Extended Summary

Tane pulls up outside the farm house, hoping to go inside for a feed. Mali meets him having been kicked out, meaning Tane has as well; Mackenzie is having Levi over, which they’re not supposed to know about, and probably expected Tane to stay at the gym. At the Diner, Dana refuses to tell Irene who she has a crush on, leading Irene to deduce it’s someone she knows. She says Dana’s a real catch and Dana admits that’s what he said, which Irene considers a green light. Dana says she isn’t ready to date again after her ex and is just going for a harmless fantasy romance.

Levi pulls up outside the farm house and Mackenzie comes running up, jumps into his arms and kisses him. Levi checks this is okay, saying he can check into the motel. Mackenzie says she felt cooped up in there. They head inside and kiss, commenting on how much they’ve missed each other and how hard it was not being able to text or call.

Mali and Tane approach the surf club. Tane says he wants Mackenzie to be happy but now it’s going on under their roof. Mali thinks Mackenzie will do anything to keep the affair going. Rose appears, having been summoned by Mali to a last minute lunch. She senses she’s interrupting something but they deny it and Mali claims they were talking about the washing-up roster. Rose heads on up to Salt ahead of them, leaving Mali to express annoyance he’s now lying to his girlfriend and Tane to express bewilderment that he went with washing up roster.

They head inside where Mali tries to get Tane to join them but Tane says he’ll eat later. He notices Harper still sitting nearby. She says she cancelled the date and thinks things are moving too fast. Tane thinks that’s how it’s supposed to go and convinces her to rebook the date. However, he seems to have second thoughts on learning the date’s name is Derek.

Mackenzie and Levi are now in bed. Mackenzie asks what happened when he was back home and tries to get specifics of what happened between him and Imogen. Levi asks if she really wants to know and Mackenzie realises she doesn’t. She says she’s going to get them drinks but looks downcast once she’s in the corridor. Not long after, Levi finds her outside. Mackenzie insists she’s fine with it and Levi says they both came into this with their eyes open.

Dana arrives in Salt and Xander asks her for her help with the paint and sip night. Dana claims she’ll be too busy and Xander protests that it was her idea. Dana eventually gives in and agrees to help him. Nearby, Rose and Mali are eating, with Mali avoiding talking about anything in detail even though Rose has guessed there’s something going on with Mackenzie. Mali then gets a reminder that he needs to drop a client’s board off. He apologises and tells Rose that he’ll be back and spend the night at hers. Left alone, Rose watches Xander and Dana at the bar suspiciously.

Mali heads home and goes to retrieve something from a drawer. Levi emerges from the bedroom and tells Mali that he was just giving Mackenzie a follow-up check-up. Mackenzie emerges after him and explains that Mali knows everything…which doesn’t exactly ease the tension. Meanwhile, Harper arrives at the surf club dressed up for her date. Tane assures her that he’ll find her stunning. Harper worries that he might be a serial killer or something. Tane says he’ll be in the gym so she can text him if she needs a rescue.

Harper heads upstairs and notices Xander and Dana before meeting with her date Derek. Dana is shocked to see Harper on a date and Xander has to restrain her from going over there, telling her to stay at the bar while he sorts out an order. Once he’s gone, Rose steps in front of Dana and declares she has a crush on her brother. They head out onto the balcony where Dana asks Rose to keep it quiet since she’s not going to do anything. Rose agrees, noting her clueless brother is the perfect person to have a secret crush on.

Levi is shocked that Mackenzie told Mali about him. Mackenzie says he already saw them kissing and technically he guessed…but she did tell Tane. Levi isn’t happy, saying he could lose both Imogen and Eden if the truth comes out. Mackenzie replies that she isn’t keen on the idea of being branded a home wrecker and losing Eden as a friend.

Harper is getting more and more frustrated with Derek as he keeps talking about his ex, Cassie. When he takes a selfie of them and notes Cassie will be spewing when she sees it, Harper realises he’s trying to make her jealous. Derek suggests going back to his to fool around and Harper tells him before he dates again he should get over his ex…and himself. She joins Tane, Xander and Dana at the bar and tells Tane she didn’t really need a rescue but thanks him for the offer. They leave together with a pizza. Xander is surprised when Rose appears since he didn’t realise she was still there. Rose goes along with Dana’s story that she was spying on Harper.

Levi exits the house as Mali is loading up the board in his van and gets a text from Imogen asking if he’ll be home tonight. Mali tells Levi that he’s going to hurt Mackenzie and wonders how many people like her there are out there. Levi heads back inside and starts packing a bag. Mackenzie admits it wasn’t a bright idea to bring him there but she wanted it to feel normal. Levi says nothing about what they’re doing is normal. Mackenzie convinces him to wait while she fixes things.

Mackenzie goes out to confront Mali, telling him if he can’t support her then he can move out. Mali thinks she doesn’t mean it, but when she says she does, he says fine and drives off. Mackenzie doesn’t look very happy.
