Willow’s guilt reaches boiling point when she is subpoenaed for Dean’s trial. Can Robbo move past his trauma to help Tori’s future? Struggling to be themselves, Coco and Ryder decide to be just friends.

Extended Summary

Robbo is on the balcony at the flat. Tori joins him and says that she had to ask: There’s a long waiting list and she has fertility issues. Robbo tells her to stop, saying he can’t be a father again after everything that’s happened. Tori apologises and leaves. Meanwhile, Raffy, Ryder and Coco arrive at the surf club. Ryder suggests they have to work on their group project. Coco says she wants to do maths and biology revision as well and suggests an hour of each. She awkwardly asks if that’s okay and the others agree.

Irene isn’t impressed to come downstairs and find Willow lounging on the couch with the sink full of dishes and the remains of her teamaking on the side. Willow says she’s got a day off so will do a spring clean. However, she then gets a call from Robbo insisting she come in. Willow grabs her gym gear from the washing basket and tells Irene she’ll clear up when she gets back. Willow runs into Colby near the beach where he is coming home from work. She is shocked when he tells her Dean’s trial is next week. She insists he can’t go to jail and leaves Dean a phone message.

At the Diner, Irene chats to Leah and Marilyn about Willow living with her. Marilyn thinks it’s good to have young people about but Irene isn’t happy about Willow leaving a mess around. Leah says she could ask her to leave but Marilyn suggests it’s just early days. Meanwhile, Colby turns up at the Diner flat and finds Robbo fixated on repairing a washer on the tap. He tells him Ebony’s trial is over and she got life. Robbo shows no interest and Colby insists he tell him what’s wrong.

Leah approaches Tori outside the Diner. Tori says she asked someone to donate but he said no. Leah is shocked when Tori says it was Robbo, having expected her to ask a work colleague. Tori says he’s kind and compassionate, but she should have thought about his past: Instead, she humiliated herself and hurt him. Up in the flat, Colby is similarly shocked but says Tori isn’t impulsive. He notes Robbo isn’t the obvious choice but he said no so that’s the end of it.

Walking on the beach, Tori tells Leah she interviewed Robbo without giving any thought to him and should have remembered his children. She doesn’t want a child at the expense of a friend. Later, Tori is walking by the Diner when she sees Robbo comes down from the flat and apologises. Robbo says she’ll be a great mum and asks why him. Tori says he’s got a good heart, isn’t terrible to look at and puts others first: She’d want her child to have those qualities. She respects his decision.

Raffy, Ryder and Coco are doing their project on Mao Tse-Tung in silence until Ryder starts coming out with facts and questions. Coco only gives curt responses. Raffy suggests they take a break and Coco leaves. Ryder worries that he annoys her and she’s going to break up with him. Raffy reassures him. Back home, Coco asks Maggie what it was like when she was first dating Ben. Maggie says there were a lot of butterflies, it was new and very easy. Coco says it’s not easy between her and Ryder but she likes spending time with him. Maggie suggests that doesn’t mean they should be a couple.

At the gym, Willow is sending multiple texts to Dean trying to get him to call her when Robbo turns up to relieve her. Since things are quiet, Robbo goes into the office. He looks at a photo of his children, having flashbacks to being with them. Much later, Willow arrives home in a mood, leaving Dean another voicemail. Irene comes downstairs and angrily tells her not to come home making a racket when other people are trying to sleep. She says all her other housemates have been able to follow her rules.

Ryder and Raffy are at the Diner when Coco joins them and asks to speak to Ryder alone. She says she feels like she can’t be herself around him and that he can’t be himself around her. They conclude that they should just be friends. Next day, Raffy and Coco are walking to school together. Ryder joins them and, after a few awkward exchanges, Coco walks on ahead. Raffy tells Ryder that they can be pathetically single together.

Robbo and Tori meet on the pier and Robbo wonders exactly what Tori’s after. Tori says just the donation and permission to tell her child who their father is when they’re old enough: She intends to raise the child as a single mother. Robbo tells her to let him think about it. At the Diner, Willow buys two coffees and tells Colby one of them’s a peace offering for Irene. Colby tells her he heard from Dean who’s fine. Willow isn’t impressed that Dean won’t talk to her and Colby notes he’s doing all right for someone looking at ten years inside. Even though he stresses that’s the worst case scenario, it’s enough to send Willow into a panic.

Willow returns home but a moment later a court officer appears and hands her a subpoena to testify at Dean’s trial. Willow is upset and runs to the bathroom. Irene comes downstairs and hears her crying: She asks if she’s all right but Willow doesn’t answer.
