Maggie begins the stem cell transplant. Willow is forced to face her addiction head on. Are the lines between student and teacher blurring for Hunter and Christina?
Extended Summary
At Salt, Ziggy fills Brody in on the transplant and also shows him the travel voucher. They dream of going to Europe, possibly backpacking, possibly spending all their time in a hotel. Ziggy sees Dean nursing a beer at the end of the bar and asks where his better half is but he doesn’t respond. Back at the motel, Justin and Willow are now both sitting in the same room. Willow wonders why Justin’s still there. Justin thinks they should talk about what she said. Willow says she’s tired of being in that room having the same arguments with him. Justin agrees to go but takes her phone.
Christina is surprised that Hunter is still at the gym and he notes he has to wait for Mason. Christina suggests they fit in some more after hours sessions. Hunter agrees but seems rather nervous. Christina leaves, passing Mason, who quips to Hunter that his lecturers never looked that good. Hunter quickly leaves. Next morning, Justin and Dean run into each other on the beach. Justin says Willow opened up to him and then shut down again. Dean still thinks he’s the best person to help her. Justin walks on and comes across Tori, saying he needs to pick her brains about something.
At the hospital, Ziggy shows Ben and Maggie the wedding photos, especially one of her and Maggie together. She says they can get copies of anything they want and Ben notes Maggie will want the whole album. Ziggy leaves it with them. Ben looks at the photos of Maggie and starts to say she should wear her hair like that when it grows back but Maggie says that’s still a long way off. At the Diner, Alf asks Hunter how his session went yesterday. Hunter gives a muted response. He sits with Mason and says he thinks Christina was hitting on him, mentioning her touching him and being flirtatious. Mason is dismissive of the idea.
Willow turns up at the Diner flat and unleashes a tirade at Dean as she packs her things, saying he dumped her and then told her ex about her and saying she’s done with him. Dean, who has remained silent throughout, asks why she’s still there. Willow wonders what him saying they were good together was about but Dean has lapsed back into silence and she leaves. Shortly after, she is at the motel when Tori shows up. Willow guesses Justin has told Tori everything. Tori says Justin’s not the person to help her whereas she can be objective. She says Justin didn’t cause Willow’s addiction and she needs to accept that.
At Salt, Brody shows Ziggy a selection of cupcakes he put together for Maggie and admits he’s looked up some Parisian restaurants he’d like to go to. Nearby, Dean tells Justin about Willow’s serve. Justin thinks Tori will get through to her. He wonders how Dean’s going to pay off the debt and reluctantly offers him some shifts at the garage. Ziggy interjects that Dean would be mad to turn it down but Dean simply thanks Justin for the offer, then goes to take a call from Brett. Ziggy goes back to the hospital and wonders if Ben and Maggie would like to go on the holiday with her and Brody. They note it’s a long way off that: Maggie will need to be monitored for 100 days to see if the transplant works.
Willow tells Tori that gambling was always fun in the past, recalling how her father was a bookie and she always enjoyed spending time at the track with him. Tori suggests Gamblers Anonymous but Willow isn’t keen on the idea. Tori suggests a counsellor instead. She gives Willow her phone, saying Justin believes in her. Meanwhile, Hunter and Christina meet up near the beach. Christina is surprised he’s there and wonders if his phone’s been playing up. Hunter says it’s just been a hectic day. As they start walking, they discuss Hunter’s fitness drills. Christina wonders if she pushed him too hard last night, saying he needs to feel the burn every time. They both act rather flirtatiously.
Ziggy goes to see Brody, who has already guessed that they’ll have to put off the holiday but says they can still make plans in the meantime. Ziggy is grateful and notes they can still make out in the storeroom. Back at the hospital, Ben watches over Maggie, who seems to be asleep. As he leaves the room, she opens her eyes. Ben goes to the chapel and sits, repeatedly saying that the transplant has to work.
Dean approaches the Diner, on the phone to Brett and complaining about him not waiting for him. He looks in one of the boats and finds a bag. Alf comes out of the bait shop and asks what he’s doing. Dean claims he was considering hiring the boat. Alf is unconvinced and tells him to leave. Meanwhile, Willow meets Justin near the beach. She says she was wrong to blame him and doesn’t have many friends at the moment. Justin tells her about Dean taking on her debt. Willow notes she’s seeing a counsellor that afternoon. Justin offers her a lift and notes it’s not because he doesn’t trust her. He says he meant what he said but she needs to sort this out first.
Not too far away, Dean looks in the bag and finds a large amount of money. He rings Brett and asks how long he’s supposed to hold onto it for. He isn’t keen on keeping it for a week in the same house as an ex-cop but agrees.
