Extended Summary

Lance is over the moon about appearing on national TV, but Martin less ecstatic as the documentary made Carly out to be a failure. They agree that they shouldn’t mention anything to Carly about it. Bobby returns home from Celia’s and turns the light on and starts turning over the bed, claiming to be looking for a bottle, since she thinks Carly might turn back to the alcohol after the TV show. She then proceeds to annoy Carly as much as possible. The following morning Bobby is surprised Carly isn’t seeing a sickie. Lance comes round to visit, but gets himself tied up in knots trying to not mention the programme to Carly and people saying they’d seen him on TV the previous night.

Alison tries to rile Carly in a corridor by going about the documentary. In the class Roo has a go at Bobby about having a boyfriend in Alan after spending a few months chasing her fiancé. Bobby walks out the classroom and Carly goes to comfort her.

Brett and Gordon come into Alf’s store looking for Alf. Brett leaves and gives Alf and Gordon time to talk about the resort that the Macklin’s want to build in Summer Bay.

Roo and Brett turn up at Ailsa’s shop in Brett’s car. Alison and her cohorts stand outside the shop and make smart remarks about Roo being pregnant. Brett goes to order lunch from Ailsa and tries to make small talk and business. Ailsa says she doesn’t trust Brett and that she’ll bring their lunch across. Gordon and Alf continue to talk business when Lance and Martin come to buy some booze. He shows Gordon into his office, whilst he serves Lance and Martin and they leave. Alf walks into his office to continue his conversation with Gordon whilst Lance and Martin stick their heads around the door to listen in. Roo and Brett talk about the Gordon wanting to open an office in Summer Bay and that he’s thinking of offering Frank a job there. He then reveals that it was he who bought the furniture for Frank because he felt sorry for him.

Lance and Martin are in Lance’s caravan and talk about who they should get into the Macklin’s programme at the ground level.

Alison and her friends are still loitering around outside the shop. They’re about to go when Bobby and Carly arrive in Matt’s van and have a dig about Carly getting pied and how things like that never happen in real life. Whilst she’s gabbering on, Carly and Bobby pick up some cream pies and smash them in Alison’s face.

Martin has had his suit dry-cleaned to try and is going to try and impress Gordon. Gordon is in the store next door, trying to talk Ailsa into the project as well as Alf. Martin goes to talk to Gordon, but Gordon isn’t too impressed. Gordon leaves. Alf says Ailsa could have tried to be friendlier, but Ailsa says she doesn’t trust any of the Macklin’s. Out in Brett’s car, Brett and Gordon talk about how they got on. Brett tells his father that the furniture appears to have been a good investment, whilst Gordon is impressed with Alf. He tells Brett, however, that he needs to keep an eye on Ailsa. He won’t get much past her. Alf and Ailsa argue about Ailsa not seeing eye to eye with Gordon and he storms out. Ailsa gets a phone call. Lance and Martin are talking about Gordon being a tough business man when Ailsa walks through and tells Lance he’s won £100,000 from the lottery ticket Carly bought him. Lance faints.
