Extended Summary

Tane leads Felicity away from the group, with Mackenzie and Eden going with them. Eden is apologetic, while Mackenzie offers Felicity some ice. Felicity just heads for home, with Tane following her. Later, Tane follows Felicity out of the house and convinces her to take an ice pack to stop the swelling. Felicity comments on his lack of supervision and he explains the phone call from Nikau was about Gemma: She’s in hospital after a car crash, with a broken leg and collarbone. Nikau is trying to get a flight to go and see her. Felicity points out Tane’s closer but he says there’s lots of people looking after her.

At the Diner, Leah is on the phone to Theo, assuring him Justin and Remi have things covered and wondering if he’s even out of bed yet. She thinks she should go home and check on him. Marilyn agrees she can keep an eye on things but seems relieved when Leah says she’ll stay until the end of the lunch rush. Later, Marilyn seems increasingly flustered. Leah realises things haven’t exactly quietened down. Marilyn insists she go anyway. John comes in and clears a table, commenting on having to do it himself. Marilyn snaps that he can go elsewhere if he’s not happy.

Leah arrives home to find Theo has at least made it to the couch and started playing video games but he isn’t keen on her encouraging him to go out, saying people will just ask him about Lyrik. Leah tries to convince him this won’t be the end to his music career either way. At the surf club, John approaches Eden as she’s playing pool and comments that people are talking about her hitting Felicity, suggesting he might sue. Eden asks if he has something else to do. John almost makes it to the office but then turns back and asks about Lyrik cancelling their gig. Eden says he only ever complains about the noise and John says he also complains about where they park. Eden admits Kirby quit but refuses to go into details, saying him telling her about Harper doesn’t make them gossip buddies.

Up in Salt, Theo is trying to convince Mackenzie to let him play background music on the guitar. Mackenzie says that’s not what she needs, she needs people drinking and dancing, and if she’d wanted someone to play covers, she’d have kept Lyrik on. Eden has wandered up during the conversation and comments on everyone looking out for themselves.

Tane comes back to Felicity outside the house but says he hasn’t booked a flight to New Zealand and wants to stay with her. Felicity says it’s a chance for him to see Nikau and he’s an uncle and brother-in-law as well as her husband, plus the guy that attacked her is behind bars now. Tane points out they’ve still got the sentencing to come but Felicity says she’s not going to let what happened define her.

Marilyn is continuing to be flustered at the Diner, ignoring customers that try to order. John comes back to check on her as she admits Leah hasn’t come back and the afternoon girl didn’t turn up. However, she also refuses his offer of help, saying he’s interrupting her. At Salt, Theo is telling Eden that he wants Justin and Remi to succeed but needs a Plan B in case they don’t. Eden is insistent that Lyrik’s problems are only temporary. Mackenzie asks them to keep it down. Theo leaves and Eden accuses him of bailing.

Felicity is on the phone outside the house, telling someone she didn’t know that was a thing and will get back to them. Tane comes out and Felicity tells him the phone call was Eden apologising again. Tane has arranged to go to New Zealand and Felicity assures him she’ll be fine there by herself, although she looks tense while hugging him.

Later, at Salt, they fill in Mackenzie on the situation. Felicity insists she doesn’t need to go with him and will keep an eye on the gym and help Mackenzie out. Eden comes in and offers Felicity dinner to make up for earlier, although she admits she can only afford one course. Felicity suggests that, since she’s the co-owner, she’ll pay.

A customer at the Diner tries to attract Marilyn’s attention to let her know his order’s wrong. John steps in, telling Marilyn the customer wanted chips, not salad. Marilyn isn’t too sympathetic but says she’ll sort it. She reluctantly accepts John’s offer to help out. Later, John is complaining about a latte being $5 as Leah turns up. She is surprised to see John working there and says she’s been at the coffee cart. John tries to admonish her for leaving Marilyn alone and offer business advice but both Leah and Marilyn send him packing.

Eden asks Felicity if she enjoyed the meal she didn’t buy her. Felicity asks where Eden’s going to be tonight, since it’s the last time she’ll see Tane in ages. Eden says she and Cash will stay over at hers. After Felicity and Tane have gone, Eden tries to buy a beer, then realises she can only afford water. Mackenzie offers her shifts there but Eden calls it a pity offer and insists she doesn’t need a Plan B, despite Mackenzie pointing out she has bills to pay. Meanwhile, Leah arrives home to find Theo playing a sombre song. He says Mackenzie didn’t go for his offer. Leah says it’s no reflection on his talent but Theo heads off to bed, still despondent.

Next morning, John is giving Tane a lift to the airport. He and Felicity say their goodbyes outside the house, with her looking pensive after he’s gone. Back at the Morgan house, Leah tells Theo that Justin and Remi have stayed over in the city and are going to talk to the lawyer again today. She tries to argue they wouldn’t still be there if nothing could be done. Theo recalls Dimitri telling him that music was a waste of time. Leah reminds him that Justin told him music is never a waste of time.

Felicity goes over to the Lyrik house. Eden is still preoccupied with hitting her but Felicity says this isn’t about that: She had a phone call saying her attacker wants to meet her.
