Extended Summary

Levi tells Eden he wishes she hadn’t done this and reminds her he needs space from Imogen. Eden thinks he needs to talk to her and can eventually broach the subject of children. Levi gives in, saying he’ll meet her at the house after he’s got some wine. Up in Salt, Mackenzie checks on Tane, who is still preoccupied about Maia. Levi comes up and tells Mackenzie about Imogen’s visit, saying he can’t ring her up and tell her not to come. He apologises. After he’s gone, Tane checks on Mackenzie. Rose comes up and tells Tane about Maia’s foster placement.

Eden gives Imogen a tour of the Lyrik house, ending with her bedroom. Imogen thanks her for inviting her there, saying she was wondering what the place looked like. Levi returns and Imogen greets him although he seems awkward in her presence, despite saying her being there is a nice surprise. Eden asks about the wine and Levi says they didn’t have what he wanted, so Eden goes to get beer. Imogen says it reminds her of their first share house. Levi says this is nicer but agrees they were happy there.

Outside the surf club, Tane asks Rose for more details. Rose says Maia will be with the new foster family as soon as the paperwork’s finalised, and reminds him they were always looking for one and she’s still searching for the baby’s mother. Roo and Harper approach; Roo has been filled in and is disappointed but notes it was a long shot her applying. Harper isn’t quite sure when Maia will be moved but knows it’s as soon as possible, and refuses to give more details. Roo tries to tell Tane it means Maia will be safe but he isn’t convinced.

Imogen apologises for getting in the way of Levi and Eden’s bonding time but Levi says Eden just wants to get to know her and both are happy to have her there. Imogen says she’s taken a week off work. Levi says he’s got a patient in the city and may have to go back tomorrow but Eden convinces him to consider staying. Eden suggests going to Salt to eat. Levi offers to cook but Eden says they only have pasta shells and barbecue sauce and Imogen thinks eating out will make it seem more like a holiday. Levi agrees but says he’ll go to the bathroom first. He texts Mackenzie, who is on the balcony at Salt, to let her know they’re coming.

At the surf club, Alf, Roo, Mali, Harper and Rose discuss Maia’s foster placement. Alf is surprised at how fast things are moving while Roo is trying to put on a brave face. Tane joins them and again tries to get Harper to give him details of the foster family. Harper says people wouldn’t sign up if their details were given to everyone. Tane protests that he’s not everyone and blames Rose and her colleagues for the AVO. Both Alf and Mali tell him to dial it down and he leaves. Alf offers to give Roo a lift to the hospital. There, Roo cradles Maia and admits to Alf that she’s going to miss her.

Eden, Levi and Imogen are eating at Salt, with Eden telling Imogen about Lyrik being the resident band and being friends with the co-owners. Levi puts his lack of appetite down to eating a bag of chips and Eden jokingly accuses him of raiding the hotel minibar. Imogen is surprised, since she thought Levi was staying with Eden. They cover, saying a couch in a house of musicians wasn’t his thing. Eden offers to give them space but they both ask her to stay and Imogen goes to get drinks. Eden tells Levi she’s not happy lying to her.

At the farm house, Mali suggests to Rose that they watch a movie after dinner. Mackenzie turns up, saying she left Salt because it was quiet. Tane also comes in and says he didn’t know Rose was going to be there. Mali asks if that’s going to be a problem. Rose says having a home is what’s right for Maia and Tane insists he’s only thinking about her. Mackenzie ends up shouting for them all to shut up before retreating into the hall.

Imogen is in bed while Levi is sat playing with his phone. She convinces him to join her and recalls how they used to sneak off to posh hotels. She kisses him on the neck but he doesn’t respond, saying he’s tired. They lie down and she cuddles up to him, saying she doesn’t mind and it’s been a long time since they’ve been together like this.

Mackenzie is pouring herself a large glass of wine. Tane joins her and she notes neither of them can sleep. She explains that Imogen’s in town and she’s not allowed to call Levi while they’re together. She says she knew what she was getting into and that she knows Levi loves Imogen even if it’s not the same as what they have.

Next morning, Mackenzie serves Eden at Salt and wonders if she enjoyed the meal. Eden wonders how Mackenzie knew about that when she wasn’t there and Mackenzie claims Levi made a booking. She gets a call from Levi, who is at the motel and explains Imogen is in the shower. Mackenzie thinks it’s risky for him to be calling her and Levi says he wanted to check she was all right, but has to quickly ring off when Imogen comes in. She asks if they can stay and Levi agrees, before quickly making the excuse of having a shower to leave the room.

Tane runs into Harper outside the surf club and apologises for giving her a hard time yesterday, saying he accepts he’s not going to get information even though he thinks it’s wrong. He sees Rose and Mali chatting and Harper tells him Rose wants what’s best for the baby as well. Tane goes over and apologises to Rose for taking his problems with the AVO out on her. Rose thanks him and asks Mali to walk her to her car.

Levi and Imogen go round to see Eden. Eden asks their plans and suggests a walk and swim. Levi offers to go and get them coffees and the others agree. Imogen admits to Eden that last night was quiet. Eden says Levi seemed relaxed at dinner. Imogen agrees but says he became distant as soon as they were alone. She’s scared she’s losing him.

Eden and Imogen walk near the surf club with Imogen saying it feels like Levi’s pulling away. Mackenzie comes out to sign for a delivery and can’t resist listening in on the pair. Imogen says it would be better if Levi snapped or they had a fight but he’s being painfully pleasant. Eden admits he’s talked about having a family. Noticing Mackenzie saves her from further conversation and she introduces the pair, before asking if Levi’s in Salt. Mackenzie says he isn’t but invites them both upstairs for a coffee. They agree.
