Extended Summary

Mackenzie exits the surf club on the phone to Levi, who turns out to be walking towards her. She tells him she can’t be there at the moment. They kiss as Mali passes them, quipping that John has rules against that. Kirby joins Mali and tells him that the finalists of the art competition are announced today, suggesting he check his e-mails. Mali is dismissive, saying he has work to do.

At the Diner, Justin is telling Leah and Marilyn that he’s not really sure what happened but worries that Theo did a rush job because he was putting pressure on him and made a mistake signing off the car as roadworthy. Claudia is calling them responsible so he wants to call his insurance company. Leah suggests first making sure the driver wasn’t at fault.

Mackenzie and Levi arrive home. Mackenzie notes there are memories of Felicity everywhere at Salt and she isn’t keen on Cash replacing her, feeling like everyone wants to move on. Levi suggests she take a shower to unwind. After she’s gone, Levi leaves a message for Abigail, saying he needs to know that she’s okay. At the surf club, Mali gives a board to a customer. Kirby continues to chat about the competition, wondering how he’d spend the money and saying she’d take a trip to Europe. Mali insists he doesn’t care and, as Alf wanders past, tells her to take it down nine levels.

Mackenzie finds Levi doing the cooking. She says she’s decided it’s good that there are memories of Felicity at Salt, and maybe it’s good that Cash is taking over since he convinced her to take Felicity on in the first place. Levi gets a text on his phone that seems to irritate him: He says it was work but he’s hoping to hear from Abigail. Mackenzie is initially confused, then realises there’s something she doesn’t know. Levi admits that he lent Abigail money for drugs.

At the garage, Justin thanks a tow truck driver who drives off. Leah arrives and Justin explains he has Claudia’s car; she doesn’t know, but the tow truck people have let him have it overnight. Leah wonders if that’s legal. Justin says it’s not illegal but he wouldn’t be allowed to do the accident report: He just wants to know what they’re dealing with.

Mackenzie is aghast at what Levi has done. Levi says he gave Abigail the money to stop her stealing it and getting into trouble. Mackenzie suggests that might have been the wake-up call she needed. She eventually gives up and decides to head back to work, saying Levi wouldn’t listen to her about Abigail when she was there and won’t now. At the board shop, Kirby asks Mali if he’s taken a vow of silence or if he’s annoyed with her. Mali says they’re fine but remains quiet for a while before eventually saying he’d use the money to shout his mum a trip to Hawaii.

Leah arrives back at the garage to find Justin slumped on the floor. He confirms it’s not good news: The brakes failed because the caliper’s damaged and the pad came loose. It was on Theo’s checklist and he must have forgot. He says he’d hug Leah if he wasn’t covered in grease. Leah gives him a hug anyway. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is working at Salt. Levi appears and offers to listen to what she has to say about Abigail. Mackenzie says you don’t give money to a drug addict and he needs to let her make her own mistakes. Levi says you don’t come back from the mistakes she could make. Mackenzie says that if he means overdosing then he’s just given her the money to do that. Levi walks out.

Leah and Justin arrive back at the Diner, asking Marilyn for some space. They are both worried about the effect the mistake will have on Theo. Justin suggests it might help if he comes to an arrangement with Claudia before telling Theo. Nearby, Mali gets a text and tells Alf and Marilyn that he’s in the final of the art competition. He goes round to tell Kirby, who gives him a muted congratulations until he tells her she has permission to be stoked, at which point she squeals and gives him a hug. She also points out it’s all down to her and he should give her a paid day off. He agrees with everything except the last part.

Outside the surf club, Levi calls his mum, trying to track down Abigail without alarming her. Mackenzie joins him and apologises for being judgemental. Levi continues to worry and Mackenzie points out unless she’s willing to accept help she’ll exploit him. At a house in the city, a young man, Dom, wakes Abigail up. She wonders when it got dark and he says she was pretty out of it.  He suggests she go home but she wants another hit, even though she’s used all Levi’s money. Dom says he has rules but eventually agrees to her owing him, saying they’ll sort something out.

Next morning, Alf approaches Mali at the surf club, wondering if he’s told his family. Mali doesn’t think there’s anything to tell them, since he hasn’t won anything yet. Levi comes past and tells Mali he’s got stuff on his mind. Meanwhile, Abigail wakes up on Dom’s sofa. She tries to say her goodbyes to him but he says she can’t leave until she’s paid her debt and an hour’s work should do it. She looks over at where a woman is leading a man into a bedroom. He says he’s booked her in with one of his regulars, who likes a fresh face.

Levi gets a call from Abigail, who has shut herself in the bathroom and says she’s in trouble and needs him to come get her. She says she’s at 7 Edgewood Road before the call cuts off.
