Extended Summary

Tane is filling out his employee form at the gym. Mia asks Ziggy how the job search is going. Ziggy says she’s had a lot of rejection and heard nothing from Justin, but at least she gets to spend more time at the beach. Tane tries on the uniform. At the hospital, Christian talks to Rachel about her rehab sessions. Rachel knows he’s avoiding answering her question about postponing his wedding to Tori but agrees to let him off the hook for now, although she’ll want answers later. Christian exits and runs into Jasmine, telling her he’s staying at the hospital because he’s on call. Jasmine points out the hospital expected him to be in Victoria getting married, meaning he’s chosen to be on call, so wonders if he’s avoiding Tori.

Bella is showing Emmett her photographs as Nikau returns from his room. Emmett says they’re good but not exceptional and a picture should make people feel something. Mia returns as Emmett arranges to meet Bella at the Diner in the morning. Nikau says he’ll go to bed and Bella comments on him being tired after the workout. Next morning, Marilyn and Roo are walking to the bait shop talking about early starts and are stunned to find Alf there already. He says he was on autopilot and had already opened up before remembering Roo was supposed to do that. He asks Marilyn to get a cuppa while he shows Roo what to do but Roo insists she already knows and sends him on his way.

Nikau wakes up to be greeted by Bella bringing him breakfast in bed: A juice and a cold pizza from last night. Nikau takes the juice but seems reluctant to take the pizza. Mia asks if they’re decent and says they’ve got a visitor: Sienna, who just walks into the room and comments on Nikau’s unhealthy breakfast. Nikau tells her to get out, and he and Bella put a few more clothes on before joining her in the front room. Sienna explains she’s looking for Emmett. Bella says she can get him to call her but Sienna says she needs him involved with a new job. Bella says she’s meeting him at the Diner so Sienna says to text him to let him know she’ll see him there. Bella tells Nikau she thinks this is Sienna’s way of saying there’s not going to be an exhibition.

Ziggy is walking Tane to the gym and admits she’s starting to get fed up of spending all day surfing. Tane admits he’s worried about letting Mia down and Ziggy reassures him. Mia appears and congratulates Tane on being early. Later, Tane is in the gym when the phone starts ringing. Tane answers it but fumbles on how to introduce the place, forgetting the name of the gym. Mia returns in time to take the call off him before it deteriorates too much.

Bella and Nikau are approaching the Diner. Sienna walks ahead of them, having a rather dictatorial phone conversation with an assistant. Roo calls out to Nikau from the bait shop, asking where the paperwork is: She doesn’t want to admit to Alf that she doesn’t know anything, but is having problems finding things. Nikau gets agreement from Bella and Sienna for him to stay and help. Sienna sweeps into the Diner and sits with Emmett while Bella hovers nearby. Sienna says she’s got a new model signed up to the agency who has specifically asked for Emmett. Emmett reminds her he’s got a month off, which as a freelancer he’s allowed. Sienna argues she’s provided him with a pay cheque for a decade but Emmett says the exhibition is non-negotiable. He and Bella leave.

Christian tells Rachel that not too long ago he was clinically dead. Tori saved him when it should have been impossible and ever since he’s been wondering why he survived. He says he was on the way to pick up his wedding suit when something drew him to the skydiving centre: He thinks that’s what he was meant to do. Rachel is shocked that he’s saying he was there to save her and asks for some time. Later, Jasmine is checking on Rachel when Christian comes back and says he’s arranged for one of his colleagues to take over the case, noting he was unprofessional earlier. However, Rachel agrees with him. She admits her friends didn’t buy her the jump; she bought it herself and knew as soon as she got out of the plane that something was wrong. She thought she was going to die, then she heard him. She doesn’t want another doctor.

Ziggy is taking a shower outside the surf club as Mia and Tane pack up after a class. Sienna comes past and gives a rather abrupt response to Mia asking how things went. Tane tells Ziggy about messing up the phone call and she points out the gym name is on his shirt. At the Diner, Roo brings Nikau in, getting advice about how long a kayak rent lasts, and, despite his protests, asks Marilyn to get him a box of muffins as a thank you. Nikau asks how she doesn’t know how to run the bait shop after Alf’s run it for years. Roo argues that she teaches English but Alf couldn’t name a single Bronte sister. Alf comes in at that moment and offers Charlotte and Emily. They cover up what they were talking about.

Emmett looks over Bella’s photos at the flat and says they’re amazing and maybe even exceptional. Nikau turns up and gives them the muffins, before getting a text from Sienna saying to meet her alone. He leaves and Bella comments on the way Sienna treats him. Emmett recalls she wasn’t always like that, recalling she used to be funny with crazy ideas. Bella realises they used to be together and suggests she might be a genuine person deep down but Emmett says they’re different people now. Nikau meets Sienna at Salt where she shows him some photos of a muscley model. Nikau asks if she’s making a point and Sienna says she’s just checking out the competition. She says he has a shoot next week and until then she wants less pizza and more exercise.

Ziggy approaches Tane at the gym and asks if he works there. He says he has the shirt to prove it but isn’t qualified to give her advice. Mia sends Tane to clear up after a class and Ziggy admits she’s so bored she’s hanging around her boyfriend’s workplace. Down on the beach, Nikau joins Tane who teases him about doing proper work. Nikau says he’s got a job that could set them up but needs Tane’s help to stand out.
