Extended Summary

Colby and Chelsea are going for a walk. Colby is frustrated that it’s been days and he hasn’t heard anything from the police. Chelsea reminds him Homicide have reopened the investigation into his dad’s death, although there’s no evidence of his mother’s murder. She tells him to be patient. Later, at the flat, Colby rings McCarthy to try and get an update but there’s no news. He tells Robbo he’s beginning to think he made the wrong choice and should have handled it himself with Dean. Robbo however agrees with Chelsea that he needs to be patient, saying Homicide have to work through all the evidence of a 20-year-old cold case.

A dispirited Tori notes she should probably go to hospital, explaining to Jasmine that she woke up fine but then had cramps and bleeding. Jasmine encourages her to get checked over. She asks if they should call Robbo but Tori wants to wait until she knows for sure. Jasmine offers to go with her. Tori goes to her room but just sits on the bed, looking upset. Jasmine says she’ll help her get something to wear. Meanwhile, Alf and Ben meet up outside the surf club. Ben has things set but is worried about John. Alf says John has only one vote and there’s the rest of the committee. Ben says that if they don’t get the go-ahead he’ll have to rethink the situation at the bait shop. John arrives but makes it clear he hasn’t changed his mind and is going to try and convince the others it’s a bad idea.

Mason is on the sofa with Buddy when Tori and Jasmine arrive back. They tell him Tori lost the baby and they’ve just had an ultrasound at the hospital. Mason expresses his sympathy. Since Robbo still doesn’t know, Tori decides to call him. Jasmine suggests they leave but Tori asks her to stay. Robbo answers her call at the gym but Tori can’t bring herself to say anything, ending the call and rushing out. Robbo tries to ring back and Jasmine suggests she go and tell him, which Mason agrees to. Jasmine meets Robbo on the headland and tells him Tori lost the baby and is doing as well as can be expected. Hiding his upset, Robbo says it was always a possibility and heads off back to work.

Alf is canvassing support with the other committee members and tells Ben it’s about 50/50. John calls the meeting together and Alf introduces Ben. John says they’ll get to him later and as chair of the meeting he’ll decide the agenda. Alf replies that as president he’s proposing they discuss it first and, after a quick vote, tells Ben to proceed. Shortly after, Ben finishes his pitch, talking about the extra money and custom to the surf club. Another committee member, Paula, seems to share John’s views, asking how much profit they’d actually see, but Ben wins her over by offering to supply and maintain the surf club’s own boards for free. John still isn’t a fan, pointing to Ben employing Dean, a River Boy who recently robbed the club. Ben says he can vouch for him and Alf points out John has had plenty of second chances. John has further concerns: The lack of space, the higher insurance and the surf club becoming too commercial.

At Salt, Colby is phoning Murray to ask for information but doesn’t get any more from him than he did from McCarthy. Chelsea suggests taking his mind off things by going to see a movie in Yabbie Creek, even offering to watch a “robots versus aliens” film, but Colby doesn’t think he’d be able to concentrate. Chelsea suggests doing wedding preparations, such as locking down the venue, but Colby is thinking of postponing the wedding. At the Morgan house, Tori is curled up in her room with Buddy. Mason brings her a cuppa and tells her Jasmine is telling Robbo; Tori agrees it’s for the best. Mason asks if they should let Justin or Brody know but Tori can’t think past the fact not too long ago she was telling everyone she was having a baby. Mason reminds her of the encouragement everyone gave him after Dempsey but Tori says that was different: Their pregnancy was an accident but she’s older with fertility issues and it could be her only shot.

Robbo is working at the gym. Jasmine comes in and says she’s worried about him but Robbo insists she shouldn’t be. He says he’s going out for a run alone, pushing past Colby as he exits. Colby looks quizzically at Jasmine. Shortly after, in Salt, Jasmine fills Colby in about the miscarriage. Colby is sympathetic while Jasmine notes Robbo is hiding how much he’s hurting. (As they talk, we see Robbo doing sit-ups outside, looking close to tears.) She wonders why he’s pushing away the person who loves him the most. Colby says to give him time.

Downstairs, Alf is collecting together the written votes on the board shop. John rather smugly tells Ben no hard feelings but the surf club is an upmarket establishment. Alf announces the results of the vote: Five to one in favour. John is flabberghasted, asking whether anyone listened to him and trying to demand another vote, but Ben tells him no hard feelings. Meanwhile, Colby and Chelsea have met up on a bench. Chelsea offers to postpone the wedding if it’s what Colby wants but Colby says Ross has taken too much away from him already and he wants to go ahead. He then gets a call from McCarthy: Homicide have found an associate of Ross’ that Colby’s father was investigating when he was murdered.

Jasmine arrives back at the Morgan house with some food. She asks about Tori and Mason indicates she’s not talking; Tori comes through from the bathroom to her bedroom without saying anything. Jasmine follows her in and talks to her about Robbo, saying the two of them should talk to each other and are the only ones who understand what the other’s going through. At the gym, Robbo is closing up and turning off the lights. Tori comes in and, after a moment, they silently hug each other.
