Extended Summary

Mackenzie and Xander are preparing to go for a surf and talk about how long it’s been since they did this and how Felicity would want them to get on with things. Mackenzie asks about Tane and Harper, saying she didn’t know they were a thing. Xander points out it must have happened at least once but says they’re not a thing. He admits he knew about the pregnancy before Tane and offers to step up at work with Felicity gone.

At the Newman house, Cash is packing his things into boxes and arranging to meet the real estate agent to break the lease before going to see the solicitor. Gary tries to get him to think again. Cash pauses on coming across a photo of himself and Eden, then packs it away. He tells Gary that if he saw her she’d try and talk him out of going, and he can’t stay there.

At the garage, Justin is on the phone to someone called Claudia, apologising. Leah has been collecting the books. Justin tells her that Theo was meant to service both Claudia’s car and Tane’s yesterday and didn’t. Theo turns up and Justin has a go at him, saying he expects him to do a job when he asks him to. Leah quietly suggests he was harsh and should have let Theo explain.

At the farm house, Tane pauses by the fridge to look at the ultrasound photo and Perri points out the milk is supposed to go inside. Perri is going to be picking up Tane’s car from the garage later. Tane offers to give him a lift in Mali’s van but Perri says he’ll wait until Theo calls and then take the bus. Meanwhile, Justin convinces Theo to take a breather from work and asks the story about what happened yesterday. Theo says Perri was there and they talked. Justin asks if Perri’s in trouble. Theo says he just needed someone to talk to. Justin says Theo still dropped the ball but now he knows why.

Gary and Cash are approaching the surf club. Gary tries to get Cash to slow down. Cash points out Gary wanted him to stay in town. Alf appears and welcomes Gary back to town. He says Felicity was one of a kind and she’ll be missed. Cash heads inside and Alf offers Gary a cuppa. Up in Salt, Mackenzie and Xander are sorting out the rosters. Cash comes up and says he’s spoken to Felicity’s solicitor: She didn’t make a will, so as her next of kin he’s inherited her assets, making him Mackenzie’s new business partner.

Justin and Theo watch as a customer drives off. Theo wonders if she’ll go somewhere else next time but Justin doesn’t think it’ll matter if she does. Perri turn up to collect Tane’s car. He asks Theo about the caravan park, thinking Tane will want him to move out now he’s having a baby. Justin sends Theo off to lunch since they’re back on track and Perri gives him a lift back to town.

Mackenzie asks Cash how involved he is expecting to be. Cash says he wants to run it with her like Felicity did, since it means a lot to her. He asks Mackenzie to talk him through it and, despite her trying to put him off, asks to see the books. Tane comes in to collect a takeaway and briefly chats to Cash. Xander apologises for knowing about the baby but Tane is fine. He’s worried about Perri though. Mackenzie suggests he might be concerned about the baby, noting she didn’t know where she fit in when her dad got a new family. She gives Cash the laptop.

At the Diner, Gary chats to Alf, Leah and Marilyn who all offer to help Cash. Gary says Cash doesn’t know what he needs, going from wanting to leave town to wanting to run Felicity’s business. He says Felicity was the only family Cash had left and reflects on watching her coffin be lowered into the ground and Cash going through another loss.

Cash questions Mackenzie about how they pick a supplier. Mackenzie isn’t keen to go into detail with him. She goes to talk to Xander about coffees and Xander offers to have a go. He and Cash talk about how hard it is to run a restaurant. Xander suggests Cash can let them do it. Cash thinks Xander is telling him to let his sister down and insists he’s the co-owner of the restaurant. Gary comes in as Mackenzie suggests they take a break. Cash sees Gary and walks out without a word. Gary follows Cash out and says he’s terrified by him: He had these conversations with Cash’s dad after his mum died and they both know how that ended.

Mackenzie tells Xander he didn’t deserve Cash speaking to him like that but Xander understands. Perri and Theo arrive and they discuss the baby with Mackenzie, who notes it’ll be a big change. Perri privately tells Theo he’ll tell Tane he’s moving out when he’s found somewhere to go. Meanwhile, Cash and Gary are walking through a park area and sit. Cash says he shouldn’t have lost his temper with Xander but suggests committing to Salt is a good sign and he wants to look after it for Felicity. He offers to call Gary if he needs anything but Gary insists on staying until he’s sure Cash is okay.

Perri arrives back at the farm house and greets Tane, who asks if he’s feeling weird about the baby. Perri admits he’s looking for somewhere else to live. Tane insists this is his home now and suggests they go for a drive to Yabbie Creek. Perri asks if he can drive and Tane throws him the keys. At Salt, Mackenzie offers to let Xander go but he suggests she can go instead. She goes into the store room and stumbles across the photo of Felicity from the memorial, having a flashback to them celebrating the beginning of their partnership.

Justin and Theo finish sweeping up the garage. Justin thanks Theo for today and Theo thanks Justin for letting him check on Perri. After Theo’s gone, Justin gets a phone call: He doesn’t immediately recognise the caller and hears about an accident. Later, he goes to the Diner and tells Leah and Marilyn that a customer had a car accident and ended up in hospital with a broken arm: The brakes failed on a car Theo serviced…
