Justin is in a world of pain over Willow. Are Raffy’s school woes clouding her judgement? The Bait Shop is becoming a little too cosy for Alf and Ben.

Extended Summary

Mason supports Justin as he arrives home but Justin ends up falling over a chair, which brings Tori and Raffy out of their rooms. Justin is delighted to see them and suggests they all take Buddy for a walk. Mason manages to get Justin into his room and dump him on his bed, where he immediately passes out. Tori notes he’s a mess. Next morning, Alf struggles to find somewhere to put the board advertising the bait shop amidst the amount of board shop stuff littering the exterior and tells Ben, who’s on the phone, that his ute is blocking the drive. John turns up and comments on the increased business; Ben credits Dean’s display and the boards he raffled off at the fundraiser. Alf again tries to get his attention but Ben gets another phone call.

Tori and Mason talk about Justin getting drunk, with Mason noting at least Willow didn’t see it. Raffy emerges, dressed for her first day back at school, and confirms she took her pills and has her school stuff, although she’s not expecting much to have changed in a week. Tori walks her out after asking Mason to keep an eye on Justin, who is still passed out on his bed. At the Diner, Irene, Leah, John and Marilyn compare notes on Justin’s antics. Tori arrives with Raffy who joins Ryder and Coco. Marilyn briefly greets her and Raffy elects to walk in with her friends rather than have Tori take her. Tori orders a peppermint tea and a strong coffee, with the others guessing the coffee’s for Justin. She asks what she needs to know.

Coco, Ryder and Raffy walk through a park area. The others assure Raffy that things have moved on at school. Raffy is worried that she doesn’t feel any different on the new medication and may still get stressed. Ryder suggests a code word so they can let her know if she’s getting too angry. Coco suggests serenity, but after asking Raffy her favourite fruit Ryder suggests watermelon, giving a long speech (which Coco tries to join in with) about how hearing the word will have a calming influence on her from now on. They arrive at school to little fanfare: Roo welcomes Raffy back and Raffy gives Maggie her medical update. Maggie apologises for suspending her. The teens go to Raffy’s locker and find a drawing of a tough-looking girl stuck to it. Raffy is thrown when Ryder and Coco remind her Abbi is away for a month, meaning it can’t have been her, but tears the drawing up and moves on.

Tori returns home and Mason explains he had to stay with Justin rather than go to his end of exam celebration. Tori sends him to work then goes to Justin’s room and opens the blinds, waking him. She tells him to have a shower and then they’ll talk. Soon after, she sets painkillers and coffee down in front of him and asks how much he remembers of the previous night. Justin admits there are gaps so Tori explains he ruined Mason’s night, made a pass at Leah and had Irene threaten to call the police on him. He also has his shirt on the wrong way round.

Raffy is alone in the classroom until the rest of the class, including Ryder and Coco, come in. As Roo arrives, Raffy realises she brought the wrong book and left the right one in her locker. Coco offers to share. At the Diner, John and Marilyn discuss Raffy; Marilyn wonders if a teacher should escort her everywhere but John thinks she wouldn’t like the special attention. Ben comes in and tells Leah someone has ordered “his and hers” boards for a wedding anniversary. Alf takes him aside and points out that Ben’s stuff is all over the forecourt and he keeps blocking Alf’s deliveries. He thinks the shop isn’t big enough for the both of them.

As the class leave, Roo asks to speak to Raffy in private. She asks how her first lesson went and Raffy quips that at least she didn’t have a seizure. Roo checks she’s okay with homework and offers to get a tutor but Raffy insists she can cope. In the office, Maggie is surprised by a visit from Ben who tells her about the issues at the shop. Maggie suggests renting a shop in Yabbie Creek but Ben thinks they need to be near the sea, which also rules out working from home. He isn’t keen on the idea of asking Alf to move out but Maggie suggests personal feelings can’t rule business.

Justin and Tori walk along the beach. Tori says she’s sorry about Willow and Justin says she wants them to work out where they are. He asks whether they’re actually good together, and Tori admits they’re very different, but doesn’t think it’s hopeless. Justin says that it feels like giving up and he should concentrate on Raffy. Tori says Raffy has the rest of them to look after her. At the Diner, John and Marilyn are about to leave but decide to stay when they see Justin arriving. Justin awkwardly apologises to Irene who says she understands, also telling him that Willow was at the movies with Robbo and Jasmine: She doesn’t know and Irene isn’t going to tell her. Justin turns to Leah but doesn’t seem to know what to say. After a few moments’ silence, Leah suggests they forget about the previous night.

Ben nervously approaches Alf near the pier. He comments that Alf’s had the shop for a while and Alf says 20-odd years. Ben stammers as Alf stares impassively at him, finally saying that he’ll move out. Alf thanks him. Back at school, Roo asks Maggie how they can help Raffy. Maggie suggests group work or regular reviews but Roo is worried she’ll see it as tutoring and thinks she’s in denial about how much help she needs. Maggie calls out to Coco, asking if they’re still meeting for lunch. Raffy realises she’s forgotten her history book and doesn’t want to share again; Ryder says there’s time to go back to hers for it. Coco is abruptly left alone and calls out that she’ll see them at the Diner.

Justin is apologising to Tori and Mason. Ryder and Raffy turn up and Raffy wonders the bag Justin’s holding; he explains he’s going to see Ava for a few days and promises he won’t wake her up coming home drunk again. Raffy wonders about her book, which isn’t where she left it, and Tori says she tidied up and put it under the coffee table. Justin, Tori and Mason all file out leaving Raffy to complain to Ryder about Tori hiding her stuff. At the Diner, Ben insists to Maggie that he didn’t chicken out, recalling what Dean said about the shop needing to be near the surf. Coco joins them and says Ryder almost burnt down the science lab. Maggie quizzes her about Raffy and she insists she’s doing okay.

Raffy and Ryder are walking back to school. Raffy complains about the chaos that she moved in with John and Marilyn to get away from: Justin and Willow, Mason and Dempsey, Tori getting pregnant… Ryder cuts the rant short with a shout of “Watermelon!” Raffy feels down but Ryder assures her she’s still awesome: Cute and smart and he’s in awe of her. They stare at each other and almost kiss, then jump apart hastily. Raffy says she has to see Marilyn about something and will see him at school, hurrying away.
