2011 Season Return

Episode 5216

It is the morning after the season finale. Gina and John wake up together in bed. John asks if Gina feels any different now that they are married. She says she didn't expect she would, but she does. She feels more secure. John says he didn't realise she felt insecure before. Gina says neither did she. There is loud clattering coming from the kitchen and they suspect Xavier is taking his broken heart out on the breakfast dishes. Much to their surprise he opens the door and with a big smile on his face, brings them breakfast on a tray. John and Gina are grateful for this gesture, but somewhat concerned that he is a little too upbeat for someone who's girlfriend was just taken oversees.

At the police station, Alf is brought into the interview room refusing anything to eat. He refuses to cooperate with Robertson or speak to him until Morag arrives to represent him. When Robertson leaves the room Charlie tells Alf that it's in Alf's best interest not to make this difficult.

In the Beach House, Will is sitting at the table also not eating his breakfast. Irene tells Will she is proud of him for having the guts to do the right thing but Will walks out before Irene has finished talking. Lily asks what is wrong with her dad and Irene explains that he feels bad for telling the cops that Alf killed Penn.

Down at the beach, Xavier is coming out of the surf. He sees Will ahead, sitting on the sand, and immediately turns to walk in the opposite direction. Will notices this. Romeo is puting flags up and asks Xavier how he is doing. Xavier says he is fine, and points out some nice looking girls making their way to the waves. Xavier suggests they go and chat to them, but Romeo declines, saying that he is in a relationship. Xavier replies that Romeo might not be single, but he is, and is planning to enjoy his newfound freedom, and makes his way over to chat to the girls.

In Summer Bay House, Marilyn has popped in to see how everyone is doing with Alf having been arrested, or at least that's her cover story. She has really come to see how Nicole is. Nicole tells Marilyn that she still hasn't told anybody about being pregnant, and she doesn't intend for anybody to find out. Marilyn says they will find out soon enough when the pregnancy starts to show. Nicole asks Marilyn what gave her the impression she was ever going to keep the baby?

Outside the Surf Club, Will makes his way up the hill towards the entrance. Just as he is about to go inside, he bumps into John Palmer who is on his way out. He stops Will from entering the club saying that it's members only. Will says nobody ever stops non-members going in but John says there's a first time for everything. Will doesn't have the energy to argue and turns around and walks off. Gina appears behind John and asks what was that all about. John says that Will has a cheek expecting anybody to nice to him after what he did. Gina says it couldn't have been easy handing over Alf to the police, knowing how everybody would treat him. John asks Gina does she really think Alf had anything to do with Penn's murder? Gina says she can't imagine it, but why would Will lie? John replies by saying that's exactly what everybody wants to know.

Down on the sand, Xavier and the two girls come out of the water laughing and playing around, and Xavier seperates from them to go and get his towel which is laying further away. Romeo approaches Xavier and asks what he is playing at. Xavier says he doesn't know what Romeo means, and there is no law against having fun. Romeo says it depends what kind of fun. Xavier reminds Romeo that he is a free agent and can have any fun he wants. Romeo tells Xavier that he is not behaving like himself. Xavier says good, because he is fed up of the "old Xavier".

Outside Summer Bay House, Nicole is hanging clothes on the line with Marilyn getting in the way, asking about the baby. She tells Nicole that having a baby is a wonderful thing and she shouldn't get rid of it without thinking about the conequences, such as she may regret it later. Nicole says that she is too young, she is single, she has no money, she is a student, and to top it off, it's Penn Graham's baby. It's a no brainer really. Marilyn says you can't be so rational about a life growing inside you, and she must have some feelings towards it. Nicole says the only feeling this baby has given her is morning sickness.

Will is walking along a road with his head hanging low and his hands in his pockets. He reaches the spot of Ken's old garage and looks at it, all boarded up and covered in grafitti. He hears Ken's voice in his head saying "remember your promise to me, son".

Outside Summer Bay House, a car pulls up.

Inside Summer Bay House, Marilyn and Nicole are in the kitchen still discussing the baby. Nicole is getting a bit fed up with Marilyn's "support". She says she told Marilyn because she thought she could trust her to be supportive, not judgemental. Marilyn says she doesn't mean to be judgemental, but she just can't understand how Nicole can be so cold about a life growing inside her and want to get rid of it. Nicole replies that of course she doesn't "want" to have an abortion, but truly believes its the best option for all concerned. She feels no love for this baby. Marilyn says it's natural she would feel like that at first, given everything that's happened, but in time her feelings will change. She makes Nicole promise to think about it a little longer and not rush into anything. Nicole agrees to think about it, but insists she won't change her mind. Marilyn says good, because she defies anybody to have a baby and not love it. As she says this, she turns round to see Morag standing in the doorway.

At the Beach House, Irene is relieved to see Will walking in through the door, as she needs him to look after Lily. Colleen has been taken ill and they are short staffed at the Diner. Will says no problem, it's not like he has anywhere else to go anyway. Irene is upset to see Will so depressed and tells him he has to stop feeling so guilty, he did the right thing. Will nods and agrees half heartedly that he did the right thing. Irene kisses him on his head and leaves. Will looks at Lily laying on the sofa watching TV. He smiles as he watches over her. He repeats to himself, with more conviction, that he did the right thing.

At Summer Bay House, Morag explains to Nicole that she is on her way to the police station but thought she better drop in and get Alf a change of clothes and some other things like a book to read. Nicole is happy to see Morag, but is slightly uncomfortable - unsure of how much Morag heard of her and Marilyn's chat. Marilyn enters the room nervously. She and Morag shake hands and Morag says she heard that Marilyn was back. Marilyn says she is sorry she rushed off like that, but it was a bit of an unexpected shock after all these years. Morag says she hasn't aged that badly has she to which Marilyn laughs a little too much. Morag smiles and leaves. Nicole comments that that was a little awkward and Marilyn replies that they have a complicated history because she used to be Morag's housekeeper. She adds that it may also be something to do with the fact they've both had children to the same man. "Oh don't worry," she adds, "at different times!"

At the police station, Morag enters the interview room and Alf asks what took her so long. She says she was delayed by a road accident on the highway but she's here now and that's all that matters. Charlie and Robertson enter. Robertson greets Morag "Battleship" with a big smile, saying it's great to see her again. He asks how Ross is. Morag says she is not here to make small talk, but rather to sort out this ridiculous wrongful arrest based on nothing but one man's hear'say, and once she's done that she will be contacting the chief of police to have a serious investigation launched into whether certain senior detectives are of sound mind to be employed in such a capacity, and will take great delight most of all in wiping that ridiculous smirk off "Spotty Swotty's" face once and for all. Robertson is gobsmacked by this. "That's right", adds Morag. "I'm not the only one who had a nickname."

There is a knock at the door, and Watson enters saying she needs to have a word with Charlie. As Charlie gets up to leave, Alf leans in and whispers to Morag "Good to have you back, sis".

At the main desk area of the station, Watson tells Charlie about the road accident up the coast. Charlie says she thought the city police were dealing with it as it is outside their district. Watson says they are, but they have a description of the victims and she thought Charlie should know - a man and a woman. The woman was wearing a white wedding dress and they were on a motorbike.

This is an interesting start. I'll be happy to see where this goes and whether it'll cross over with the actual 2011 season or not.

Shock ending. Can't wait to see what happens next :)

This is a very clever story :) I must say I'm not surprised LIam and Bianca had an accident with her wedding dress flapping around on the back of his bike  I thought that when they did that in the series, I'd never get on a big bike like that in a wedding dress...
