Extended Summary
Ziggy and Dean are driving along, both smiling, but the smiles start to fade as they arrive back in town. They stop the car and Ziggy goes over to Ben and Maggie, who congratulate her on completing the rally and tell her they’ve got a surprise for her at home. Ben offers to travel in the car with her. Dean, who has been sat in the car throughout, walks away without a word. Meanwhile, Mason tells Justin and Tori his hearing is next Monday. Justin tries to get things organised, saying they need to talk to his lawyer about how cases like this have been won in the past, but Tori thinks the law’s black and white. Justin reminds her they were told Mason could get a sympathetic judge but Tori says the newspaper article shows Mason feels no remorse. She berates him while he sarcastically thanks her for her support.
Ben, Maggie and Ziggy arrive back at the farm house. Ziggy wonders about the surprise and Coco steps into view. Ziggy is delighted to see her; Coco explains she came back for Raffy’s party and has to leave tomorrow afternoon. They discuss Ziggy raising $5000. Coco wonders how she ended up partnered with Dean and Ziggy awkwardly says he was available, with Ben adding that he helped fix the car up. Ziggy quickly excuses herself to have a shower. Coco looks suspicious. Dean arrives back at his caravan and collapses onto the bed. He looks at photos of himself and Ziggy on his phone, including selfies of them in bed.
Justin and Mason walk on the beach. Mason is annoyed at Tori’s attitude but Justin understands, wondering why Mason did the article. Mason insists that the situation’s bigger than him and he wants to help Raffy and people like her: He isn’t going to stop that just to stay out of jail. Justin reiterates they should go and see his lawyer. Meanwhile, Brody and Simone arrive at the Morgan house, with Brody finishing a phone call about a contract. He assures Simone that while he’s sad, he’s looking forward to a new start with her. Tori comes through, surprised to see them there, and Brody explains he’s sold Salt. Tori is thrown but hugs him and says congratulations.
Ben sees Dean near the surf club and calls him over. Dean says he doesn’t start back at work until tomorrow. Ben says Ziggy told them about what they got up to on the trip; Dean is slightly relieved to realise he’s talking about pranks. Ben wonders if there’s something else she should have told them. Dean quickly goes for a surf. Meanwhile, Ziggy is showing Coco her photos of the event and talking about the scenery to her and Maggie. Coco notices a photo of a shirtless Dean, with Ziggy claiming he got her to take it because the lighting was good. Maggie stops Coco questioning Ziggy about how she got Dean to come along. Ziggy asks about the party and Coco says she met her “awful ex” and had a go at him. Ziggy excuses herself and Maggie tells Coco not to mention Brody unless Ziggy does. In her room, Ziggy leaves Dean a phone message asking why he didn’t say goodbye and eventually saying she’ll see him around.
Leah notices a morose Justin and Mason coming into the Diner. They explain about the sentencing hearing. The lawyer has said it would help to get a letter from a doctor confirming the medicinal benefits of cannabis oil but they don’t have much time to find one. Leah suggests asking Tori, although they’re not sure she’d do it. Meanwhile, Tori asks Brody about the buyer. All Brody knows is that it’s a woman in the city but she’s offering enough for him to start again. Simone explains she’s been offered a job a few hours away and they’re hoping Brody can get somewhere nearby. Brody tells a teary Tori that she’s still got Justin and Mason.
Ben arrives home to find Maggie and Coco trying to decide what to have for dinner, since they’re having a meat free night. Ben suggests Italian and Coco agrees if they have quinoa instead of pasta. Ben mention seeing Dean and asks Ziggy about them doing the second leg. Maggie and Coco also wonder why her social media posts suddenly stopped. Ziggy claims there was no reception and excuses herself again. Meanwhile, Dean arrives back at his caravan and finds his phone. He listens to Ziggy’s message but doesn’t reply.
The Astonis are finishing off their meal. Ben and Maggie go to do the washing up. Ziggy tries to volunteer to wipe but is told to catch up with Coco. She ducks out of it by watching TV, quietly telling Coco they’ll talk later. Ben and Maggie are aware something is up and privately wonder what happened between Dean and Ziggy. Meanwhile, Dean is on the balcony at Salt. Brody joins them, observing that Dean’s back, with Dean rejoining that Brody’s still here. Brody tries to question Dean about the trip with Ziggy but Dean replies that Brody doesn’t have the right to ask about her anymore.
Ziggy and Coco are sat up chatting. With a bit of pressing, Ziggy confirms that she and Dean hooked up. Coco asks for details and Ziggy says it was more than once, and that they only lasted half a day on the second leg before going off and doing their own thing and she felt good about herself for the first time in a while. Coco wonders if it was a holiday fling or if she really likes him. Ziggy says she thought it might be serious but things changed when they got back to town so it can’t have meant much to him. Meanwhile, Justin and Mason are also still up. Tori comes home and is surprised to find them there. Justin asks if she’s seen Brody. Tori says Salt’s sold; Justin is surprised since last he heard Simone was leaving. Tori says they just have to support him. Mason bitterly notes that Brody does drugs and cheats on his wife and gets support. Justin shushes him and tells Tori about the letter. Tori says she’s not comfortable doing that. Mason sarcastically tells her not to put him before her reputation or ego, before heading off to bed.
Next morning, Ben and Maggie try to ask Coco about what she and Ziggy were saying the previous night but neither of them give anything away. Ziggy tells Coco that it’s probably best as a holiday fling. Meanwhile, Brody and Simone are in bed in her caravan, looking at potential restaurants. Simone finally finds one that seems suitable – Vini’s Table, a gourmet restaurant surrounded by vineyards – but Brody points out it’s in the Yarra Valley in Victoria and they wanted something closer to his family. Nearby, Ziggy surprises Dean outside his caravan and checks his phone, seeing he got her message but didn’t reply. Dean says she went weird as soon as they got back to town but Ziggy insists he did. They kiss and head into his van, which is seen by Brody and Simone. Brody says he’s okay with it but his expression suggests otherwise.
