on their own jobs.

Logan checks on Tane and reduces the sedation. Mia notices him moving and Ari urges him to come round. Tane opens his eyes. Meanwhile, Leah arrives home and finds Justin doing the washing up. He claims it was afternoon tea but Leah knows that he’s covering for Theo, saying that she knows he wasn’t at work and didn’t do the breakfast. She says she wanted to see how far Justin would go and wonders what’s really going on.

Logan tells Ari and Mia that the signs are positive. Ari asks Tane if he remembers anything. Tane doesn’t know what happened and can only recall doing TAFE work in the office. Mia cuts short Ari’s questioning and ushers him out. Tane looks confused.
