  1. Oh the weather outside is frightful But the fire is so delightful And since we've no place to go Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! It doesn't show signs of stopping And I've bought some corn for popping The lights are turned way down low Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! I've never seen it snow so much here [south of England]. There was at least an inch of it when we woke up, it thawed and now its snowing again, really big flakes Bitterly cold too. Why doesn't it snow at Christmas instead?
  2. Great fic, the poor Martha. I loved the way you quoted that poem. It reminds me of that other well known poem about death, the one they read out in Four Weddings and a Funeral. Something about 'stop all the clocks, shut out the sun' or something.
  3. As I sneakily watched the Fiver episode today as I wanted to know what happened, I must say what excellent acting from Tony when he found poor Jack. Exactly as a father would/should react and the right time for over-acting Too many times characters in the past have under-acted in such a situation and it is ridiculous.
  4. So, if the pyramid still exists, you could write another story with another character going to a parallel universe, couldn't you Ranger? :D 'He stepped into the quantum leap... and vanished!' I used to love that series.
  5. Bernard Curry is currently in Out of the Blue, unfortunately he only came into the series in the last few weeks. So I'm glad to see he got another job after OOTB finished.... or did it?
  6. Sorry I haven't been replying. I've been Busy With My Projects [writing ones, don't worry, nothing sinister ]. Anyway, just to say: this fic is brilliant Well done
  7. And the bit about Hayley being blonde Sorry, I can't edit my posts so I just have to keep replying
  8. Do continue I love the way you said Matilda was 'still dressed in her bed clothes.' It sounds so quaint
  9. Five years old! I can't believe I only found this site 1 year ago. Congratulations to BTTB!
  10. Laurzy, this is so sweet. It brought tears to my eyes. Either you have a baby or good knowledge of looking after one to write this
  11. Yay! Its been raining all day! It is a tropical 8C ! I never thought I'd be so happy to see the rain, mild weather and cloud. It has been below zero for days before today, the frost on the ground never melted, so temperatures above freezing are blissful. I went outside just now without a coat and in my slippers with no socks....! And all the muck and melted ice, grit, road salt etc. has been washed away by the rain
  12. num, num, num. What a nice cage I live in ha ha ha!

  13. Hang on a minute. So Ric's grandmother was called Viv, and so was that woman he had an affair with? An unfortunate coincidence
  14. Its been -4C here lately- and I live in the South of England! God knows what its like in the North...
  15. That is a brilliant post Skykat. I have posted on many forums in the last few years and I can honestly say that BTTB is one of the nicest and friendliest. Some forums are really bitchy and pick on you if you don't say the 'right thing', or bully newbies, or simply ignore you etc. But I have not experienced any of that here. When I joined BTTB I was in a very upset and emotional state and did not expect to stay, and certainly did not expect the warm welcome I received [sorry, I can't remember who the welcomers were now]. I would hate it if BTTB became a bitchy, bullying forum so Skykat's words are very wise and timely and I hope everyone abides by them. I'm not meaning to boss people about, I am just writing from the heart.
  16. Jolly good, Ranger! I know what you mean about writing things of a certain length. I said that to another poster here when he said he wished one of my stories was longer: they just write themselves as long as they are, and there isn't much I can do about it
  17. This is really good Red Ranger. Have you read that book by Stephen Fry, 'Making History'? Its about an alternative universe surrounding world war 2 i.e. what would have happened if Hitler had not got to power, but instead, a charismatic, handsome bloke who everyone loved had got to power instead? It is a comedy drama, so not as heavy as it sounds
  18. Why aren't there any Home and Away characters in the avatar gallery anymore?
  19. Just bumping this up for the librarians. Thanks to the last few people who posted, it is nice to know so many have enjoyed my story
  20. I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to post on this thread. Usually I send a PM to each of my supporters but there are just too many to do that this time I have really enjoyed writing this story, it has been a lovely distraction for me as well as my readers over the last few weeks. I wish I'd started posting it after Christmas in the January chill. But I seriously thought people would just say 'what the heck's this about, what is this woman thinking writing a story like this?' I may well write another 'historical romance/ comedy' in future, depending on the time/ inspiration available
  21. Dear ladies and gentlemen. I must apologise for disappointing you with the approaching conclusion of my work. The way I write is that I write the whole story when I am struck by inspiration, then post it bit by bit like a serial. So it is as long as it is, I can't lengthen or shorten it. I hope that makes sense.
  22. Perhaps I should mention at this point there are only two chapters left of this, because I feel like the Pride and Prejudice plot has nearly finished Skykat I'd love to discuss with you sometime how I was inspired to write this story, as you said you like to know that sort of thing . It would make a nice break from talking about toddler routines and pastoral care of construction students...!
  23. Yes, who would have thought Miles had such a dark side? Who knows who will sweep who off their feet in future chapters? [or should that be whom, I never know ]
  24. Zap! Pow! Bam! Miranda the Magenta Ranger morphs in to say 'Go go Power Rangers!' What a perfect antidote this story is to 19th century comedy/drama
