Will Jett ever be able to walk again? Raffy feels ill after secretly taking a double dose of the CBD oil.

Extended Summary

Raffy meets Ryder near the Diner. He notes how happy and relaxed she is but says it is possible to be overconfident, making a joke about the Titanic. Raffy suddenly feels a bit woozy but carries on. At school, Maggie tells the class to go in for the exam and Ryder checks they can take calculators. He looks for Raffy and finds her supporting herself against a locker. He worries she’s about to have a seizure but she says this is something different. She suggests she just needs something to eat so, despite her telling him to go to the exam, Ryder sits her down and gives her a sandwich. She looks awkward when he asks if she’s taken her medication.

Tori is running around at home getting ready and tells Mason that she had an early morning conference call to Germany to get Jett’s scans sent over. Mason is impressed; Tori says he’ll be running a department one day but Mason notes he’ll need an internship first. Meanwhile, Ryder suggests he calls Justin or Tori. Raffy gives him her phone and tells him to call Mason. He does, saying Raffy is dizzy and pale. Raffy takes the phone and says she messed up and didn’t follow the instructions. Mason rushes to the school and sends Ryder to get water, allowing Raffy to explain that she took an extra dose. Maggie wonders why they aren’t in the exam and they explain. She sends Ryder in, saying he’ll get extra time, and Mason helps Raffy home.

Jett is brought into hospital and Tori introduces herself; Jett knows she’s Raffy’s sister. John and Marilyn are already there, since they weren’t allowed in the ambulance. Jett is taken through to radiology while Tori, John and Marilyn handle the paperwork. Although surgery fixed the shrapnel wounds, Jett suffered spinal damage. John asks if he’ll walk again but Tori says it’s impossible to say. Meanwhile, Raffy and Mason arrive home. Raffy laments the revision going to waste. Mason is angry with her for going behind his back and tells her the trial is over. Raffy begs him to reconsider but he walks away.

Leah finds Marilyn near the Diner and asks how Jett is. Marilyn says she came home to get changed while John stayed with him, since they’re going to be doing shifts at the hospital for a while. She says the flight over tired him and isn’t sure if she’s exhausted or jet-lagged. At the hospital, Tori joins John and Jett and says Jett can sit up a bit, elevating his bed to slightly more than flat and taking off his collar. However, she can’t tell him how long he’ll be there. Marilyn arrives with a bag for John. Jett thanks them for bringing him home, saying it’s what he needs. He wants them to get his phone so he can check on the boys still in Afghanistan, since they’re still his men. John and Marilyn say they’re proud of him.

The class are still doing their exam but Ryder seems distracted and tries to text Raffy. Maggie stops him and offers to check on Raffy. At the Morgan house, Mason tells Raffy that Maggie has said she can take the exam another time without penalty and she’s lucky to have people looking out for her. He is still furious, saying Raffy put herself at risk. He goes to pour the oil away but Raffy snatches it off him, insisting she needs it. Mason says that she could have been taken to hospital where tests would have revealed the truth and he could have been struck off and charged. Ryder arrives in time to hear Mason calling her reckless. Mason takes the bottle back and asks Ryder to look after Raffy while he goes to work. After he’s gone, Ryder says he’s spent the exam worrying about Raffy so has earned the right to an explanation.

Leah arrives at the hospital chatting to first Tori (who she notes is now showing) and then John and Marilyn. They explain that Jett’s platoon was caught off guard and two of them didn’t make it. The hospital in Germany was full of wounded soldiers and Marilyn spoke to the mother of one of the ones who died. Later, John has got changed while Marilyn is trying to send an e-mail to the military hospital thanking them. Leah gives them coffee before joining Tori, who is in the office upset. Tori says that it’s starting to sink in what being a parent means. Leah agrees it’s their worst nightmare.

Raffy has filled Ryder in on the trial, explaining they had to keep it secret because it’s illegal and also that she’s broken Mason’s trust. Ryder agrees she’s seemed better lately. He suggests they go for a walk and she gives him a hug. They head down the beach where Raffy wonders why she hasn’t heard from John and Maz. They see Mason and Ryder takes the lead in approaching him. Mason is annoyed that Ryder knows about the trial but Ryder says it’s helping Raffy and he can help keep an eye on her.

Back at the house, Mason lays down new ground rules: The oil is kept locked up, only he has the key and can administer it, and Raffy lets him know any symptoms. Raffy gives Ryder a thank you kiss and he heads back to school. Soon after, Raffy chats to John and Marilyn at the hospital. She wonders if she should stay living with the Morgans for now. Mason joins them and says they’re happy to keep an eye on her. He and Raffy leave as Tori takes John and Marilyn in to see Jett. She says that with the swelling down the scans show damage to the spinal cord; Jett has no sensation or movement below the waist and will never walk again. Jett insists he can move and feel his foot. Tori touches his foot with her pen and he says he can feel it…but also says he can feel it when she isn’t touching it. Everyone else looks concerned while Jett remains oblivious.
