Kim battles to rescue Rachel from the demented Charlie’s clutches. The Summer Bay community learns the truth about Zoe’s reappearance. Jack and Martha get more surprises than they bargained for at their engagement party.
Extended Summary
Kim rips in to Charlie, demanding to know where Rachel is. Charlie remains expressionless and insists Rachel doesn’t matter now – all they need is each other. Kim realises he must go along with freaky Charlie if he wants to see Rachel again. Charlie ushers Kim out – it’s time for a boys’ night out! The Surf Club is empty and dark when they arrive. Charlie leads Kim to the bar where he cracks open a few beers and cranks up some music. Kim tries to reason with Charlie, but he becomes defensive and will not be fooled again. Kim moves around to the side of the bar and retrieves his mobile but it’s too late…Charlie snatches it from his hand and smashes it to pieces. Charlie loses control and is distressed that Kim has lied to him again. Kim is shocked by the intensity of his outburst. Charlie is a bigger nutter than he thought! Rachel begins to stir from her groggy state and panics as she realises she is bound to a bench press in the gym – oh my god – Rachel is right next door in the gym! She tries to yell out but gives up in frustration – no one can hear her! Suddenly the music stops blaring but as Kim moves to put on another CD, he overhears a muffled yell coming from the gym. He races towards the door, with Charlie in tow, begging him to stop. Kim is shocked when he discovers Rachel bound and gagged. Kim pushes Charlie aside as he goes into the gym, knocking him to the ground. The shaken pair turn around to find Charlie collapsed on the floor his weak lung has collapsed again and goes into cardiac arrest.
Rachel and Kim pace in the waiting room of the hospital when Dr Clark emerges to let them know Charlie has survived the lung collapse. As they walk out Charlie who is handcuffed to the bed and surrounded by police spots Kim and yells out for forgiveness. Rachel and Kim turn and walk away – their ordeal is finally over!!
Martha and Jack arrive to have dinner with Sally but the house is in darkness – Sally mustn’t be home yet. Martha moves inside to switch on the lights, when the room erupts with a huge: Surprise!!!! Jack and Martha stare in amazement at their surprise engagement party! The happy couple move around, thanking their friends and family for organising the party. Macca approaches with a big hug for his sister and then turns his affections to Cassie. Cassie is convinced the light shines out of Macca and his previous violent outburst was merely a one off. Matilda doesn’t share the confidence and watches on, worried for her friend. Colleen is prattling on in fine form as she hands Martha some outdated magazines full of wedding articles. Martha is amused – wedding fever has definitely hit!
Meanwhile, Peter and Sally are quietly discussing the latest on the Zoe investigation. Peter tries to put her mind at ease and reassures her, she will be the first to know if there are any developments. The speeches get underway and everyone claps and cheers as Macca talks of his sister. Martha and Jack follow it up with the announcement they’ve decided to get married in 2 weeks time. Everyone is surprised but are over the moon they now have a wedding to help plan! At that moment, they are interrupted by the delivery of a package for Martha. Martha unwraps it to find a video tape. Convinced it’s an embarrassing account of her childhood from her brother, she slots it in to the video player. The tape is static before the sound of a ticking clock can be heard….and then the image of Peter with a noose around his neck appears on the screen. Zoe’s evil laugh overpowers the room as everyone reacts, completely horrified. Zoe is still alive and she’s coming to get them!
