Extended Summary

Mason is running on the beach, pushing and then coming to a stop. Jasmine comes over and asks how the father-to-be is. Mason says he’s not going to be a father, explaining how Dempsey changed her mind and how he hasn’t been able to get hold of her since. Jasmine says she and Dempsey have mutual friends and she can ask around at the hospital. Mason says he and Tori have already tried but Jasmine says she can be very persuasive. Meanwhile, Irene continues to call out to Willow and threatens to unscrew the door. Willow emerges and Irene wonders if she’s upset about their barney, before correctly guessing it’s about Dean. Willow says she can’t talk about it. Irene says Heath Braxton used to live with her and very little surprises her after that.

Maggie crosses off Day 63 on the calendar. Ben comes in from taking Coco to school and notes he reassured her about seeing Ryder. Maggie says next week she’ll have a month until she stops being a cancer patient. Ben says there’s something else special about the day. With a bit of prompting, Maggie realises it’s the anniversary of their first date: A meal on the beach. They head down to the beach together with Maggie noting she tried to organise a family meal but Ziggy said she’d have to check with Brody and Coco says she’d have to see what Raffy was doing. They run into John and Marilyn. Maggie finds herself distracted by the sight of Ben showering but he thinks she was just wondering if he was wearing sun screen. After the men have moved off, Marilyn notes Ben’s in good nick. Maggie tries to change the subject to Ryder and Coco breaking up. Marilyn observes how strong first love is.

Jasmine sees Dempsey at the hospital and tries to talk to her. Dempsey says she’s on her way to a meeting. Jasmine tries to get her to talk to Mason, saying they’re bound to bump into each other at the hospital. Dempsey replies that they won’t: The meeting is to hand in her resignation. She tells Jasmine to say goodbye to Mason for her. Jasmine tries to get her to talk to Mason herself. Later, Jasmine goes to the gym and tells Mason about seeing Dempsey and that she’s agreed to meet him there in an hour. Jasmine can’t guarantee Dempsey will turn up but thinks she needs closure too.

Willow tells Irene that Dean has priors so will get jail time, possibly ten years. Irene isn’t too sympathetic. Willow says she’s been asked to give evidence against him but can’t…because she was there with him and he did it to help her with her gambling. Later, Irene is on the pier and Leah joins her. Irene says there’s a problem with Willow. Leah says Jasmine told her about Willow’s gambling and that she robbed the gym. Irene mentions the credit card skimming and surf club break-in, then discovers Leah didn’t know that. Irene observes that having to lie about Dean is tearing Willow up and isn’t sure whether she’ll turn her in. Jasmine approaches and Irene asks why she didn’t tell her about Willow, given it was her card that was skimmed and her friend that was bashed…then discovers Jasmine didn’t know either.

Maggie is sitting under a sun shade on the beach, eyeing up Ben as he comes back from a surf. Ben notes she looked distracted and she says she must have nodded off. John approaches as Ben notes Maggie looks flushed and worries she’s been in the sun too long. Despite her protests, Ben and John take her to the Diner. After she assures them she’s fine, Ben goes to take a call from a customer and John goes to get a coffee. Marilyn sits with Maggie, who notes she seems to have a crush on her husband. Marilyn notes she gets flutters when she looks at John sometimes (but after a quick look at him, adds “not always”) and suggests it’s a sign that Maggie’s getting better.

Mason is waiting outside the surf club. Dempsey approaches, but when she sees him she turns and walks in the other direction. Mason runs after her but Dempsey says she said everything she had to say at the hospital: She’s not ready to be a mum and the termination’s booked for next week. She adds that if she hadn’t got pregnant, they’d have never seen each other again. Mason lets her leave. He goes back to the gym, where he gets frustrated at not being able to open the filing cabinet. He eventually pulls it open and drops the file in before leaning against the desk, shattered.

Ben checks Maggie is okay with waiting while he goes to make some adjustments to a board. Marilyn says she can drive Maggie home. After Ben has gone, Maggie tells Marilyn she needs her help. The two of them head back to the farm house, laden down with shopping bags and flowers. Maggie is planning to cook the meal from her and Ben’s first date. Marilyn has agreed to have Coco for the night and excitedly imagines what Ben and Maggie will get up to.

Irene and Jasmine return home; Irene still isn’t happy no-one told her about Willow’s gambling. Willow comes downstairs with her bags packed and Irene gets Jasmine to leave them alone. She wonders if Willow told her hoping she’d turn her in. Willow says Dean confessed to protect her. Irene says she needs to take responsibility herself. Later, Willow is in Salt. She finishes her drink, picks up her bags and heads out.

In the bedroom, Maggie settles the bed, sets up candles and hangs up a red dress. Ben arrives and is impressed with the meal and even more so when he sees Maggie in the dress, complete with wig. Later, after they’ve finished eating, Maggie says she has another surprise. She heads to the bedroom, lights the candles and selects appropriate music and lighting, then changes into a black negligee and calls him through. She says it’s time for him to start sleeping in the same bed as her again and kisses him. Ben starts to kiss her back but then pulls back, saying he can’t, and walks out.
