Extended Summary

Ben is on his phone at the Diner, discussing needing a space. Roo comments to Alf that it seems odd that the landlord’s the one moving out but Alf is dismissive. Ben tells them a real estate agent has arranged him two viewings, in Yabbie Creek and Reefton Lakes. After he’s gone, Roo tries to point out to Alf that Ben’s only moving so as not to upset him. Jasmine comes in and asks Leah’s advice on some holiday brochures she has but Leah has to serve customers first. When they do get to talk, Jasmine explains she’s planning a holiday for Robbo before the baby comes, meaning she can’t go too far. Leah tries to convince her it’s not weird to ask Tori when the appointments are.

Raffy is pacing at the Palmer house when Marilyn turns up; Raffy says she let herself in. She considers confiding in Marilyn, giving a long rambling speech about something that could be nothing, before eventually saying to forget about it. Marilyn offers to walk her to school. There, Coco is asking Ryder why Raffy didn’t come back with him after they got the book. Ryder is saved from answering by Raffy’s arrival and beats a retreat. Coco tells Raffy she’s “busted” for not letting her know she’d be late. They head into classroom, where Raffy awkwardly looks at Ryder before taking a seat behind him, with Coco next to her, wondering what’s going on. Roo arrives to start the class.

Tori is doing yoga near the beach. Jasmine approaches and, with Tori bent over, attempts to lean down to get her attention only for her phone to start ringing, startling Tori into toppling over. Jasmine says she needs to check her baby appointments, then realises she needs a better opening line so explains about the holiday and suggests they meet up and chat later. A bemused Tori says she’s free now and agrees to go with Jasmine to her place. Once there, she notes it’s weird being there after the times she spent there with Ash. Jasmine offers to go somewhere else but Tori says it feels okay now, since if her past relationships had gone differently she wouldn’t be expecting a baby now. Jasmine cheerily agrees that it’s now a path, not a string of failed relationships, then realises she’s saying the wrong thing again.

Roo tells the class that, having covered Iran’s role in World War II, they now need to cover their relationship with the West and the Soviet Union. She tells them to choose pairs. Both Raffy and Ryder ask Coco to partner them. Coco suggests the other two work together but Ryder asks another boy, Luke, to partner him. Coco asks Raffy if they’ve had a fight. At the end of class, Ryder chases Raffy from the room and tries to get her to talk. Coco follows and says she’s caught them: They both protest innocence and Coco says she just thought they were leaving without her. Ryder gives a forced laugh and Coco asks what he’s done. Ryder says it’s not his fault; Coco takes this as evidence something has happened but he says that nothing’s happened and it wasn’t his fault. Coco asks if they’re both willing to go to the Diner with her; they plaster on smiles and agree.

Tori and Jasmine come to the conclusion that the holiday could be arranged for just before or just after the twenty week scan. Jasmine also stresses they won’t go far so Robbo can come back. They talk about the situation; Jasmine is pleased with how much Robbo cares about the baby and Tori stresses she isn’t interested in Robbo romantically and wants Jasmine to be part of things with the baby. At the Diner, Ryder tells the girls that Luke thinks the cold war was a really long winter and wants to do the presentation in costume; Coco laughs but Raffy is silent. Coco goes to meet Maggie. Ryder tries to talk to Raffy but she asks Marilyn if she can come home with her to study. Roo comes in as they leave and notices Ryder looking frustrated. Ryder eventually admits he nearly kissed Raffy. He hopes they can just ignore it and go on being friends but Roo thinks they need to talk about it. She asks if Ryder likes Raffy and he denies it.

Back at the Palmer house, Raffy asks Marilyn if her medication could be making her confused. Marilyn suggests she asks Tori. Raffy asks if she can spend the night there, explaining Justin came home drunk and woke her up and she needs a good night’s sleep. Marilyn says they can talk to Tori when they pick up her things. At the Diner, Ben tells Alf the real estate agent was a shark: The place in Yabbie Creek was big and expensive and the one in Reefton Lakes was a garage in the middle of nowhere so he won’t get foot traffic. Alf sums his problem up as needing somewhere small and close to the sea and says he has an idea.

Alf shows Ben to the surf club, saying he can set up shop on a bench in the corner and use the garage as a work shop. Ben likes the idea and asks how they can make it happen. Alf says it’s not just up to him but to the committee and the main problem would be John. He suggests Ben talk to him and not let on he spoke to Alf. Ben goes to John’s place and puts the idea to him. John asks what’s in it for them. Ben says they’ll have the rent money and it’ll bring in more customers for the juice bar. John isn’t convinced people who come to buy boards will also want gelato and says it might bring in River Boys, plus Dean works for Ben. Ben suggests it might be best to have Dean where John can keep an eye on him; the flattery almost works but John still isn’t convinced.

Alf and John enter the Diner. Alf tells John he doesn’t think it’s a bad idea. John reiterates his worries about the River Boys and Dean and says it needs to go before the full board which will take a month. Alf replies that it can be discussed at the committee meeting tomorrow. John doesn’t think it’ll get onto the agenda but Alf replies that he’s already put it on the agenda, confirming that he spoke to Ben and it was his idea. Nearby, Jasmine asks Leah’s advice on a baby grow she wants to buy Tori. Leah says it looks cute but has too many buttons and offers to help pick a present. Back at the Morgan house, a disappointed Tori asks Raffy if they’ve driven her away. Raffy insists it’s not that: She needs a good night’s sleep, even with Justin visiting Ava, and Marilyn agrees she can get it at theirs. While Raffy’s packing, Marilyn asks Tori about side effects, relating what Raffy said earlier. Tori doesn’t think they should interrogate her and, when she emerges, gives her a hug and says she can talk to her. Raffy insists it was hypothetical but tells Tori she’ll make a great mum and she’ll see her tomorrow. Left alone, Tori comments to the baby that it’s just them and they should have ice cream.

Next morning, Ryder follows Raffy through the park area, wanting to talk. Raffy says nothing happened so there’s nothing to talk about. Ryder asks if that means they can just carry on being friends and then demands a high five. They catch up with Coco, who is pleased they’re normal again, although Raffy seems slightly uncertain when agreeing. Nearby, Jasmine shows Leah the Book of Firsts she’s bought and Leah agrees she should give it to Tori now. Jasmine heads to the Morgan house but initially gets no response when she goes in, then hears Tori crying. Tori emerges from the bathroom and says she thinks she’s lost the baby.
