Extended Summary

Mackenzie and Levi are walking towards the surf club. Mackenzie says she’s going to get her work done quickly so they can get home and notes she’s in the middle of her cycle. Levi realises she took one of the ovulation tests. Mackenzie says she was just confirming what she already knew and tells him to have a big breakfast because he’ll need his strength later.

Kirby arrives back at the Lyrik house and finds Remi asleep in the back garden. She says she’s been waiting for him outside the studio and he should have been there two and a half hours ago: She thought he’d been in an accident. Remi says he must have passed out. Kirby thought he went to bed at the same time she did and he admits Avalon wanted to party. He says he’ll have a shower and join her but she replies that if he can’t be bothered to turn up, neither can she.

Marilyn greets Harper and Archie at the Diner. She says they’re meeting Tane at the airport later; he had a few things to do in the city and stayed there overnight. Irene suggests she need a strong coffee and sits her down, asking if she knows what she’s doing. Harper says Tane wants to go to a robot cafe and she’d rather go to a temple in Tokyo that blesses marriages. That wasn’t what Irene meant. Marilyn drops by the table to call the trip magical.

Mackenzie and Levi are on the balcony at Salt. Mackenzie says she’s nearly done while Levi protests he’s only just ordered a coffee. Mackenzie says clock’s ticking. Levi suggests she’s putting too much pressure on them while Mackenzie half-seriously suggests a liaison in the store room. Levi suddenly announces he has to go to work.

Avalon turns up at Remi’s place, noting he looks like death. Remi says they were meant to be meeting tonight. Avalon says she rang the studio and learned he and Kirby weren’t there. Remi says he needs to sleep. Avalon says she gave him something to help that. Remi says she can have it back, holding out the sachet, but hastily stuffs it in his pocket when Bree turns up. Bree and Avalon are introduced and Bree says she loved her first album. She apologises for missing the gig and is on her way to work now. She suggests Remi get some rest but Avalon shrugs it off. Bree heads to the hospital and bumps into Levi in the lift. He admits he’s using it as a safe haven.

At the surf club, Mackenzie texts Levi saying to text when he’s on his way home. Harper appears from the gym with Archie. She says she had to pick up some things for the office from Tane and worries about taking Archie on the flight. Mackenzie comments on Harper and Tane being lucky enough to get Archie after one night and says she’s living the dream. Harper retorts that Mackenzie doesn’t know what she dreams about and her life is far from perfect.

Mackenzie follows Harper outside and Harper says she wouldn’t give up Archie for anything but this isn’t how she planned to become a mother. Mackenzie explains about how she and Levi are trying for a baby. Harper says Mackenzie won’t have a reason to worry about telling Levi when the test comes back positive.

Bree gets Levi a coffee and wonders what’s on his mind. Levi just says it’s something most men wouldn’t complain about. He finds a note on his desk saying one of his nurses has had to leave immediately because of a family emergency in Queensland. Bree says he won’t be short of applicants since the nurses like him. Outside the Lyrik house, Avalon tells Remi that she isn’t sure about Ready For You and wants to tinker with it. Kirby arrives and comments on Remi being too tired to work on her album but working with Avalon. She assures Avalon it’s Remi she’s angry with, not her. Avalon realises she’s hurt.

Harper arrives back at the Diner. Irene asks if she’s said goodbye to Dana. Harper says Dana’s with Sonny, but Irene thinks she wouldn’t have minded since it’s her last chance for cuddles with Archie for a while. Harper gets an e-mail from the hotel asking about check-ins: It’s addressed to Mr and Mrs Parata. Marilyn notes they expected to be married when they booked. Harper gets a call from Tane but turns the phone off and wonders if the trip is a mistake.

Mackenzie turns up in Levi’s office. He apologises for not responding to her messages. Mackenzie says she doesn’t want to be that person. Levi says she says one thing and then does another. Mackenzie says she doesn’t want to lose sight of how lucky she is to have him…but then ends up in his lap, kissing him passionately, despite his protests. Bree walks in; Levi is mortified and Mackenzie winces.

Harper and Irene go for a walk in the park. Harper wonders how she thought the trip would change anything. She admits she doesn’t want to be Tane’s travelling companion but to be with him. Irene asks how she’ll manage if it doesn’t work out. Harper decides she can’t go.

Mackenzie tries to downplay what happened but Levi thinks their relationship has become all about getting pregnant and tells her to leave. He goes over to Bree and apologises; she’s happy to forget about it. Levi explains they’re trying for a baby but Mackenzie has become obsessed with ovulation kits…then realises that’s too much information.

Remi bangs on Kirby’s door and tells her they need to get moving: He’s recording with her tonight, not Avalon, and assures her they have as many sessions as they need. Kirby is pleased that he chose her over Avalon and they head off. Meanwhile, Marilyn is shocked when Irene and Harper arrive back at the Diner, saying Harper should be on her way. Harper takes a video call from Tane in the kitchen while Irene looks after Archie. Tane is at the airport and wonders where she is. Harper says she’s not coming: She doesn’t want a platonic holiday or to be platonic at all. Tane is frustrated. Harper say they’ll talk when he gets back but Tane says to forget it and hangs up. Later, Harper complains to Irene, who points out Tane was right there at the gate but also tells her she did the right thing. Harper says they’ll talk about it when he gets home.

Bree is giving instructions to a nurse. Levi appears and shows her the job ad. Bree says it’s good but he could have left it to the admin team and suspects he’s avoiding something. Levi says he’s not complaining about having to sleep with Mackenzie but she wants everything now. He says she lies to him, agreeing to something and then doing something else, and he’s worried about where it’s going.
