Extended Summary

Justin is trying to stall with Doctor Taylor and the rest of the panel, saying Tori will be there any minute. Leah and Christian are helping Tori do her hair and make-up and put on a jacket over her bed clothes. She hits a further stumbling block when she realises Grace has grabbed her notes. Justin pretends there’s a connection problem and drags out the conversation until Tori, after a bit of a pep-talk from Christian, takes over, claiming her “secretary” is new. Meanwhile, Nikau is using Bella’s trick of staying outside the bedroom until she comes out. Bella insists it’s her decision to give up photography. Nikau says the camera doesn’t have power over her but Bella tells him to leave.

Outside, Ryder and Chloe have finished another long night and have deliveries to do. Chloe suggests she do it on her own but Ryder says he’ll be fine after a nap. Nikau appears and says he stuffed up again. He asks Ryder to talk to Bella. Chloe encourages him to go and Nikau offers to do the deliveries with her. Ryder heads up to the flat where Bella is putting the camera away. He says he heard she needed a shoulder to cry on and hugs her.

At the surf club, Alf and Roo are putting up a poster advertising the fundraiser. Roo asks John if she can count on him. After a bit of bumbling, John says to put him down for a table but is a bit shocked that that means six people. Given that the only alternative is eight, he agrees. Meanwhile, Justin and Leah have taken Grace for a walk on the beach. Justin thinks he saved Tori’s interview. Leah wonders if he’s okay with it now. Justin still thinks the job will go to a local and it would take a miracle for Tori to get it.

Taylor asks Tori about moving to the UK. She says she feels she’s done everything she can where she is and wants to help elsewhere. Theo staggers in and Christian catches him, looking after him as Tori just about manages to keep the interview going, asking about the team. At the Diner, Justin gets Leah to give him a cake as a reward. John comes in and tells them about the six tickets he has and how people will be snapping them up, but they don’t seem to take the hint. Leah gets a call from Christian and they rush off, with John taking Justin’s cake. They arrive at the house as Tori is finishing the interview. Tori and Christian want to take Theo to hospital for x-rays and CT but he refuses, saying he just needs to rest. Leah agrees but wants to know what happened.

Bella and Ryder are sat outside the Diner with her explainig she felt sick taking the photos. Ryder suggests she take photos of something other than Nikau but Bella says it’s everything and she doesn’t want it to change. Ryder asks if she’s breaking up with Nik but Bella says she wants to be with him and move forward. Ryder asks if she explained that before kicking him out. Meanwhile, Chloe and Nikau have finished the deliveries but Nikau has been quiet. Chloe gets a text from Ryder asking to meet him and Bella. Nikau pulls over, saying he’s ruined photography for Bella and worrying she’ll break up with him. Chloe suggests he goes and sees her.

Tori and Christian have packed up the makeshift office and leave Leah and Justin to handle things. Theo says he was asleep in his car and a couple of guys tried to steal it. Justin is sceptical that he fought off two guys but Theo says he needed to keep his car. He says he called the police but couldn’t give them a description. Leah insists he stays there, saying she’ll clear it with Tori. When she gets the call, Tori agrees. She and Christian discuss the interview, with Christian assuring her she was professional.

Nikau and Chloe arrive outside the Diner and are met by Ryder and Bella. Bella and Nikau walk off for a chat. Chloe comments that relationships shouldn’t be that hard. Ryder notes he and Chloe have had their ups and downs. He wonders if she’d ever cheat. Chloe says she’d never meet anyone as nice, funny and tired as him. Ryder admits he got home late from work and had to do the board shop rosters. Further down the beach, Bella insists to Nikau that she doesn’t want to do photography anymore and he needs to stop pushing her. Nikau is still worried that he took away something she loved but Bella insists she doesn’t want to break up with him, they just need to move forward instead of turning back time.

Leah gives Theo a coffee that includes marshmallows. She wonders why he didn’t call her or Dimitri. Theo thinks Dimitri wouldn’t care. Leah says she’ll take the rest of the day off work and call him. She asks Justin to make Theo a sandwich. Justin complies and it is clear from Leah’s side of the phone conversation that Dimitri isn’t bothered. Justin tries to question Theo but Theo sticks to his story that he was jumped. Justin tries to get him to follow up with the police and warns him he’s watching him.

At the Diner, John is trying to convince Ryder to buy some of the tickets for him and Chloe, but Ryder points out he’s broke. He sits with Alf and Roo and shows Chloe a text from Bella thanking her for her help. Chloe says she needs to drop off some paperwork with Leah. Ryder offers to drive her but Chloe says he’s too tired so leaves him behind. Theo is thanking Leah for having his back as Chloe arrives and is introduced to him. Justin takes Leah into the bedroom for a chat. Chloe asks about Theo’s bruised face and he says the other guy doesn’t have a scratch. Justin warns Leah that there’s something off with Theo and asks her to be careful.
