Home and Away's Mason Morgan actor helps stop woman being assaulted on the street

He's not just a lifesaver on screen.

Home and Away actor Orpheus Pledger may play a student doctor on the Aussie soap, but it's been revealed that he's a hero in real life too.

The actor, who plays Mason Morgan, has told Australia's Daily Telegraph about his actions after he noticed a suspicious-looking man stalking a woman while walking home from the gym in Sydney.

"My gut told me something was up. I was pretty frightened but the adrenaline kicked in. My initial reaction was for me to step in and to help," he said, revealing that he followed the man for several blocks after feeling uneasy about his behaviour.

"He just made a run for her. He ran 10 or 15 minutes and grabbed her full around the body and threw her to the ground," Pledger said.

"I was screaming and yelling saying, 'Stop, stop, stop', I made sure he got off her," he added.

"There was a split decision. There was a moment where I thought, 'Wow, this is actually happening', so, of course I had the choice, but the way I was brought up. I just did what I thought was right.

"I didn't think of the consequences in the moment. I just needed to do what I could to help."

The actor testified in court following the attack, with the assailant subsequently being convicted of aggravated assault with intent to rob.
