Extended Summary

At the Diner, Harper and Dana wonder what’s so bad about John wanting to be a celebrant. Irene and Marilyn explain he wants to officiate at Justin and Leah’s wedding and hasn’t told them. Dana agrees that is crazy; John has rushed up to the city. Marilyn asks about the baby. Dana refers to her as Maia and Harper reminds her no-one outside the hospital is meant to know the name. There’s been no word of the mother but Rose is still getting calls since the press conference and the sisters are handing out flyers tomorrow.

At the farm house, Mackenzie accuses Levi of putting pressure on her. Levi says he wants to know where he stands: He offered to leave his wife and Mackenzie rejected him. Mackenzie asks if he ever thinks about Imogen. Levi says he feels sick about hurting her but all Mackenzie needs to think about is what she wants. They kiss and it starts to get passionate but Mackenzie puts a stop to it, saying she could pretend when she knew nothing about Imogen but hearing Eden talk about her has made her real. She tells Levi to go. He doesn’t look happy but complies.

Eden is pleased when Cash comes home. She asks if he got the job and Cash says it wouldn’t have worked out. He says it was for a horror film actor called Stevie. Eden has heard of Stevie Marlow and says the whole world has (apart from Cash). Cash describes her as stubborn but not as pretty as Eden. He tells her about the stalker without giving details and explains he left before she could offer him the job because neither of them was willing to compromise.

Dana turns up at Salt and asks Xander for a large white wine. She jokes that she’s been crying herself to sleep every night since he friend-zoned her and thanks him for being okay about it. She invites him to join her for a drink but he says he’s going to go home and crash, which leaves her embarrassed. Levi turns up and Dana is surprised to see him. She invites him to join her for a drink, saying she’s been rejected twice, which she thinks he wouldn’t know about.

Downstairs, a young man is photographing the flyers about the baby. Alf approaches him and he introduces himself as Peter Rolfe of the Coastal News. Alf has heard of him and says he never lets the truth get in the way of a good story. Peter asks Alf’s opinion of the mother, suggesting she was a welfare cheat or addict, and of the incompetent police investigation. Alf sends him on his way. Xander observes the altercation and Alf explains he was a muckraking journalist.

Next morning, Cash and Eden are leaving the house, with him reflecting on being reduced to accompanying her to Yabbie Creek to get new guitar strings. A limousine sudddenly pulls up in front of them and the window winds down to reveal Stevie, who declares that no-one says no to her.

Harper and Dana are handing out flyers in a grassy area and, when a young man refuses to take one, Dana says she should be used to getting blown off. She says Xander is convinced she’s still hung up on him. Harper heads down the beach as Peter approaches and says he heard about the baby. Dana says the baby’s happy, healthy and well cared for, adding that she’s a nurse at Northern Districts. Peter tells her his name (but nothing else) and suggests she talk to him about it over a coffee. Dana says she knows just the place.

Cash and Eden show Stevie into the house. Cash starts to introduce Eden who blurts out that she’s a huge fan, before agreeing to leave them alone. Stevie says that after she threw Cash off her yacht (which Cash points out isn’t what happened), the security company rang her with his recommendations. Cash says it was a professional courtesy but Stevie says none of the other applicants did it. She says the stalker’s in her head and she needs someone she trusts in her corner.

Levi calls round to see Eden who tells him about meeting Stevie Marlow. (Unlike Cash, Levi knows who she is.) Levi says he’s heading home and suggests they have lunch first. He says he might not be coming back there for work any longer but suggests she come to the city. Eden says she and Imogen already have plans and Levi did good with her. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is sat at home with her phone in her hand, tapping her foot and pacing. She put the phone down long enough to make a cup of tea but ends up texting Levi hoping he hasn’t left town.

Cash follows Stevie to her car. She is still hoping he’ll come and work for her. Cash says he’ll only do it if she does whatever it takes to protect herself. Stevie gives a brief wave to Eden, who has wandered over, as she departs. Once inside the house, Cash tells Eden what happened and notes that Stevie’s scared. Eden says you think film stars lead perfect lives. Cash says he’s worried Stevie won’t be willing to change her lifestyle. Eden suggests this is the type of challenge he was after and reminds him he joined the police to protect people.

Peter and Dana are having their coffee at Salt. Dana is spending most of her time looking over to make sure Xander’s watching. She refers to the baby as Maia, saying the guy who found her came up with it: Tane, who runs the local gym and hasn’t left her side. Peter takes her number and leaves. Xander comes over and asks if that was a date (which Dana claims it was), telling her that Peter’s a journalist and Alf threw him out. Dana looks as though she’s realising she messed up.

Levi turns up at the farm house in answer to Mackenzie’s text. She greets him with a kiss but he stops her. She says she knows everything about what they’re doing is wrong but she wants him with her, cuddling up to him. Meanwhile, Cash and Stevie walk away from the boat, with Cash now in his suit. He thanks her for taking his advice and she thanks him for taking the job. He warns her to listen to him all the time.

Levi and Eden arrive at Salt for lunch. She notes he looks happier. Levi spends most of the conversation looking over at Mackenzie at the bar. Eden says that, with Cash’s suspension and her not doing gigs with Lyrik, she and Cash have been spending all their time with each other but that will change now he’s working for Stevie. She wonders how Levi and Imogen cope with hardly seeing each other. Levi just says that she and Cash will work it out.

Cash has a look around Stevie’s hotel suite and declares it clear. He says he’s told hotel reception not to let anyone up without clearing it with him. Stevie checks that doesn’t include the hotel masseuse but Cash doesn’t want her going anywhere. Stevie isn’t happy about being a prisoner there. Cash also asks to look at her phone to check the location settings are turned off and wants her to stay off social media. Stevie refuses, saying she’s met Cash halfway but he needs to do his job and let her do hers.
