Rose feels the weight of unwanted responsibility. Dana is determined to help Harper. Can Theo get the help he needs?

Extended Summary

Roo approaches John, who is sat in his buggy outside the surf club looking at his phone, and tells him the parking permits have expired and they need to renew them with council. John is more interested in trying to lock down a new celebrancy client, Robert and Emily, and says that’s the club secretary’s job. Roo admits she hasn’t kept on top of things. Dana runs up and gets in the buggy with John, apologising for being late and saying Harper was meeting her lawyer. It takes John several seconds to realise how late she is and he quickly drives off, telling Roo he’ll deal with her problem later. At the Morgan house, Leah and Justin are discussing whether or not they were right to leave Theo on his own. Justin thinks he needs a moment and Leah agrees, saying she just wants to tell him everything will be okay.

John and Dana drive down to the beach and John notes there’s a rip at the far end so they’ll have to put the flags there. Dana is distracted and admits she can’t stop thinking about Harper. John muses that she didn’t tell the police where Tane was, which is what she did with Dana, before telling her again to put the flags out. Theo appears and John asks him when Justin and Leah are back, since he wants their testimonials on the wedding. Theo says they’re back and at the house but refuses to talk further.

At the Diner flat, Xander is about to head off to work while Rose has the day off. Rose confirms to him and Bree that she hasn’t seen Mali since she seized Tane’s passport. She also reveals she asked Sarge about Harper and Mali being charged and he said it’s up to her. She concludes that she shouldn’t be talking to them about it and heads to her room. Xander has to head off to work, since Mackenzie is still absent.

At the Lyrik house, Remi is on the phone to Eden, saying there’s a clip of Sidney being arrested online, and asks about Cash and Stevie. Justin arrives and, after they check the other is up to date, asks Remi to help him get the van back. Remi notes Theo doesn’t have many mates around and Justin says getting your mates arrested, using band funds to buy drugs and getting their stuff impounded does that. Remi asks about the band funds bit and Justin says he’ll fill him in.

At the Diner, John is boasting to Alf, Irene and Marilyn about the amount of traction his business is getting and how he’ll soon need a website. Marilyn and Irene wonder how that’s possible with one wedding and no online presence. John admits he’s still only had the two offers and one’s decided to go elsewhere.

Leah approaches Theo sitting on the beach. Theo says he doesn’t want a lecture. Leah says it was hard to send Valerie away, given she was her friend when she needed help. Theo says Valerie needed help too. Leah agrees but says you can’t help someone who won’t help themselves and in the end it’ll break you.

Xander approaches Dana on the Salt balcony, apologising for the wait and asking if she’s okay. Dana wonders if she’s ever okay. She explains that she’s worried about Harper, who’s met with her lawyer and been told that, even though the charges were dropped, the fact she helped Dana out before could influence the magistrate’s decision.

Rose emerges from her bedroom and assures Bree she’s calm now…or calmer. She suspects the whole thing has been set up to test her professionalism and thinks she needs to separate her relationship from the case. Bree disagrees, saying she broke up with Remi because of her principles and now she’s alone and he’s riding off into the sunset with a movie star. She hastily adds that she doesn’t regret it.

John takes Irene’s phone and asks for her passcode, since he wants some photos of Leah and Justin’s wedding from it. Marilyn and Irene point out he needs the couple’s permission…and Irene’s. Nearby, Alf comments to Roo that it’s good she keeps in touch with Sonia and Poppy, although Roo thinks she should stay away for a while. Alf leaves and John joins Roo, apologising for not being a good friend. She admits to being disappointed but says it’s good Sonia and Poppy are back together and Tane almost stopped it from happening. However, the only help she wants from John is with the parking permits.

Leah tries to talk to Theo at home about getting help. Theo insists he’s done with drugs but Leah doesn’t think it’s that simple. Justin arrives back and tells them Valerie’s turned herself in and confessed so the charges against the band will probably be dropped. Theo wants to call her but Leah and Justin disagree. Theo angrily calls Leah a hypocrite, saying they could have turned their back on her when she pulled a knife on Justin, and you don’t do that to someone who needs help. Justin says Valerie’s not good for him and not to talk to Leah like that. Theo apologises and leaves.

Theo goes over to see Remi, saying he wants to apologise and he’ll pay the money back. Remi is more worried about the drugs. Theo says Valerie told him they’d take the pressure off and they did at first. Remi interrupts, asking what happens next time he’s stressed or got an interview. He says Theo might not be an addict but he has a problem.

Rose and Bree head towards the surf club. Rose notes Mali is treating her like one of the cops he grew up with and wonders if she was too hard on Tane because she knows him and if she’ll do the same with Mali. Bree says she’s a good cop in a complicated situation. She gets a call from Remi and Rose encourages her to take it.

Inside, Roo and Dana chat about Poppy and Sonia and Roo wonders what’s going on with Harper seeing a lawyer. Rose comes in and explains to Roo that Mali and Harper didn’t tell the police where Tane was. Roo seems annoyed that Tane got them involved. Dana tries to interrogate Rose about if she’s heard anything about the charges but Rose disappears upstairs.

Remi comes to see Bree at the flat…and has brought Theo with him. Bree asks Theo what’s happened, saying she’d like to hear it from him. Theo admits he’s been dong drugs. Bree says she could put him in touch with a support group or a one-on-one counsellor. Theo agrees but wishes someone would do this for Valerie. Remi says they have to think about him first.

At Salt, John asks Leah and Justin about showcasing their wedding on his site. Leah and Justin are fretting about Theo but relax a bit when they get a call from Remi filling him in. Xander serves Rose, who avoids talking to Dana when she comes in. Dana chats to Xander, who mentions Rose having to decide if Mali’s charged. Dana asks if she’s deciding about Harper too. Xander realises he’s said too much and says he doesn’t know. Leah and Justin chat on the balcony. Leah comments on Justin not telling her about Theo as soon as it happened and suggests it’s not the best start to married life.

Dana goes round to see Rose. She says she’s heard she has the decision on whether or not to charge Mali and Harper and tells her not to do this to her sister, saying Harper helped reunite Poppy with her mother and not to punish people who tried to help.
