Extended Summary

Tane is standing on the beach, his feet in the water. Harper is drying herself off nearby. After he initially doesn’t respond to her, she asks how Perri is. Tane says they had a meeting with Jane; she hasn’t been able to find a witness to back Perri up and said it would take a miracle to keep him out of jail. Outside the surf club, Kirby is fretting. Theo comes along and Kirby starts flattering him until he asks what she wants. She asks him to take the boards down to the beach while she finds Mali, and with a bit of convincing he agrees. Nearby, Levi comes across Mali and asks what he’s doing. Kirby appears and asks the same question. Mali says he was talking to Levi. Kirby drags him away.

Bree is berating Remi, saying he promised to let her deal with it herself and then went behind her back, accusing him of just telling her what she wants to hear. Remi says he agreed to let her handle things herself but she hasn’t actually done anything. Bree tells him to get out. Meanwhile, Theo has laid the boards down on the beach. Mali and Kirby join him and Theo decides to stay and watch the shoot. Kirby goes to meet the photographer, Vanessa, and her team. Theo realises Mali is having trouble and recalls how he froze at Lyrik’s launch but suggests if he trusts Kirby and believes in the business, he should just follow her lead.

Perri is lying on his bed in his room while Tane can be heard signing for something. He brings Perri a black bag which Perri correctly guesses contains his father’s ashes. Tane offers to talk about what he wants to do with them but Perri asks to be alone. At Salt, Remi is briefly stopped by Levi, who asks about Eden. Remi awkwardly replies that he stayed at Bree’s so hasn’t seen her. He approaches Xander and Dana at the bar and tells them Bree overheard them and knows Xander was keeping an eye on her. They note she can’t stay on leave forever. Levi joins them and asks if he can help.

Bree is back to obsessively scrubbing the sink. Levi arrives and says he was just checking in. Bree is sceptical since he’s never been there before and wonders if Remi sent him. Levi says he didn’t but he is worried about her. Bree insists she’s fine. Levi points out that the sink’s clean and asks if she’d just walk away if Remi wasn’t himself.

Down on the beach, Vanessa is snapping photos. Kirby is a natural but Mali is clearly awkward. Vanessa tries to get him to loosen up and her assistant calls him a statue. Vanessa suggests he pretends to teach Kirby to surf, and he lies down on the board. Vanessa points out they can’t see the uniform and Kirby suggests he stand up. After a short break, Kirby hits Mali with her towel and they start having fun, playfully hitting each other until Kirby throws her water bottle in his face, with Vanessa snapping away.

Levi says he won’t report anything Bree says to him. Bree doesn’t want the hospital involved, saying that doctors who admit they can’t cope get a reputation and she doesn’t want that following her around. Levi asks what she’s going to do otherwise and Bree hesitantly says that she is working through it. Levi says it’s not something you can self-manage. At Salt, Remi worries to Xander and Dana about telling Levi. Bree turns up and asks Xander and Dana to stay, sitting with them. She says that she spoke with Levi and has decided to have a mental health assessment. Dana double-checks that she’s not angry with them.

Harper and Tane are walking through a park area. Tane is worried about Perri. Harper asks how he felt before court. Tane recalls how Harper tried to talk to him then, and he pushed away her and everyone else that cared about him. Tane heads home and goes to Perri’s room. He asks him if this is really how he wants to spend what could be his last day of freedom, leaving him alone to think about it.

Remi and Bree are relaxing at the Lyrik house, with Bree acknowledging Remi had her back. Kirby comes home and offers them free Manta Ray Boards merchandise. Bree is hoping for board wax and gets thrown a sweatshirt instead. Kirby tells them about the shoot before heading off for a shower. Bree notes she has to work out where to get the assessment done. At the farm house, Levi is finishing a phone call as Mali arrives home. Levi notes he looks happier than he did earlier. Mali explains about the photo shoot and how it ended up being fun. Levi gets a text from Remi thanking him.

Near the surf club, Tane worries to Harper that he’s made things harder for Perri. Theo approaches and asks how Perri’s feeling about tomorrow, saying he tried texting him. Perri appears and Theo says to text him if he needs anything, before leaving them to it. Perri tells Tane he wants to finish what he started. With Tane and Harper waiting on the beach, Perri walks out to sea and pours the ashes into the water.

That evening, Xander and Dana are on the balcony at Salt. Xander notes Dana hasn’t spoken in five minutes, which must be a record. Dana hopes that Bree does get help. Harper arrives and Xander heads back to work. Harper tells Dana what Jane said about needing a miracle. At the Parata house, Perri is heading out the door with a bag. Tane appears and asks what’s going on. Perri says he can’t do this and leaves. Tane finds a note simply saying “I’m Sorry”.
