Extended Summary

Outside the surf club, Remi performs to a crowd, with Theo, Bree and Kirby all drifting over to listen. Remi points out Kirby and encourages the crowd to buy their album or come and see the gig tonight. He goes over to talk to Theo and Bree about performing without Kirby tonight. Back at the Morgan house, Justin tries to protest to Forrest that they’re trying to promote the album. Forrest replies that the album will have to be taken down from all platforms and says the rest of Lyrik are all talented musicians in their own right. He also says they should have been across contracts. Justin asks if Kirby’s on board with this and Forrest says it’s business. Leah come home and is introduced to Forrest before he leaves. She asks Justin what happened.

Bree checks on Remi, who is trying to sort out a setlist but notes they haven’t had time to rehearse the new arrangements with Theo. Bree reminds him the gig doesn’t have to be perfect. Kirby turns up and learns Eden is out with Cash, saying she’s just there to collect clothes. Remi tries to say they don’t want her to stay away but Kirby points out that Eden still isn’t answering her calls.

Justin tells Leah that he has no idea whether the band have any contracts or not. Leah suggests he finds out and says they don’t have to know why. Theo turns up and Justin tells him about Kirby delaying the announcement. Theo says she didn’t look too happy at the surf club just now. Justin suggests a coffee at Salt.

Remi exits the Lyrik house, telling Bree he has no idea what the meeting’s about. He also wants Kirby to know there’s no hard feelings. At the Diner, Marilyn is on the phone to Alf, promising she arranged everything for Bree. Leah turns up and Marilyn says Alf’s hearing aids are working. They discuss Irene being away and Marilyn offers to cover her shifts. Leah also mentions Justin’s problem.

At Salt, Justin has filled Remi and Theo in on the announcement delay. They are pleased and all set to get started on preparing the gig. Justin asks if Theo signed a contract when he joined the band or Mercedes for her contribution to the album. Remi says that’s not what Lyrik’s about. When Justin asks about the rights to Kirby’s songs, he starts to get a sinking feeling. Justin explains about Forrest withdrawing permission.

They move out onto the balcony to discuss it. Theo doesn’t think Kirby would support this but Justin says they have to assume she is. Remi protests that the songs were written for Lyrik. Justin says the band have to change the set list for tonight. Theo wants to talk to Kirby but Justin tells them not to, saying this happened because he pushed Forrest and he’ll sort it.

Bree finds some flowers at the flat and is surprised when Kirby tells her Marilyn delivered them for Bree. Kirby says Rose said she could hang out there and checks Bree’s okay with it. Bree is and encourages her to try and hang out with Remi again. Down in the Diner, Justin is explaining the situation to Leah. Leah suggests finding a way to convince Forrest to let them use the music. Bree appears and thanks Marilyn for the flowers. Marilyn realises she left the card on the counter and explains they’re from Alf. Bree and Leah chat about the situation with the band. Bree notes that Kirby’s hiding away upstairs.

Remi is trying to sort out the set list at home while Theo isn’t happy about not being allowed to talk to Kirby. Remi says they’ll start with All of You, the only song they’re allowed to play, then do covers. Kirby arrives to ask them for a drink but Remi says they’re busy with the gig. Theo starts to ask her about what’s going on but Remi stops him. Kirby asks if they know about her delaying the launch and Remi gives a rather brusque thanks. After Kirby’s gone, Theo wonders what she expected.

Bree finds Kirby on the beach and Kirby explains what happened. Bree tries to suggest that they’re just stressed. Kirby says at least Eden’s consistent: Remi and Theo are confusing her and she feels she can’t go home. Bree suggests Kirby take her room while she moves in with Remi and Eden, stressing it’s her idea. Kirby agrees. She gets a text from Forrest asking her to meet him at Salt.

Forrest asks Kirby if she has any idea when they’ll make the announcement. Kirby admits she hasn’t thought about it; she’s been trying to focus on her songwriting without much luck. She says Remi and Theo were nice to her before but now they’re being cold. Forrest advises her to have some distance from the band. Outside the Lyrik house, Remi tells Theo he’ll tell Eden what’s going on when she gets there. He reflects on the fact they can’t sell their album and have to lie to their fans about why they can’t play their songs, noting it makes them a cover band.

Forrest goes to see Justin, who suggests a proper contract giving Kirby recompense for the use of her songs. Forrest is unimpressed however, saying he’s not going to sign a retroactive contract and commenting on Remi and Theo giving Kirby a hard time. At the Diner, Marilyn tells Leah that Sophie isn’t coming in for her shift and agrees to cover. Justin turns up and tells Leah that Forrest didn’t go for it.

Theo is unimpressed with Remi saying they just have to tell the audience they’re going back to basics. He walks off, saying to let him know when Eden and the setlist are ready. Bree turns up with her case and explains about the arrangement she made with Kirby. Remi doesn’t seem too impressed.
