Extended Summary

A crowd are lined up outside the surf club. Inside, which has been done up as the reception area of a formal event, Justin is fretting a bit. He greets Theo and Lacey when they arrive and are photographed, sending them upstairs. Dana arrives and is greeted by Sonny, with them being photographed together. Justin checks his messages to Remi, which still haven’t been replied to. He checks with Avalon, who is the latest being photographed, then puts Sonny in charge of the guest list. Sonny decides to join Dana and the free champagne upstairs instead.

Outside, Justin calls Remi, who has just arrived back at the Lyrik house. Remi grumbles about everyone calling him and says he’ll be there when he’s had a shower, then turns the phone off. The crowd respond enthusiastically as Kirby arrives with Eden in tow. Theo, Lacey, Avalon, Dana and Sonny wave from the balcony. Justin explains to Kirby that Avalon gave her a shout-out on her socials.

Inside, Kirby greets and poses for photos with the crowds. Justin tells her and Eden that he’ll see them upstairs, pausing to check his phone. Up in Salt, Kirby is greeted by everyone and gets a hug from Mackenzie and a photo with Avalon, who tells her a group by the bar flew in from Melbourne and have signed big musicians. She notices Remi isn’t there. Bree says she hasn’t seen him yet, then hastily adds that he’s on his way. Justin assures her that he’ll fix it, then quietly tells Sonny to go and get Remi.

On the balcony, Bree, Eden and Dana wonder where Remi is. Bree is especially worried given he said he was on his way. Dana and Eden suggest there might be a problem with the album and he hasn’t told anyone because he doesn’t want to worry Kirby. Meanwhile, Sonny arrives at the house and finds Remi passed out on his bed with the empty drug sachet next to him. He tries to rouse him and doesn’t seem reassured when Remi hands him the USB of the album.

Justin announces Kirby and her new song The Ninth Circle. Kirby says it’s a tribute to everyone who’s supported her this far. Leah arrives as she starts performing. Everyone is enjoying the song but Justin is starting to worry. Meanwhile, Sonny has dumped Remi in the bath and turns the water on despite his objections, rejecting a call from Justin.

Mackenzie hands out drinks and Avalon chats to the talent scouts as Kirby continues her performance. Justin goes to the top of the stairs anxiously. Leah finds him downstairs and he tells her Sonny isn’t answering his calls now. He says that he thought it was too soon to get the album done but Remi insisted. Leah assures him that everyone will remember Kirby’s performance and that’s down to him.

Kirby heads around Salt, thanking people. Theo gives her a hug before going to ask Lacey to dance. Eden, Mackenzie and Avalon all give Kirby their congratulations. Kirby is confused to learn that the album isn’t available to download and worries people will forget about her. Remi and Sonny arrive with the USB ready to upload to the website. Justin, Eden and Bree wonder what happened. Sonny says the hard drive failed and Remi had to download it again.

Later, Kirby gives a speech, telling people how to download the album. She thanks Justin for all his encouragement and his faith in her, and her former band mates from Lyrik. She calls Eden the best friend ever, says Theo taught her to love again and write from the heart, and thanks Remi for everything he did to make it happens. Lacey is somewhat thrown to realise Kirby is Theo’s ex-girlfriend and ex-song writing partner, saying they should go home. Bree comments on Remi drinking water but he shrugs it off.

Theo and Lacey arrive back at the Diner flat. Theo tries to explain away keeping quiet but Lacey silences him with a kiss, saying she had a good time and realises how lucky she is. She suggests they write a song about what they’ve been through to be together and they head to the bedroom to “brainstorm”. Back at Salt, Remi is on the balcony looking somewhat disorientated as Mackenzie congratulates him. He joins Avalon at the bar and she realises he’s coming down. He asks for something to get him through tonight and she hands him another sachet of drugs. As he wanders off, he hears Bree chiding Sonny for the unconvincing hard drive story. Sonny says it’s not the place to tell her the truth and he’ll meet her in the morning.

Next morning, Bree is lying awake next to Remi. She slips out of bed, grabs her clothes and leaves. Remi’s eyes open as the front door is heard. Bree meets with Sonny on the beach where he notes he and Remi have been friends for years and Remi has always been the one to make good choices. Before he can finish, Remi arrives and tells Sonny not to say anything. Sonny suggests Remi tell her so he doesn’t have to but Remi shoves him to the ground. Everyone looks awkward.
