Theo makes a sacrifice. Is Bree ready to move on? Roo follows her new calling.

Extended Summary

Justin and Theo are heading down the beach. Justin talks to Theo about telling the rest of the band. Theo still intends to but his resolve falters when he sees Kirby and he quickly heads the other way. Kirby talks to Justin, who makes an excuse. She heads home and tells Remi what happened, wondering if she should talk to Theo. Remi advises her not to but won’t say why, instead offering to look out for him.

Marilyn is making breakfast for Alf, who says he heard Roo come in last night but it was after midnight. Marilyn thinks she’s done something to upset Roo, since she left a note asking Roo to come and see her when she got in and she didn’t. She wants Alf to talk to her. Roo comes down and cheerily apologises to Marilyn for not responding to her messages and says she didn’t want to wake her last night. Marilyn quickly exits. Alf asks Roo about yesterday and she says she wants to talk to him about something.

Bree and Remi run into each other at the surf club: He is there for his physio. Their banter quickly fades into awkward silence before Remi asks about Theo. Bree says he’s had his first meeting with the psychologist. She suggests they meet up after his session and Remi says he’ll text her when he’s done.

Justin finds Theo at the Diner. Leah says he only spoke to her to order breakfast. Seeing them talking about him, Theo walks out, saying to cancel his order. Justin decides to go after him despite Leah’s warnings. Irene and Marilyn observe the exchange and Marilyn comments that everyone’s acting strangely today.

Back at the house, Roo has explained to Alf that she’s still going to apply to become an emergency foster carer. Alf recalls it was hard on her giving up the baby and Roo says that it was the idea of helping parents like Sonia that convinced her. She asks Alf how he feels about it. Alf notes he thought his days of rearing children were over and wants Roo to check with Marilyn.

Theo is frustrated that Justin is following him after he left the Diner to avoid a conversation. Justin thinks Theo’s struggling with how to tell the band. Theo says he’s decided not to quit: Everyone’s put too much work into Lyrik. Justin isn’t keen on the idea but Theo says Kirby gave up her solo career and Remi’s doing physio to be better again, plus Justin’s put time into helping him with his apprenticeship, so he’s sticking to his commitments.

Remi and Bree have met up at Salt. They make friendly conversation for a bit until Bree mentions Stevie. Remi realises she saw the post, saying he asked her to take it down and isn’t dating her. Bree faux-casually says that’s not what it looked like but Remi isn’t listening: He’s just got a text from Justin asking to talk about Theo so abruptly leaves.

At the Diner, Justin fills Leah in on his conversation with Theo before saying he has a plan. Irene and Marilyn again observe the conversation, unaware of what’s going on. Marilyn gets a text and asks Irene if she can take her break, saying Roo wants to see her. Meanwhile, Justin meets with Remi at the Lyrik house and asks what would be the worst thing that could happen if Lyrik couldn’t play for a few months. Remi says it’d just be the same as the last three months.

Roo has explained to Marilyn that her recent absences have been because she was attending information sessions about fostering. She says Alf wants it to be a household decision so asks Marilyn what she thinks. Marilyn thinks it’s a great idea. Alf still isn’t very enthusiastic but says he’s been outvoted. Roo asks Marilyn to help her get things ready.

Remi has invited Theo over and asks how he feels about rehearsing again. He tells him about Justin’s visit and says the stress has been getting to Theo for a while. Theo admits that’s true but doesn’t want to disappoint everyone, recalling how much effort Kirby has put in. Remi reminds him she had to work out what was best for her first, and Eden’s distracted at the moment so she’ll be fine.

At the Diner, Justin explains to Leah what he told Remi. Irene serves Bree and Kirby at a nearby table. Kirby is surprised that Remi thought Bree hadn’t seen the photo. Bree says she was trying to tell him it wasn’t a big deal and asks Kirby to let him know she’s fine with it. Kirby says the fact they’re having this conversation shows she isn’t.

Remi and Theo are talking things over when Kirby arrives back. Theo tells her he needs time off from the band for three or four months. Kirby reminds him he only just asked for more responsibility. She suggests he only do gigs but Theo explains he’s seeing a psychologist and they recommended this. Kirby accepts the situation.

Alf comes back in and finds Roo and Marilyn looking over what they’ll have to do before the house inspection. Alf says it’ll take a while and Roo says that’s why she wants to get started. She suggests converting Ryder’s old room. Alf ends up walking out with Marilyn and Roo deep in conversation. Roo wonders where he went.

Remi calls round to see Bree and explains he’s there to talk about Theo, thanking her for putting him in touch with someone. Bree again tries to apologise for making things awkward before and weird now, saying they’re both free to date whoever they like. Remi looks increasingly bemused and answers a call from Stevie as he leaves. Bree frantically texts Kirby, asking if it’s too early for margaritas.

Soon after, the two of them are walking through a park. Bree insists she doesn’t care about Stevie Marlow and Kirby points out that Bree can’t even say her name without grimacing. She encourages her to properly move on from Remi.

Roo tracks Alf down in the office at the surf club. Unaware she’s behind him, Alf is complaining to someone on the phone, saying Roo’s dragged Marilyn into it and calling it one of her little projects and that children’s lives are involved. Roo looks less than happy.
