Extended Summary

At Salt, Eden is looking around nervously. Cash tells her that Mackenzie isn’t there so Levi won’t be either. They hear raised voices on the balcony and find Stevie yelling at a smiling Remi, saying he’s the only reason she’s there and he lied to her…then drops out of character and asks how she did. The penny drops for Eden that they were rehearsing and Cash says you get used to it. Remi can only offer that Stevie was word perfect before they leave, reminding Cash to be there for the Sunrise interview.

At the villa, Nelson and Bree are in bed together. Bree notes she didn’t expect the day to end like this. Nelson asks if she’s disappointed. Bree asks if she looks disappointed and Nelson says she looks amazing. They hear Remi and Stevie coming back. Bree asks why Remi’s there and Nelson asks if she really wants an answer. Bree says she has to get out of there since her ex is now in the next room. Nelson points out Remi’s obviously moved on.

Xander and Dana are cuddled up on the sofa at his flat. Xander says he has to go to Salt to close up for Mackenzie: He has no idea why, since the roster’s been messed up all week. He offers to walk her home but she says she’ll wait there for him. He looks a bit annoyed as he leaves. At Salt, John is telling everyone about Sunrise. He accosts Xander when he turns up, explaining he’s going to be on TV with Stevie Marlow tomorrow. Xander asks why they chose him. John says he’s got a head for television. Xander asks if he’s actually being interviewed and he says he’s driving the star.

Next morning, Bree sneaks out onto the balcony. Nelson follows her and says he’s glad she stayed. Remi comes out to see them kissing and looks shocked. Stevie appears behind him and calls it classic walk of shame. Remi follows Nelson and Bree outside and is astonished to see Bree getting on Nelson’s bike. Bree is unrepentant.

Xander and Dana walk by the surf club. Xander says he has an inventory to do at Salt and suggests Dana go to see the filming on the beach. He passes Alf who is setting things up. Nearby, Stevie frets to Cash, Eden and Remi that John isn’t there. Nelson and Bree arrive and Stevie tells Nelson that John’s AWOL. In the office, John is pacing back and forth, practising introducing himself, but is unable to bring himself to open the door. Alf comes in and asks why John isn’t outside after bigging it up. John admits he might have bigged it up a bit too much: He has stage fright.

Alf is the one to drive Stevie down to the beach. A member of the Sunrise crew stops them and tells them to wait for a signal. Stevie notes he looks like he’d rather be anywhere else. Alf says he’d rather be fishing. Stevie uses some fishing lingo and says her pop used to take her fishing in school holidays. She notes she’s not sure what he’d think of her now. Alf thinks he’d be proud of her and she’s obviously worked hard to get where she is.

At the Diner flat, Dana is on the phone to Harper and tells her that John’s going to be on Sunrise. She turns the telly on, where studio presenter Natalie introduces a compilation of clips from Death Throes before handing over to her colleague Shirvo in Summer Bay. Alf drives Stevie up and she introduces him as her new fishing buddy and the surf club president. Shirvo notes it sounds like Alf has a fan and he says the feeling’s mutual. Stevie talks up the film to him. Off-camera, Cash keeps an eye on the crowd. Remi leaves Eden in order to ask Bree about her dating Nelson. Bree says it’s just fun and it’s a double standard since he’s seeing Stevie.

Remi follows Bree up from the beach and reminds her they broke up because of a motorbike. Bree replies that they broke up because he lied. Back at the interview, Shirvo asks Stevie about the trial of her alleged stalker Sidney Wickham next week. Stevie says he’s behind bars and she has her life back. Shirvo ends the segment. John watches in the surf club and gets a text from Jett wondering where he was. Shirvo asks Alf for a lift back to the surf club. Alf says he thought Shirvo would want to run back. Shirvo says his running days are over…a reference Alf doesn’t get. Eden tells Cash she’s going to look for Remi. Stevie and Nelson discuss both Remi and Bree disappearing before he reminds her shooting starts tomorrow.

Xander is surprised to find Dana in the flat when he gets back. She says she used the spare key to get in and watch Sunrise. Bree arrives back and evasively says she spent the night with a friend. Dana says she used up Bree’s conditioner and Bree wonders why Dana can’t go to her own place five minutes away. Xander suggests Dana go. She passes Nelson and calls out that Bree’s friend is there. Xander also gives them privacy. Nelson suggests they go for a ride.

At the Lyrik house, Eden also tries to argue Remi and Bree broke up because he lied. Remi says he told the truth eventually and it was refusing to give up the bike that caused Bree to break up with him. Eden asks if it matters since he’s with Stevie, so can’t object to Bree moving on. Remi gets a text from Stevie asking him to come round and says she’s being full-on. Eden suggests she’s the opposite of Bree but Remi says he doesn’t recognise Bree at the moment.

John tries to sneak into the Diner. Dana asks what happened to him on Sunrise. John says he realised it should have been Alf and the club got a mention anyway. He leaves as Xander turns up. Xander tells Dana Bree’s mood wasn’t about her but she’s also right about Dana always being at their place. Dana asks if she’s crowding him. Xander says not really but isn’t especially convincing.

At the villa, Cash brings Stevie a hot drink. He asks if the question about Sidney threw her and she says she’s relieved it’ll be over soon. Remi turns up and Stevie asks him to help her run lines. Remi refuses, saying he can’t run lines and give her pep-talks and isn’t her boyfriend, before storming away.
