Extended Summary

John rather imperiously attracts Ryder’s attention for himself and Marilyn at Salt. Nearby, a very drunk Mason and Willow approach Robbo and Lance and ask Lance in stage whispers if he’s an undercover cop. Lance jokingly implies they just blew his cover. He also claims Robbo’s the funny one, with Willow and Mason most amused at him referring to him as Ryan. Roo comes over and asks where Jasmine is, prompting Robbo to go and find her on the balcony with Irene. Jasmine claims she was just getting fresh air. Irene says her jetlag’s kicked in and heads home. Jasmine denies being upset and requests a hug. They rejoin Lance telling Mason and Willow an anecdote about him.

At the bar, Marilyn compliments Ryder on his drink. John claims to have taught him everything he knows and Ryder says John crushed his creativity. Raffy comes in and Ryder intercepts her, admitting with Mackenzie having disappeared, he’s not quite sure what he’s doing. He says since she’s underage, she can’t be near the bar without a guardian. Raffy points out John and Marilyn are there and Brody used to let her sit at the bar but Ryder doesn’t want to get it wrong on his first day. Although disappointed, Raffy agrees to go and Ryder arranges to buy her breakfast in the morning.

Bella is typing on her laptop when Irene gets home. Bella greets her enthusiastically. Irene comments on Bella still being there and offers to make her a hot chocolate. Back at Salt, Robbo checks Lance will be at the wedding and won’t get called away. Lance claims he’s got it covered and offers to make a speech. Jasmine is about to leave but Lance, who Robbo offers to crash at his, convinces her to stay for one more. The still-worse-for-wear Mason and Willow check that Robbo’s working tomorrow.

Mason gives Willow a piggybank into the gym and checks she’s sure about this before they go into the office. Back at Salt, Robbo wonders if Colby said goodbye to Jasmine. Lance suggests he got lucky. Jasmine suggests the wedding stuff caught up with him, although neither of them bother to explain to Lance. Jasmine says her goodbyes. Both Robbo and Lance think something was bothering her.

Jasmine heads downstairs to the sight of Mason piggybacking Willow back out of the gym. Mason offers to walk them both home, before he and Willow put cones on their heads. Robbo comes down to check on Jasmine who insists she’s fine and that Willow needs a glass of water, headache tablet and bed. She ushers Mason and Willow out, but looks drained.

Back at the beach house, Irene asks Bella about not going back to Colby’s. Bella says a friend told her she had it good there. She gets an update on her laptop, which she says is the news service. Jasmine and a very rowdy Willow turn up, with Willow confidentially talking about how funny Mason is. Irene gives Willow a tablet and gets Bella to take her up to bed.

Next morning, Raffy approaches Alf, John and Roo at the Diner, saying Ryder is half an hour late. Roo says he was still in bed when she left. John says Ryder didn’t let people down when he worked for him, but Alf thinks he’s earned a lie-in. Ryder appears, apologising for sleeping in, and suggests he and Raffy go for a walk.

At the beach house, Bella finds a note from Tommy in the mail, saying she’ll learn a lot from a photographer. Irene comes down and Bella says she’s got a ticket to a photography exhibition in the city. Irene asks if it’s with school and Bella says something like that. Willow comes down and Irene offers to take her to the Diner for a bacon and egg roll. Bella messages Tommy, saying she got the ticket and loves it.

Marilyn is serving Mason at the Diner as Irene arrives with Willow. Mason and Willow quietly compare notes on last night. Robbo comes in and briefly chats to the pair before asking Irene about Jasmine. Irene encourages him to talk to her, giving him two takeaway coffees, one for Jasmine. Robbo heads to the beach house, where Jasmine greets him warmly but still isn’t in the mood to talk, just asking for a lift to the bus stop so she can go to Yabbie Creek.

At the Diner, Maggie notices Irene is back. Irene thanks her for helping Bella get invested in schoolwork, saying she’s really looking to the school excursion to see the photography exhibition. Maggie looks awkward before saying there isn’t one. At the surf club, Ryder raves to Raffy about his new job and the tips. Roo overhears and Ryder assures her he hasn’t forgotten his HSC.

Robbo shows Lance around the gym. He wonders where the new rosters are and Mason and Willow tell him they’re in the office. Robbo opens the door and a bowl they set up dumps shredded paper over him. Mason and Willow double over with laughter but Robbo doesn’t and tells them to clean it up. Willow admits it was funnier last night.

Raffy chats about her homework as she plays pool. Ryder yawns and John knocks over a container of juice, trying to offer Ryder an extra $1.50 an hour to come back. Ryder refuses, telling Raffy last night was the first time he actually felt good at something…although he’s still bad at pool. Raffy convinces him to go and rest, but looks disappointed.

Irene comes home and tells Bella what Maggie said about the school excursion. Bella says Irene just assumed she was going with the school and she’s going with friends. Irene isn’t happy about her going without an adult and says she’ll either ring Colby or take her herself. Bella says she won’t go in that case. Later, she messages Tommy and says she can’t use the ticket. Tommy offers to drive her himself and says he’ll pick her up at 12.30, suggesting they exchange numbers. Bella looks uncertain.

Lance and Robbo chat outside the surf club with Lance admitting Robbo might have the right idea living there. Jasmine appears and Lance says he’ll see them both tomorrow. Robbo questions Jasmine who finally admits that meeting his parents and Lance has caused her to realise she doesn’t have any family or old friends to come to the wedding.

Bella heads down to the bus stop. She sends a text to Tommy saying she’s where they agreed and will see him soon.
