Extended Summary

Bella is taking snaps of Dean as he works outside the surf club, although she insists it’s of the boards. She says she knows he spoke to Emmett and thanks him, while Dean feigns ignorance. Nikau comes along and he and Bella talk about supporting each other’s passions, with him asking for her help in taking photos for his socials. At the flat, Dean returns to find Emmett and Mackenzie coming out of the bedroom. Mackenzie tells Emmett he doesn’t have to go but, getting glares from Dean, Emmett retreats. Mackenzie tells Dean she doesn’t do what he tells her to.

At the hospital, Christian questions Jasmine about the fact Rachel’s BP was elevated during the night. Jasmine says the doctor on duty checked it and it went back down, but Christian wants to be informed of any change in her case. Tori turns up, saying she guessed Christian would be there when he didn’t answer his messages. She asks him for lunch to discuss a new date for the wedding, since she has people asking. Christian wants her to stall them and says he needs to check on Rachel. Tori reluctantly agrees to wait. Christian goes to see Rachel and they banter about her “halo” with him checking her responses. Christian isn’t sure if she’ll need surgery or not but it’s looking hopeful. Rachel describes herself as the luckiest woman around, commenting on the chances of there being a neurosurgeon around when she had the accident.

Bella takes photos of Nikau at the gym. She asks him to have a gelato with her before she meets Emmett but Nikau wants to get another session in, even though he’s already worked out today. Bella gets a text from Emmett and goes to meet him, leaving Nikau pumping weights. Meeting up in the surf club, Bella starts to tell Emmett some ideas but he tells her to stop taking practice shots and work out what she’s going to do. After Bella’s gone, Dean again comes over and tells Emmett to stay away from Mackenzie. Emmett says he can keep his private and professional lives separate but Dean says everything Mackenzie does ends in disaster.

Tori and Jasmine have gone for lunch at Salt. Tori says she wants to marry Christian and start her life together and Jasmine asks if she wants fries with that. Tori notes she should be marrying Christian now and doesn’t understand why he’s choosing a stranger over that. On the balcony, Mackenzie sees Emmett down below and calls out to him, inviting him to come up, but he shakes his head and walks on. Mackenzie sees Dean behind him and storms downstairs, confronting Dean when he comes back in. Dean says he doesn’t care what she gets up to but doesn’t want her messing things up for Bella. Mackenzie angrily says that she won’t let him control her.

Bella joins Nikau at the gym and asks him to help her take her photos, acting as a model. Nikau doesn’t stop lifting weights throughout the conversation and says it’s in his contract to stay fit and this is his work. Bella gives in and leaves. Outside, Mackenzie is leaving a phone message for Emmett, asking him to meet her. Bella comes back and Mackenzie asks her where Emmett is. Bella says to keep her out of it. Mackenzie leaves another message.

Tori and Jasmine arrive back at the hospital. Tori thanks Jasmine for the pity lunch and they discuss Jasmine working in ICU now. Tori hopes Christian will be free once Rachel’s better. She goes to Rachel’s room where Christian and Rachel are joking about her going roller blading. Rachel sees Tori in the doorway and Christian introduces her as his fiance. Rachel asks when the big day is and Tori coldly asks if this was why Christian couldn’t meet her for lunch. She tries to leave but Christian catches up with her before the lift comes and says it’s part of his job to check how Rachel’s recovering. Tori wishes he was having fun with her, not Rachel, and Christian says he can’t commit to another date for the wedding until he knows how her case finishes. Tori walks away with Jasmine watching them.

Nikau catches up with Bella, who is snapping shots on the pier. She has been taking photos of the landscape, saying it’s a less opinionated model. Nikau says he wants to help her now and Bella takes some photos of him. Meanwhile, Emmett turns up at Salt. Mackenzie is delighted to see him and tries to arrange another hook-up but he says he needs to focus on the exhibition and Bella is talented: Mackenzie’s making it too complicated. Mackenzie chases him downstairs and shouts after him that he can’t dump her because they weren’t together. Mackenzie blames Dean, who asks why she’s upset if Emmett meant nothing.

At the hospital, Christian tells Jasmine that he doesn’t feel comfortable leaving Rachel when things could still go wrong. Jasmine tries to argue Tori’s point of view and why she’s concerned with the wedding being in limbo. Christian quickly drops the subject when Rachel is walked through by a nurse. At the Parata house, Bella is trying to get Nikau to order takeaway. It becomes a moot point when Emmett turns up with food. He says he’s told Sienna he’s taking a week off to focus on the exhibition. Nikau takes a container of the takeaway and heads into his room. He puts the container on his desk and removes the vial of hunger suppressant from a drawer, before also putting that back untouched.

Christian goes to see Rachel and tells her she’s making progress. Rachel has heard that he postponed his wedding for her and is confused. Christian says he took a vow to put his patients first and he’d make the same choice again. Rachel asks why.
