Mackenzie fears she’s been exposed. Remi is caught in a lie. Justin and Leah set a date.
Extended Summary
Mackenzie catches up to Alf and attempts to innocently question him. Alf says he saw her but it quickly becomes clear he’s talking about her surfing earlier. Mackenzie confirms it was the first time back on the board since her heart attack. She still senses Alf is in a bad mood. He guesses she hasn’t read the Coastal News and advises her not to. Moments later, he bumps into Justin, who confirms Leah gets back this afternoon but is worried given how she was when she last came back.
At the Lyrik house, Bree and Remi are kissing. He suggests going to the bedroom but she points out he is meant to be avoiding strenuous exercise and hasn’t even started physical rehab yet. Remi says he’d start it now if the gym was open. Bree says she’s arranged for Tane to give them the keys and Grant to be ready to act as physio when Remi’s ready. She says it’s the least she can do since he gave up the bike. Eden comes home, grumpy about not getting to spend time with Cash, and Bree goes to phone Grant.
Cash overhears Stevie on the phone, apparently arranging a present for Paul and eventually settling on a bike for his son. She wonders what would have happened if the room service food really had been poisoned and worries she’s being paranoid. Cash reassures her and Stevie wonders what they’re going to do for food if they can’t order room service. Later, Cash returns laden down with shopping bags, saying they’ve got a kitchen and he always does a big shop. Stevie protests it’ll need a gourmet chef but when Cash teases her about not being able to cook, she vows to try.
Justin is setting up the house when Leah arrives back early, explaining her session finished early. She wonders if Theo and Valerie are there. Justin says they went to Yabbie Creek to give them space and he can call them back if it’s wrong. Leah says it’s fine and declines his offer to put her bag in her room for her. Later, she tries to reassure him, saying she just needed to see her counsellor to get clarity and she has. Justin realises she’s still wearing her engagement ring and she says she’s never taking it off. Justin hugs and kisses her and she suggests they talk about the wedding.
At the park, Levi finishes a phone call, apparently with Imogen, saying he has to get back to Eden. Mackenzie returns and says Alf definitely didn’t see them. She asks what happened with Eden. Later, Levi wonders what would have happened if Eden had seen them. Mackenzie is fed up of sneaking around like a teenager and suggests going away somewhere where they can be themselves. Levi says he needs to talk to Eden first but will meet her at hers.
Remi and Bree are at the surf club to meet Grant. Justin and Leah arrive and Leah is surprised to see the gym closed. They chat to Remi and Bree about the rehab and Justin says Remi will soon be back on his bike. Remi quickly changes the subject before they go into the gym. Bree asks what Justin meant. Remi initially tries to claim it’s an expression before saying he didn’t want to tell Justin he gave the bike up after all the work he did on it and didn’t want Bree to feel bad. Bree apologises as Grant arrives, saying he’s never known someone come through what Remi did and warning him it’s going to hurt.
Up in Salt, Justin chats to Leah about Remi getting his bike back, Bree being less than enthusiastic and him storing it at the garage. Leah notes she needs a dress for the wedding and suggests setting a date. Nearby, Eden arrives to meet Levi. He apologises for being defensive and says it’s a shame Eden hasn’t had their dad around. Eden says they’ll never see eye to eye over him but think their own relationship is important. She suggests a drink but Levi says he has to leave. They briefly chat about Cash still being at work.
Stevie produces a pan which she says is fish pasta. Cash eats a chunk of fish and says it’s awful. He apologises for ignoring her calls and says she can call him any time if she’s reasonable. There’s a knock at the door signalling the arrival of Cash’s replacement, Omar. Cash lets him in after checking his identity. He checks Stevie is fine with this since she didn’t interview him. Stevie is and asks Omar how he feels about fish pasta.
Bree looks on as Grant gets Remi to draw a small weight back and forth from his chest to his arms’ extension, which he is struggling with. Eden joins them before Grant calls a break, saying he’ll be back in ten minutes. Remi sends Bree to get him a juice, then asks Eden to talk to Justin for him and tell him not to mention the bike in front of Bree, admitting she thinks he got rid of it. Eden is unimpressed and refuses to help him lie to Bree.
Justin and Leah arrive at the Diner to warm greetings from Alf, Irene and Marilyn. They reveal they’re getting married in a month and have a lot to organise: The venue, the celebrant, the food, the music, the guest list. Alf wonders about their families and Leah says she won’t get married without VJ. Irene and Marilyn step aside and wonder if they should tell the couple about John. They eventually decide to keep quiet and let John throw himself under the bus.
Cash arrives home to be greeted by Eden. He says Stevie just had a scare. Eden is unimpressed that he was away all day and ignored her calls. Cash says he was doing his job. Eden says she had problems with Levi and Remi and needed to talk to him. She wonders if he’s always going to drop everything and leave. Cash looks bewildered and Eden leaves. At the gym, Grant directs Remi in a last few pulls on some ropes before ending the session. Bree goes to get him some water and Grant tells Remi he’s lucky to have her.
Cash goes over to see Eden at the Lyrik house and apologises for not being there for her but also says he’s struggling to work out how to do his new job. He says he doesn’t want her to feel like second best and offers to cook her dinner and listen to her at his. Remi and Bree arrive back from the rehab session. Bree goes to get painkillers and Eden tells Cash she’ll be over in a second. She tells Remi she was a bit hard on him. Remi says she was right and he’s going to tell Bree.
At the Diner, Irene and Marilyn listen as Alf is on the phone saying Tane has done nothing wrong and not to believe everything they read. He tells them one of the members thinks Tane’s tarnished the surf club’s reputation. Marilyn tries to cheer him up by suggesting he gets involved in planning Leah’s wedding, saying they’ve only got four weeks. Alf snaps that there are more important things.
Bree gets back to Remi and offers to go and get them some burgers from the Diner. Remi tells her that he lied about the bike: He never intended to get rid of it.
