Eden confides in John. David refuses to give up. Mali makes a shocking discovery.
Extended Summary
John runs into Tane and Mali outside the surf club, giving them an elaborate French greeting which he claims is because he’s advanced from “Bonjour”. Tane and Mali discuss Tane’s plans for the bucks night, which a passing Abigail insists won’t be as good as the hen night that she has planned. John reminisces about how in his navy days they tied the groom to a telephone pole and none of them could remember where it was, but warns Tane not to do that to Cash.
On the balcony at Salt, Abigail tells Cash and Eden it’s a good job they ordered the big breakfast to line Eden’s stomach. She insists she’s tailored the night to suit Eden’s rock chick personality. Cash predicts Tane will just have a quiet night in watching the footy. Eden says to put in his wedding vows not to be smug, before heading off to write hers. Tane appears and tells Cash it’s going to be a night to remember…or forget.
Mackenzie interrupts Levi who was attempting to make her breakfast in bed. Mackenzie thinks the pregnancy’s down to manifesting while Levi credits science. He regrets having to go to the bucks night while Mackenzie says Abigail has texted her four different locations. They decide not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until after the wedding. Mali interrupts them and they say they were just talking about the party. Meanwhile, Eden is working on her vows at the Parata house and crosses out her latest attempt. She goes to Cash’s bag and takes out a piece of paper marked “Vows”. As she reads it, she looks rather perturbed.
At the Diner, Justin thanks Marilyn for covering for Leah while she takes Theo suit shopping and to book the surprise holiday. David comes in and Justin asks how he is. He isn’t convinced when David says he’s fine. Meanwhile, Tane shows Cash a leaflet for where he’s taking them: A private room at a gentleman’s club and whiskey bar. He notes it can cost $300 a shot. Abigail congratulates them, saying she was expecting them to go bowling in Yabbie Creek. She excitedly says she’s planned a karaoke bus, a sip’n’dip, a burlesque party, dinner and dancing at a drag club, with a mobile cocktail bar and games, including underpants with Cash’s face on them as a prize. She says she’s kidding…kind of.
Mali takes some stuff out to the bin and manages to spill several things out of the full bin. Retrieving them, he finds the pregnancy test. Inside, Levi is commenting to Mackenzie that normally he’d like to go to a whiskey bar. Mali comes in and is thrown to see Levi there, saying he thought he might be called into work. Mackenzie realises he wants Levi to go. After Levi obliges, Mali comments that he found something in the bin and either he’s going to congratulate Mack or he’s going to have a life-changing talk with Abby. Mackenzie confirms the pregnancy test is hers. Mali hugs her and says she’ll make a great mum.
Outside the surf club, John is using the app to find out how to say “I’m sorry, I don’t believe in tipping” in French. Cash and Eden meet up nearby; Cash warns her about what Abigail has planned and says Tane wasn’t as chilled as he expected. Eden isn’t really listening and goes to speak to John. She tells him she read Cash’s vows and they’re really really bad.
At the Diner, David tells Justin about having to tell his daughters that they’ll never find out what happened to their mother. He notes that he’s always told his officers that the rules are there to protect them and the public but at the moment they’re protecting the person that killed his wife. Justin comments that his choices are sticking to the rules and letting the person get away with it or breaking them and getting justice.
John tells Eden that this is why he told her not to snoop. Eden shows him a photo of the vows: “E is for Eternity. D is for Diamond. E is for Eternity (again). N is for Never to be parted. For is for Forever.” Eden calls it the sort of poem you write for your teacher in primary school. She wants John to tell Cash he can’t say them. John says Eden will have to be honest with him or she’ll be listening to that on her wedding day.
At the Parata house, Tane is on the phone confirmng the private room. He reminds Cash about the bucks party Nikau threw him where Felicity set Cash up with Eden. Tane leaves the room as Eden arrives and tries to broach the subject of vows. Cash says they’re spending too much time worrying about what other people want: They don’t want Tane and Abigail’s planned parties and need to take back control.
Mali is spreading his congratulations to Levi. Levi wonders why they needed him out of the house and Mackenzie points out he thought the test was Abigail’s. They stress to Mali that it’s still secret. After he’s gone, they comment on it feeling real now they’ve told someone. Meanwhile, Cash and Eden have summoned Tane and Abigail. Cash says he doesn’t want his friends spending a lot of money in a bar a long way away and Eden says she doesn’t want a party bus and a list of boozy activities. They both want something low-key. Tane and Abigail agree to cancel everything and get refunds. Cash and Eden decide to go out for champagne and retreat to the bedroom, noting it went well. Tane and Abigail decide they need to come up with a Plan B.
David arrives at the station out of uniform, where an officer greets him. He takes a folder and starts packing everything from the board into it, wiping the writing away. Meanwhile, Cash and Eden are walking along the road when Tane pulls up next to them and insists they come with him, ushering them into the car.
At Salt, Mackenzie and Levi are getting drinks together. They debate seeing everyone at the party, noting they will have to lie about being pregnant and Levi’s sisters already know about the implantation. Whilst Mackenzie thinks it’s odd Abigail not knowing and Levi thinks he couldn’t tell her without Eden, they eventually conclude they should stick to the original plan.
Tane takes Cash and Eden to the farm house where Abigail and Mali have set up a number of staffed bars. Cash gets served some whiskey but checks he doesn’t have to give a speech, saying the vows were enough for one lifetime. Eden looks very awkward.
