ljay Posted September 15, 2006 Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 Chapter2 Later that evening everyone is gathering at the Hunters for the BBQ Tony and Lucas have just arrived Beth: Hi, I'm glad to see you made it. Tony: We would not have missed it for the world, would we Luc? Lucas: (shyly) No. Beth: Is Jack not coming? Tony: He might be along later, he's not feeling too great. Beth: Awww thats a shame. Beth signals for Alf to come over Beth: Alf you've not met the Holden's yet have you? Alf: No i don't believe i have. I'm Alf Stewart, pleased to meet you. Tony: Likewise, I'm Tony and this is my son Luc. Lucas: Hi. Alf: Have you met my Grandson Ric? He'd be about the same age as you. Lucas: Um.. No i haven't. Alf: I am sure you will see him before the night is out. Lucas smiles awkwardly. Mattie and Cassie come up to Lucas and literally drag him away from the old folks Mattie: Hi i'm mattie and this is my best friend Cassie. We thought you might be in need of rescuing. Lucas: (laughs) Yeah thanks. Cassie: No worries. Lets say Mr Stewart is renown for his gas bagging. He could talk for Australia! Mattie: (laughs) and no-one should be subjected to that! In the backgrouond Beth is introducing Tony to the 'older' locals such as Coleen, Irene, Barry, Sally. Mattie, Cassie and Lucas move into the garden where Ric, Martha, Robbie and Tash are standing. Mattie: Hey guys this is Lucas, he's living next door. Everyone: Hi. Mattie: I suppose i will introduce to everyone. This is my brother Robbie, his girlfriend Tasha, Cassie's boyfriend Ric and his cousin Martha! Cassie: (laughs) You got that? Lucas: (smiles) Just about. Robbie: So where's Jack hiding? Lucas: Oh he's not hiding, he's just resting at home. His shoulders a bit sore. Robbie: Is he coming along later? Lucas: I doubt it very much. At this response Martha's face did drop a little with disappointment. A couple of hours had passed and Jack had just turned up. He was overwhelmed by all these faces he did not recognise. Luckily for him Robbie had spotted him. Robbie: Jack over here mate! Jack: Hey hows it going? Robbie: Not bad. We didn't think you were coming. Jack: I wasn't planning on but i thought it would be rude if i didn't make a brief appearance. Tash, Martha how are you? Tash: Great. Martha: (smiles) Good thanks. Martha had definetely perked up since Jack's arrival Robbie: So how's the shoulder? Jack: It's alright, nothing a few painkillers won't fix. Martha: What happened, only it did not look pretty this afternoon. Jack: (smiles) Thanks! I got shot a couple of weeks ago. Tash: Sorry did you just say you got shot. Jack: Yep. It's part and parcel of the job i suppose. Robbie: And what job might that be? Jack: (laughs) Don't worry Rob, its nothing dodgy, i'm a cop. Martha's mouth drppoed on hearing this Jack: Are you OK Martha? Martha: Yeah I'm fine. Why wouldn't i be? Jack: No reason. I'll be back in a minute, i'm just going to grab a drink. Robbie: I'll come with you. Robbie and Jack are inside getting drinks while Tash and Martha are outside Tash: You always did say you liked a man in uniform!! Martha: Tash you best not go saying anything to anyone! I mean it! Tash: (smiles) Would i ever? In the kitchen Jack: So what's the story with Martha? Robbie: (confused) Story? How do you mean? Jack: I dunno... is she seeing anyone. Robbie: (laughs) No. Martha is very much single. Some would say she is high maintenance. Jack: (smiles) Is that so. Jack and Robbie headed back outside to the girls. Robbie leans into Tash and whispers that Jack likes Martha Tash: (smiles) So Jack have you got a girlfriend? Martha stares at Tash knowing fine well what she is trying to do and does not look one bit comfortable about the conversation. Jack: Not at the moment. Tash: Are you looking? Jack: Might be. Tash: Seen anyone you like? Jack: (laughs) Might have. Robbie: Tash would you leave the guy alone. Tash: Sorry. Jack: (laughs) No worries. Anyways i best head off and mingle with the others. See you around. Robbie: Tactile was never your strong point was it babe? Tash: No but you still love me right? Robbie: (smiles) Just a little. Tash and Martha are sitting in the diner. Tash: You and Jack seem to be getting on really well. Martha: (smiles) Yeah he's a great guy. For some strange reason everytime i see him or hear his name i get goose pimples. How sad is that!! Tash: It's not sad at all. In fact its quite sweet. Have you told him how you feel. Martha: No and i'm not going to. Tash: Why not? Martha: I don't think he feels the same way. Tash: Are you kidding me. I'm pretty sure he is interested in you. Martha: Has Rob said something to you? Tash: Uh...no. Martha: (giving her the evil eye) Tash!! Tash: Hey Rob, Jack. Jack: Hey. Rob: (kisses Tash) hello. Martha: Get a room! Jack: So what are you girls up to tonight? Only me and Rob were thinking of hitting the town and testing out our pulling power. Robbie: You mean you were thinking about testing YOUR pulling power. I'm spoken for mate. Jack: So you up for it? Martha: Sounds like fun. Count me in. Tash: Do i have a choice? Robbie: (smiles) Not really. Jack: Great well come by my place and we will have a few drinks before we leave. I can't stop i have a few things to do but i will see you later. Tash: We best get a wriggle on ourselves Mac and try and find you a dress for tonight. Martha: (with a look of horror on her face) A dress!! Tash: If you want to be the only focus of Jack's attention tonight you need to make an effort. Robbie: I guess that's my cue to leave. I will call you later. A few hours had gone by and Tash and Martha had finally agreed on a dress for her to wear. It was a strapless black dress that just fell to knee level. Martha: Tash are you sure this looks alright (she said while walking up the steps to Jack's house) Tash: You look beautiful. No matter what Tash said Martha still felt self-conscious. Tash knocked on the door, for Jack to answer.Jack just stood there blown away by Martha's beauty Jack: Wow!!! You look....stunning. Martha: (blushes) Thanks. (Just the reassurance she needed) Jack: You look great too Tash. Tash: (jokily) Liar! At least some of us made an effort she said referring to Jack who was standing there in his vest and boardies. Martha walked past Jack. He was truly taken back by her. He had always had an eye on her since he arrived in town and she was going to be the only one he had her eye on tonight. Jack: Girls you can help yourselves to drinks in the kitchen. I am just going to get ready. I can't have you showing me up! Tash and Martha laughed while preparing drinks for the boys. Martha: I am just going to bring this in to Jack. Martha knocks on Jack's door Jack: It's open. Martha: Oh sorry, i didn't realise you were still getting changed. Jack: Its OK, almost done. So what do you reckon? Martha: Sorry (she saidwhile staring at Jack) Jack: Will i pass? Martha: Just about! (she smiles while walking back into the lounge). Robbie: Come on people lets go!
