Extended Summary
Cash is dousing the fire. Eden appreciates what camping means to him and that he shared it with her, wondering what he wants to do. Cash suggests a bushwalk he and Gary used to go on to a waterfall. Eden agrees. Back at the Lyrik house, Theo turns up and asks Kirby if he can hang. Kirby suggests they work on the song together. Remi comes in, finishing a phone call saying Lyrik will be happy to do it. Theo and Kirby wonder what he’s agreed to and he explains about Xander’s fundraiser and that he wants them to play. They both agree and Remi decides to call Eden. Theo gets a text from Justin. Remi advises him to see what he wants.
Outside the surf club, Roo expresses surprise that Alf hasn’t told John about the resignations. Alf says he was the one who took the decision to reinstate him so he should take the flak. Roo offers to ask around with the committee members and find out what’s going on. Meanwhile, Theo joins Justin in Salt. Justin apologises for taking over the song, explaining that it made him feel less useless about Leah. Theo sarcastically says it’s great he came through for her but there’s more important things. He storms out and Justin follows, realising this is about Leah. Theo says he was living with her and didn’t notice anything, before walking off. Alf steps in, convincing Justin that Theo needs a breather.
Kirby tries to talk to Remi about a theme for the set list but he isn’t really listening and she realises there’s something on his mind. Remi explains about Bree planning to go overseas for a year and wonders if he did the right thing encouraging her to go. Kirby says they’re strong but a year’s a long time. Theo turns up and Kirby discreetly sends a text, probably to Justin, saying where he is. Remi then gets a call from Eden who tells him she’s camping: She went on a bushwalk for hours and has had blisters, scratches and a tick. She wants to use rehearsing for the fundraiser as an excuse to come back. Remi agrees to ride down and get her at the Crystal Gorge camp site. After finishing the call, Eden turns round and finds Cash there.
Alf and Justin are talking up in Salt. Justin feels he dropped the ball by not thinking about how Leah being in the clinic would affect Theo. Alf encourages him to focus on looking after the family. As Justin leaves, Roo turns up and tells Alf she spoke to a committee member: They’re not happy about Alf overruling them but Simon Henderson has been getting in people’s ears and stirring things. Alf worries that soon they won’t have a committee.
The pair of them exit the surf club, deciding that their only chance is to talk to the other committee members. John appears and accuses Alf of trying to oust him and install Roo as manager. Roo says she doesn’t want the job and Alf tells him about Henderson stirring things and how Alf didn’t actually talk him round but told him to stick his complaint. Even though Alf insists he did it for the club, John is surprised that Alf sided with him over their main sponsor.
Justin turns up at the Lyrik house and asks Kirby to give him and Theo some space. Theo says he overreacted and Justin apologises for not thinking about him. Theo thinks that Justin got through to Leah when she had the knife while he just choked. Justin replies that Theo did the right thing by calling Bree and says he’ll be there for him whatever happens with Leah.
Out in the bush, Cash accepts Eden isn’t into camping but isn’t happy that she rang Remi for help, saying they should be upfront with each other. Eden says she was trying to spare his feelings. Cash asks her to stay for one more night, after which they’ll check into a hotel. Eden agrees. She rings Remi’s voicemail and leaves a message saying she doesn’t need him to pick her up.
Remi, however, doesn’t hear the message since he is already speeding towards them on his bike. Not too far away, a ute is being driven by two men, Wes and Mickey. Wes, the driver, asks Mickey which girl he’s got the hots for and jokingly tries to grab his phone, as they also drink beer and argue over the radio channel. They round a bend and find Remi coming the other way. They all brake and swerve but the back of the van hits Remi and sends him flying. Wes goes to check on him and announces he’s dead. They hide the bike under foliage and Wes insists to Mickey that they take Remi’s body and bury him where no-one will find him.
That night, alone at the Morgan house, Justin starts a rendition of Spotlight on the guitar, while Kirby and Theo are practising at the Lyrik house and Cash is asleep alone in the tent. Eden is trudging through the bush with a lantern and toilet roll, noting Cash is lucky she loves him. She stumbles across Mickey digging a hole. She turns and comes face to face with Wes. She calls out for Cash but Wes knocks her out. Realising she’s not alone, he decides they need to get her out of there before someone comes looking, taping her mouth and tying her hands, then dumping her and her things in the back of their vehicle before they drive off. Eden comes round and finds Remi lying next to her.
Next morning, Cash wakes up to find Eden isn’t with him. He goes outside and calls out to her in increasing desperation, his shouts echoing around the empty countryside.
