ljay Posted September 18, 2006 Report Share Posted September 18, 2006 Chapter 5- Part 1 The next morning at the Holden house Tony and Lucas are in the kitchen area eating their breakfast when Jack finally surfaces after his night out. Tony: Morning sleepyhead! Lucas: (smiles) How was your night? Jack: It was really good. I'm paying the price this morning though. Tony: Get some breakfast down you. Jack: I think I'll give it a miss, thanks Dad. I am going to head down to the beach and check out the surf. Lucas: I might come with you if thats alright. Jack: Yeah sure. Next door at the Hunters, Robbie and Tash are still in bed and Martha is in the kitchen having breakfast with Beth and Mattie. Beth: Did you have a good night? Martha: Yeah it was great. I have not had a night out like that in ages. Beth: Aww that's good. Mattie is in a day dream. Martha: What's up Mattie. Mattie is staring into oblivion and did not hear Martha. Beth: Two words for you. Lucas Holden! At this Mattie jumped up. Mattie: What about him. (Beth and Martha smile) Martha: Fancy going for a walk and having a chat. Mattie: (reluctantly) OK. Back at the beack Jack and Lucas are sitting down having a chat. Jack: What's up mate. Lucas: How do you mean? Jack: You obviously have something on your mind. Lucas: Is it really that obvious? Jack: (laughs) Yes! So are you gonna spill or am i going to have to guess. Lucas: Its Mattie. Jack: I thought as much. What about her. Lucas: Well i really like her. Jack: And the problem is? Lucas: Well... how am i supposed to tell her. Jack: Well you go up to her and say "Oi Mattie I really like you!" Jack breaks into hysterics. Lucas: Can you not be serious for once. This is not some sort of joke. Jack: OK I'm sorry. He pulls Lucas back down as he was about to leave. Jack: You just gotta take the bull by the horns and tell her how you feel. All you can do is be honest with her and if that does not win her over than i do not know as much about chicks as i thought!! Lucas and Jack smile. Jack: Anyways enough chatting about girls. Let's hit some waves. Meanwhile Martha and Mattie are walking along the beach. Martha: So Lucas Holden eh? Mattie: (smiles). Yep Martha: He is kind of cute! Have you said anything to him? Mattie: I would not know what to say or where to start. Martha: I know what you mean. Mattie: (shocked) Oh yeah. Martha: Don't look so shocked. I may be a few years older than you but i find it just as hard to tell a guy how i feel. Let's just say you are not the only one to have succumbed to the Holden charm. Mattie: Is that right? They continue walking along the beach when they notice Jack and Lucas leaving the surf. Jack: Luc i think we have ourselves a couple of stalkers. Martha: Shut up Jack! Mattie: Yeah get a life. Lucas smiles at Mattie Lucas: Do you wanna grab a juice or something? Mattie: Yeah sure. Lucas: See you later and thanks! Jack: (smiles) No worries, i hope it works. Martha: Hope what works? Jack: Oh nothing. So how you been? Martha: (laughs) You mean since last night? Jack: Yeah. Martha: Fine. There is an awkward silence. Jack: So what were you doing with Mattie before? Martha: Just giving her a bit of advice. Jack: It doesn't have anything to do with Lucas does it by any chance? Martha: Yeah. How do you know? Jack: Cos i just had the same chat to him about Mattie. Martha: And what did you tell him? Jack: Oh just the usual, to be honest and grab the bull by the horns. Martha: "Grab the bull by the horns", i must remember that one. Jack: You found someone? Martha: Might have. Jack: (trying not to look too disappointed) Well good on ya! Little did he know that Martha was talking about him.
