Extended Summary

Remi attempts to question Bree about what she meant. Theo and Kirby turn up, chatting about Andrew, and realise they’ve interrupted. Bree says she was just going while Remi tells the others not to ask. Meanwhile, Tane continues to question Kahu about the business registration. Kahu says he’ll get the paperwork.

Remi is idly strumming the guitar while Theo complains that there hasn’t been any response to the page he put up about Andrew. Kirby suggests he make a new post to remind followers. Theo is disappointed to learn she’s going to see Marilyn since they haven’t spent time together lately. Kirby says he can come with her if he wants. Remi sends a text and asks Theo about the social media page, which he has set up to see if anyone knows Andrew.

At the coffee cart, Marilyn frets to Alf that she hasn’t heard anything from Stunning Organics. She also worries that they might still sue her. Bree turns up and Marilyn asks how long she’d give someone to respond to a malpractice claim. Bree says she’s not a lawyer. She gets Remi’s text asking her to call him.

Theo has filled Remi in on what’s going on with Andrew. Kirby comes back through as Remi heads out to find Bree. She asks Theo if he’s coming with her but he decides to stay and keep an eye on the page, which seems to disappoint her. Theo notes he hasn’t told Justin or Andrew about the page because he doesn’t want to get their hopes up. Meanwhile, Remi turns up at the Diner flat and asks Bree why she didn’t respond to his text. Bree tries to pretend she has to go to work but Remi knows that’s not true and asks what they’re fighting about.

Tane arrives at the surf club in the middle of a phone call. He sees Kahu and asks about the paperwork. Kahu says he accidentally deleted the e-mail but he’ll have it resent in a couple of days. Tane says he’s just been talking to Kahu’s mum and wonders why she thinks he’s on a fishing trawler. They head back to the house, where Kahu says owning a trawler really was his dream. His mum gave him $50,000 which he used to buy a second hand trawler but the engine failed, he couldn’t afford to get it fixed and the boat took on water and ended up at the bottom of the harbour. He explains about sending Tane’s money to his mum. Tane says he can’t go on borrowing from people and needs to come clean.

Marilyn is now fretting to Kirby about whether Stunning Organics will go through with the lawsuit against them, wondering what will happen if they have to go to court. However, she then gets a text from Stunning Organics: They’ve agreed to let her out of her contract, cancel her debt and not send her any more boxes. At the Diner flat, Bree says she’s working with her counsellor to get through her issues. She says that Remi cancelling the tour has taken away her control over her problems.

At the Diner, Alf asks Theo about Andrew. Marilyn comes back in after a phone call from Roo, saying it’s a shame she can’t celebrate with them because she’s tutoring. She gets a text from Stunning Organics saying a courier’s coming to collect the boxes from Irene’s. Alf goes with her. Theo suggests he and Kirby might spend time together now, since she’s been helping Marilyn a lot lately, Kirby counters that he’s been helping Andrew. Theo gets a call from Justin and tells Kirby that Remi’s cancelled their tour. Outside the Parata house, Tane insists to Kahu that he needs to tell his mother the truth now. Kahu asks for some privacy in which to do it.

Remi is apologetic but says Bree isn’t the only reason why he cancelled the tour, since he actually does want to concentrate on the contest. He says he used to be happy just playing guitar but now he’s focused on getting the album done. At the beach house, Alf and Marilyn have piled up the boxes as the courier arrives. As Alf is about to go and meet John, the courier tells Marilyn he’s taking the boxes back to the warehouse and doesn’t know what will happen to them after that. He offers Marilyn the paperwork to sign but Marilyn says the company’s unethical and will just keep putting new labels on the products and selling them. Despiye Alf trying to argue it’s not her problem, she tells him not to take them.

At the Lyrik house, Kirby in particular is unhappy about Remi cancelling the tour. Theo suggests he might have a good reason. When Remi turns up, Kirby jumps on him, saying it was arrogant of him to make a decision like this without consulting them. Remi tries to explain but Kirby isn’t in the mood to listen and walks out. Meanwhile, Kahu walks away from the Parata house with his bags packed. He shoots a look behind him, then walks on.

Theo finds Kirby outside the house. She is still upset about Remi’s decision and thinks Eden will be furious. Theo tells her about Remi’s idea to enter Battle of the Bands. Kirby is unimpressed and points out that, if they lose, they’ll be out of pocket. She asks why Theo isn’t on her side. Theo says it’s about what’s best for the band. Kirby says neither Theo nor Remi gets to decide what that is.
