Extended Summary

Mali is outside the surf club when he gets a call from Mackenzie, who apologises for going too far and says she doesn’t really want him to move out. Mali replies that by bringing Levi to the house, she’s made him his problem, and she’ll have to decide if she still wants him there. Only after he’s hung up does he realise Felicity has come up behind him and overheard part of the conversation. She wonders about Mackenzie throwing him out and Mali tries to dismiss it as housemate stuff.

Mackenzie tries to convince Levi she’s sorted things with Mali and he’s not causing problems between them. Levi tells her what Mali said about him having women all over the country and says he doesn’t like people seeing him like that. Mackenzie asks him not to leave and Levi admits he doesn’t want to.

At the Newman house, Cash is ironing a shirt, telling Eden that the person who called him has offered him a chance to earn money rather than sitting around the house. Eden isn’t keen on him not being around as much but tells him she’s proud of him. Cash notes his job is walking around a closed shopping centre for twelve hours. Eden says something might happen. Back at the surf club, Felicity continues to quiz Mali, worried there’s something going on with Mackenzie. Mali refuses to talk to her about it.

John shows up at the Diner and sits down with Roo without being invited. He is preoccupied with her cancelling the investigation. Roo tells him the club’s accepted the money so he can buy his walkie-talkies. John remains suspicious but ends up leaving. Meanwhile, Cash has changed into a security guard’s uniform and Eden comments on running away from people dressed like that. She says she’ll stay there tonight so Cash can tell her all about his first shift in the morning.

Mackenzie and Levi are sat outside the house together with Levi saying they have until the morning together. Mackenzie assures him Mali and Tane won’t be home tonight and admits she went a bit far by asking Mali to move out. Levi isn’t happy that he’s causing trouble for her at home. Mackenzie suggests it would be worth it and asks him where this is going: She doesn’t get an immediate answer.

At the surf club, Mali is on the phone to Tane, confirming neither of them will be home tonight. Felicity reappears and asks Mali if he knows why Mackenzie cancelled her shift. Mali claims ignorance but also tells her she’s got nothing to worry about and he only isn’t going home because he’s spending time with Rose.

Levi and Mackenzie have gone inside. Levi isn’t sure what Mackenzie wants him to say and says he’s trying to wrap his head around it. Mackenzie points out that someone will end up broken-hearted. Levi says he doesn’t want it to be her but he’s still married They hear a car outside and initially think it’s Tane or Mali turning up until Felicity calls out that she’s got a food delivery. Levi quickly hides the wine glasses; Felicity is surprised and worried to see him there.

Roo and Marilyn are walking home. Roo complains that John has forgotten about all the new equipment he wanted to buy with the money. She also notices John is still following them. John gets closer and protests that he always walks home this way. Marilyn suggests he just walk with them and Roo says he won’t beat Cash as a private investigator. John replies that Cash didn’t find out who donated the money. After he’s gone, Roo reminds Marilyn that Cash doesn’t want John to know he found the donor.

Felicity tells Mackenzie she wasn’t planning to eat with her and didn’t expect her to have a guest. Levi says he was working nearby and just called in to check on her. Felicity assumes Mackenzie threatening to throw Mali out is because he was being overprotective. Mackenzie shoos Felicity out. Levi wants to head back to the city but Mackenzie wants to finish their conversation.

At the Newman house, Eden gets a text from Cash saying the mean streets of Yabbie Creek are pretty quiet. Felicity returns and learns why Eden’s there. She asks her if she’s going to see Levi while he’s in town. Eden is confused and Felicity explains about seeing him at Mack’s. Back there, Mackenzie continues to quiz Levi but he can’t give her an answer, saying he wasn’t thinking about the future when he started this. He insists he’s not going anywhere but Mackenzie replies that tomorrow he’s going home to his wife. Levi can’t offer anything other than that he’s there and he’s coming back.

Next morning, Roo runs into Cash at the coffee cart and warns him that John’s still on the warpath, moments before John himself turns up. John is immediately suspicious on seeing them together and wonders if Cash’s new job is the reason he dropped the investigation. Cash can’t deal with this and heads off. Roo asks John to let sleeping dogs lie and John replies that he wants to know who the dogs are.

Mali arrives home. Mackenzie tells him she doesn’t want him to move out but she’s going to keep seeing Levi. When Levi appears, Mali doesn’t make any attempt to hide the fact he doesn’t like him being there. Mackenzie walks Levi out and they kiss goodbye. As Levi is about to drive off, he gets a phone call from Eden who wonders why he didn’t tell her he was in town. Levi says it was just a flying visit and he’ll call her next time. Shortly after she’s hung up, Cash comes in and collapses next to her. He wants to vent about his first shift but Eden is preoccupied with thinking Levi’s hiding something.

Roo walks John to the Diner where she explains to him that Cash knows who the donor is but she doesn’t, although he assured her it’s above board. John wonders why Cash won’t tell them and Roo admits she’s been so focused on keeping it from John that she hasn’t asked. Meanwhile, Eden approaches Mali at the surf club and asks him about Levi’s visit. Mali tries to give evasive answers, insisting he knows nothing, and eventually snaps that she should talk to Levi if she has a problem.
