Extended Summary

Robbo is going for a run on the beach. Tori and Mason stop near him and Mason thinks it looks like a good place to sit. Tori notices Robbo looking like he wants to talk to her and hastily suggests they move further down. Mason is bemused, since he thought Tori was Robbo’s biggest fan. Tori insists she’s giving him space, which Mason is sceptical about, so she amends it to focusing on family. Later, Lance turns up at Robbo’s flat and wonders what his call was about. Robbo asks what him still being on the payroll means.

Coco is ignoring texts from Ryder, infuriating Ziggy who tells her to either answer them or mute the phone. Ben tells them to keep it down, since Maggie’s having a lie-in, but Maggie comes through. Her scalp is still itchy so Ziggy offers to go to the chemist and Ben suggests a swim. Coco chimes in that some people shave it all off and seems oblivious to the awkwardness that follows until Ziggy tells her to stop babbling. Maggie goes back to her room, telling Ben she needs to call Roo to say she can’t do marking. Roo gets the call as she is arriving at the Diner with Ryder, who thinks there’s a reason Coco isn’t replying to him and Roo knows about it. Hunter comes in to get takeaway breakfast from Leah and Roo quickly volunteers Ryder to help him at the bait shop.

Maggie comes out of her room and Coco tells her Ben and Ziggy have gone to the chemist. She apologises for upsetting her, saying some of the other children talked about their parents cutting their hair off and finding it empowering. Maggie says that it’s hard enough looking in the mirror and seeing herself sick: No hair will feel like the cancer winning. Coco says they’ll love her anyway. Outside the bait shop, Ryder is continuing to obsess about Coco instead of helping Hunter move things onto the wharf for a barge to pick up. Mason comes along and Ryder starts pestering him as well. When he mentions Jeremy, Mason notes he sounds like a sophisticated older guy. Ryder decides to head round there, unaware Mason was getting rid of him. Hunter isn’t happy about losing his help and tells Mason to go get him lunch.

Lance tells Robbo they could relocate him and give him a new identity, since it seems life in Summer Bay isn’t working out. Robbo admits he doesn’t fit in and that his training means he’s on edge all the time. Lance says he was a talented undercover cop and it’d be a shame to waste it, calling him Ryan. He makes a phone call and says Robbo could go back undercover or do VIP protection or UN peacekeeping. Robbo is somewhat overwhelmed, saying he just wanted a normal life somewhere. Lance suspects if they did that he’d end up in the same place and says the feds have got his back. Later, Robbo is at the bar in Salt. Tori comes in and, after steeling herself, sits next to him. She admits she was pathetic before but says she has things to sort out and can’t do it while being his friend, suggesting maybe after. Robbo tells her he might go back to the feds but admits he still feels closest to Kat there.

Ben and Ziggy arrive back at the farm house with Ryder in tow. Coco takes him aside and tells him it’s a bad time; he wants her to talk to him instead of ignoring him but she ushers him out, saying she’ll talk later. She ponders if Maggie should have a cold cap but Ben explains it’s not suitable with her treatment. Coco suggests head scarves or wigs but Maggie says she’s going to do nothing: If the cancer takes her hair, then it does. She then says she’s going to take control by shaving her head. Ryder heads back to the bait shop where Mason wonders if he was dumped, having apparently made a bet with Hunter. Ryder thinks Mason gave him bad advice but Mason says he gave him an important lesson about being immature and paranoid. Hunter adds taking advice from idiots. Mason offers Ryder a milkshake and since the alternative is helping Hunter he agrees. Hunter carries on moving things as a speedboat approaches.

Ben puts down a ground sheet as Coco reads that they should cut the hair down to the stubble. They have scissors and Ziggy appears with clippers she bought Ben for Father’s Day, saying they weren’t such a bad present after all. (Ben thinks it means she should buy him something else.) Ben and Coco both volunteer to hold Maggie’s hands during the cutting so she hands the scissors to Ziggy, who slowly removes the hair first with the scissors and then the clippers. Afterwards, they all stand around Maggie as she looks in the mirror. Coco and Ziggy both think she looks great, while Ben tells her he thought she looked beautiful before but now she does. Maggie agrees: “Screw you, cancer. I win.”

The speedboat has now docked at the wharf and two dodgy-looking men are unloading several boxes. Hunter approaches and tells them they need to move because the barge needs to dock there. The leading man tells him to take a hike but Hunter stands firm. Robbo is outside the Diner flat on the phone, apparently turning down Lance’s offer, when he sees what’s going on. A third man appears from the boat and they become increasingly forceful about Hunter leaving, with the leader pushing him. Robbo grabs a fishing rod and bucket as cover and approaches them, telling Hunter Alf needs him at the store. The lead character tells him to leave as well but Robbo thinks there isn’t fish in the crates and refuses to back down.
