Tane learns he was the target of the attack. Will Theo and Justin’s truce last? Ryder lands himself in hot water.
Extended Summary
In the hospital corridor, Mia tells Ari that Tane doesn’t need pressure. Ari wants to know if Nikau is right about who was behind the attack but Mia convinces him it needs to wait. Meanwhile, outside the Diner, Theo ignores a call from Justin before Chloe brings him a takeaway. He wonders if she is mad at him about what happened but Chloe dismisses it. He wonders about Ryder and if he was bothered about them bonding. Chloe says it was the right time to break up. Theo says she can give him a call if she feels like getting over it. He leaves as Ryder turns up, having been summoned by Chloe. She says they have to talk about the business.
Justin is searching the house for the remote control as Leah wonders why he didn’t tell her about Theo. Justin says she was worried about Marilyn and only just out of hospital herself. Leah gives him the remote, which was mixed up in the laundry. Theo arrives and Leah tells him to sit down. Back at the Diner, Irene and Ryder discuss the fact there’s no improvement with Marilyn while Roo’s micro-managing Martha’s nurses. Chloe asks if there’s anything she can do to help and Ryder jokingly suggests selling a kidney to pay Roo’s hotel bills. They note they still care about each other.
Leah tells Theo that their home isn’t a motel and Justin says he needs to turn up to work. Theo says he was out with some mates and got too drunk to drive back. Justin says he needs to take responsibility. Theo complains about only sweeping floors when he was in charge of customer relations at Dmitri’s place. Justin sarcastically asks if he wants to go back there. Theo storms out and Leah follows him down to the beach, reminding him that he came because he needed her help. Theo is surprised that Justin covered for him. Leah says Theo needs to start showing respect and also to help out around the house and pay board. Theo apologises but isn’t keen on having to hug Justin.
Ari and Mia are visiting Tane. Mia says Chloe sends her love and Nikau will be there soon. He can’t remember what happened and asks them. Ari admits that the attack targetted him. Tane doubts that it’s Felicity, saying she wouldn’t do something like this. Ari says the police aren’t telling them anything. During the night, Ari is sitting by Tane’s bedside. Tane tosses and turns, dreaming about the drugged drink, stumbling in the office and the person with the rose and the chemicals.
Theo joins Justin at the garage where he’s sweeping the floor. Theo apologises for being a jerk and asks for one more chance, saying Justin was right and he’s doing this for Leah. Justin hands him the broom and suggests they get a beer and watch the game. Next morning, Ryder meets Chloe on the beach and admits he was asleep when she called, since Mackenzie has him on late shift. Chloe shows him that they have orders but not as many as usual. She wonders if they should offer discounts but Ryder says they’re barely breaking even. Theo comes along and comments on it being civilised between them. He suggests they hang out but Ryder bluntly says they’re busy. Chloe suggests they could do it another time.
At the Diner, Chloe is horrified to read customer reviews saying orders never arrived and they didn’t get refunds. Ryder and Irene try to calm her and Ryder sends her to sort out the delivery order. He comments to Irene on not being able to walk away after breaking up. Meanwhile, Mia joins Ari at the hospital. He tells her about Tane’s restless night and Tane reveals he’s awake. Ari has checked on Marilyn. Tane tells them about his dream: He remembers a woman coming into the office but isn’t sure if he recognised her, and that she had a rose.
Leah tells Irene that she thinks Theo’s turned a corner. Nearby, Chloe is on the phone to the supplier and loses her temper, before telling Ryder they haven’t paid an invoice. Ryder says he’ll sort it out with the business credit card. Outside, Leah and Justin comment on him bonding with Theo, who’s even doing his washing. Back at the house, Theo puts aside a vacuum cleaner and brings a box through. It is mostly kids’ things that he dubs junk, not realising the significance of Mason’s name on the box.
Irene and Leah discuss the fact Chloe’s taking Marilyn’s shift. Ryder talks things over with the supplier then sorts the payment on his phone…then realises, to his horror, that he’s sent $2000 instead of $200. Meanwhile, Justin arrives home and is impressed at Theo cleaning. Theo suggests he take the box to a charity shop but Justin gets angry, saying to keep his hands off other people’s things.
Ryder says he’s maxed out the credit card and Leah points out the bank have charged a fee. She suggests the supplier might reimburse him. Theo arrives and tells Leah that he needs to talk. They head out onto the pier where he says that Justin’s blown up at him. He explains about the box and Leah realises it was Mason’s, explaining he was Justin’s brother and passed away not that long ago. Theo is instantly contrite. Back at the house, Justin leafs through the box and finds a photo of the five siblings, looking at it teary-eyed.
