Extended Summary

Justin is on the phone to Remi near the beach, discussing album sales. He ends the call when he sees Kirby, who has just returned from the city. She talks about everything Forrest has arranged and how Eden has been avoiding her calls. Justin mentions Lyrik have a gig tomorrow and wonders when her solo launch is being announced. Kirby says it’s midday tomorrow.

Not far away, Mali comes across Xander and Rose, who have put aside their differences. Xander tells Rose to do what she has to and he’ll sort out their mum. As he walks away, Mali asks Rose if she has decided what she’s going to do. Rose doesn’t know. Meanwhile, at the beach house, Dana accuses Harper of being controlling and says she just wants answers. Harper says Olly doesn’t have answers: He stole the drugs and pinned the blame on her. Dana accuses her of never giving him a chance and walks out of the house, saying she needs to get away from her.

At the Diner, Justin is on the phone saying they’ll have to make an announcement at the gig. He tells Irene about Kirby’s forthcoming announcement. Irene is pleased for her but Justin notes it’ll mean the Lyrik they’re promoting no longer exists and considers getting her to postpone. As he leaves, Cash turns up. Irene fishes for information about Harper and Cash eventually puts her out of her misery and says they’ve never been more than friends. Irene invites him and Eden over for dinner and he says Eden’s busy with the band but he’ll come. He then gets an e-mail he says he was waiting for.

Kirby has met with Forrest at Salt (where Xander serves them) and notes if she’d known they had more business she’d have stayed in the city. She ignores a call from Justin. Forrest says they need to talk about the launch of her single. Kirby says she doesn’t have a single ready yet. Forrest says they still need to plan and wants her input.

Harper follows Dana through a park area, saying she’s nowhere to go: No friends, no phone. Dana says she’s fed up of Harper being in her face and Harper says if Dana’s caught she’ll end up in jail. She gets a text from Cash saying he’s got the case file and asks Dana to come back to the house.

Justin arrives at Salt to collect a pizza from Xander. He sees Kirby and Forrest on the balcony and says he was trying to call her. He and Forrest introduce themselves to each other. Forrest suggests he handles this and Kirby agrees, leaving them to it. Forrest tells Justin any queries for Kirby should go through him now. Downstairs, Kirby has a reunion with Rose. Kirby notes she hasn’t been gone long but Rose says a lot has happened in that time, explaining about tracking down her biological father. Mali joins them and invites Kirby to a barbie.

Justin tries to convince Forrest to delay the announcement to stop it affecting Lyrik. Forrest says bands change line-ups all the time but Justin says all the examples he quotes were established bands. Forrest insists they have to keep momentum going and Justin realises he won’t change his mind. Meanwhile, Dana has returned to the bedroom with Harper. They hear Cash arrive and talk to Irene. Dana isn’t happy about being stuck in the room with a promise of leftovers but thanks Harper for what she’s doing. Harper joins Irene and Cash and chats about how Cash always looked out for her and let her know the right protocols.

Rose, Kirby and Mali relax at the Diner flat, drinking a toast to Kirby’s announcement and Rose knowing who she is. Rose notes Mali has always known he’s a Bundjalung Goori and Kirby has always known her mother’s from the Cook Islands. Xander comes home and is offered a beer as Kirby recalls how her mother made sure she knew the traditional “ura” dance. Mali comments that Kirby’s father was a “white fella” like his. Kirby says she always knew both sides while Mali says he’s always considered himself aboriginal. Rose notes she might have family in South Africa and isn’t sure how she feels about that. She ponders whether to meet Samuel or not. Xander is clearly uncomfortable and goes to bed. Later, Rose drives to a house, checking the address on a piece of paper. She gets out of the car and stands outside.

Next morning, Cash meets Harper by the beach. He says he’s checked over the case file and the only evidence against Dana is the fact her security pass was used: The police haven’t looked at the fact her boyfriend had access to it and there’s no CCTV because of a camera malfunction. He promises to look into it and talk to the detectives and Olly.

Harper heads home and finds Irene packing up to leave. She explains her granddaughter’s heavily pregnant with twins and the doctors are trying to stop her going into labour. She is fine with Harper staying on at the house. After Irene’s gone, Harper talks to Dana about them having the house to themselves and what Cash said.

Xander gets up to find Kirby asleep on the sofa; Rose said she could stay. Mali appears and asks if they’ve seen Rose, saying her bed hasn’t been slept in and her car’s gone. Rose appears before they can panic too much and admits she drove to Samuel’s but couldn’t go in and just drove around. Later, Kirby meets Justin at the Diner. Although she suggests they don’t talk about work, Justin tries to convince her to delay the announcement, saying it could damage Lyrik’s moment.

Forrest meets Kirby at Salt and is astonished that she wants to delay, saying she’s caught between her career and her friends. Kirby says she didn’t feel able to go home last night and reminds him he said he valued her input. Forrest suggests she let him handle future business decision. He goes to see Justin and tells him he’s got what he wanted: The launch will be delayed. However, he says Justin won’t be happy to hear what else he has to say: They’re withholding copyright of Kirby’s songs, meaning Lyrik won’t be able to perform anything with her name on it.
