Extended Summary

Kirby and Forrest are walking near the beach and she wonders when she’ll meet her stylist. Forrest says it’ll be on the day of the shoot. Kirby is disappointed, noting this is her first time flying solo and she was hoping to have a meeting to discuss it. Forrest says that’s what they’re doing now and invites her to tell him her ideas. Meanwhile, at the beach house, Harper and Dana have filled Irene in on the situation. Harper apologises for involving her. Irene isn’t keen on the situation, but when Harper says Cash will vouch for them, she agrees to hold off on making a decision until she’s spoken to him.

Felicity wonders about Tane’s idea and he says he felt connected with home when he was back there. Cash comes in and Felicity asks him what he’d do if he had a million dollars, before remembering he’s been dreaming of running a country police station since he was fifteen. She notes they should be able to afford Tane’s plan by the time they’re eighty. Cash gets a call from Irene.

Justin comes home and tells Leah there’s still a backlog at the garage but he’s going to reward himself for catching up on paperwork with a surf. Leah suggests Theo joins him but Justin says he’s busy at TAFE. Leah praises them both for picking themselves up after their disappointment. Meanwhile, Kirby is showing Forrest her ideas, which he deems a bit bohemian, outside the surf club. Justin comes along and learns what they’re doing, offering his help since he organised the launch for Lyrik. Forrest politely declines and tells Kirby they’ll send her ideas off.

Tane gets the laptop out and shows Felicity the land he’s hoping to buy, noting they’ll get it cheap because they’re no electricity, water or sewage set up. He explains his dad used to take him fishing there and the whanau have offered to help him with a deposit, with them needing a loan for the rest.

At the Diner, Leah comments on Irene being back early and they discuss the falling out between Roo and Marilyn. Cash comes in and Irene shows him to a table for a chat. He notes he should have told her but tells her she can trust Harper and Dana, and that Dana has been framed by her ex and Madden. He’s hoping the anti-corruption commission will sort things. He says she could be in trouble for helping Dana, but if she doesn’t then an innocent woman could go to jail.

On the balcony at Salt, Forrest shows Kirby the mock-up of her designs on his laptop, prior to sending them off to the label. He invites Kirby to stay for a celebratory drink but Kirby says she wants to get home to finish a song she’s working on. Later, Forrest is on the phone, telling someone that’s what he thought. Leah and Justin turn up and Forrest says he’ll pay for their meal, since he owes Justin for putting a word in for him with Kirby. While Leah gets a table, Justin tells Forrest he’d do anything to do what he does. Forrest tells him not to be so willing to give up his family, since Forrest is going back to a motel room alone while Justin’s having dinner with a beautiful woman.

Back at the beach house, Dana appears with a bag. She tells Harper she needs to get going, since Irene could tell the police about her. Irene comes home and says she’s not going to do that: She’s not the type to throw two innocent women to the wolves. She tells Dana to go and unpack in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Felicity asks Tane to let her think about his proposal, with him planning to build a house on the land. She worries he’s making a snap decision. Cash comes home and notes Eden is still off songwriting with Remi. He gets a phone call and heads outside to take it, asking for good news. Meanwhile, Irene finds Dana sitting up and she admits she’s having trouble sleeping. She thanks Irene for trusting them. Giving her a cuddle, Irene notes the house has always been a refuge for people in need and she’d like that to continue.

Madden is in Salt when a colleague, Fletcher, joins him. Fletcher queries Madden insisting on surveillance. Madden says Cash is up to something so they can’t take their eye off them. Next morning, Kirby meets Forrest by the beach. He tells her the label have decided to stick with their original idea. Kirby is disappointed she doesn’t have any input. Forrest tells her she’s surrounded herself with experts and needs to trust them.

At the Diner, Cash tells Harper the meeting’s been brought forward. Irene is watching them and Leah questions her about the tension with Cash. Irene claims Cash is just helping Harper with parking fines. Fletcher listens in from a nearby table as Cash discusses the meeting with Harper and Irene. He types out a text. At the police station, Madden is filling a water bottle when he gets Fletcher’s message: “I know what Newman is up to. We’re out of time.”

Justin is placing an order at Salt and notices Kirby sitting alone. She explains about her ideas for the album cover being rejected. Justin encourages her to trust that Forrest knows what he’s doing. Tane and Felicity come in, discussing his proposal. Felicity says she’s on board: She always saw home as a place to get away from, but now home is wherever he is.

At the beach house, Irene produces breakfast for Dana and Harper. There’s a knock on the door and Dana ducks into the bedroom. It’s Madden and Fletcher and this time Madden has a warrant. He announces he’s arresting Harper for hindering an investigation and perverting the course of justice. Dana runs out of the room and says it’s her he wants. Madden and Fletcher take her away.

Cash is wearing dress uniform as Tane and Felicity come home, with Tane on the phone making an offer. Cash says it’s nice to see Felicity doing something grown up. As he’s about to leave, he gets a call from Harper. He heads to the police station where Irene and Harper are fretting about the fact that they’ve got there before Dana and Madden: No-one knows where they are.
